    The old 140 and planter did another nice job on planting that Silver Queen Joey. And you and Will did a great job of turning out another interesting and relaxing video. Good to see the pear coming along good as well. Thanks, and may God bless you and the family.

    Hi Joey , good video on planting the sweet corn. I have planted quite a bit of corn myself. My technique is a little different. I used a middle buster to open the bed and run the planter down in the valley. I had an older friend who is on longer with us why I did it like that. I told him well I plant it in a valley so when the crows find it. It’s too big to pull up. But that’s how I was taught to do it. I’m just a couple of county’s east of you. Thanks for sharing. Have a good day.

    Another great video Joey! Great camera work again Will! I wish I had taken the time to smooth the tops of the beds that I threw up last week when I planted the Silvermine corn. Sunflower seeds, and bush pole beans are breaking the ground today. Just a very few corn seeds are starting to sprout. I finally bought a Super A and an A 180 planter/runner Monday over in Gilbert SC. Email inbound! Again thanks for posting your videos and sharing your knowledge with us newbies!

    It's amazing the difference in zones. In the deep south fertilizer on the surface would be gone the first day from our sun and heat. We have to put it deep in the ground to do any good.

    • @Jtwes
      @Jtwes  Рік тому +1

      Never thought about that. I do it sometimes with a foot and sometimes on top. Will plant the next corn patch with a foot and see if it takes quicker. Rain is about the only thing I've every really worried about on my fertilizer.

    I love that planter Joey! My biggest problem with corn anymore isn't the crows but the raccoons. As soon as it get close to filling out, they get in it every night and pull it down and eat the ears until it's gone.

    Looking good there Joey! I'm glad your ground was dry enough, it's still muddy here I'm not sure when I'll be able to start planting. I place some black plastic pipe around in my corn field, that seems to help keep the crows away and placing something black such as a garbage bag, tied to a pole so it can blow in the wind will help also. I hope you have a good growing season!

    I didn't have a camera man but I got my silver queen in today during a light sprinkle. And I planted the beans too. I still don't have the hopper working, to put in the 10-10-10 with the corn but I can still tote a bucket.

    You got that 140 dialed in. I have a cub with cultivators and side dresser. When I bought my cub cultivators the guy I bought them from also gave me a set for a Super A. I have the set for a Super A and I believe they will also fit a 140. I am going to confirm that or if you know? if so I am going to be looking for a 140 to buy. Don't see too many in my area in Michigan with cultivators.

    Hey Joey, another great video. What's the benefit of having the skid plate under the planter runner? Mine doesn't have it, should i bed in hills or flat? And what seed plate do you use for sunflowers?

    • @Jtwes

      The skid plate is a depth Controll. I like planting flat and not being funny but I'll let you know if I like it or not after I see how the Hastings comes up. I used the new planter that does not have that plate.

    Great afternoon to you Joey. Excellent looking corn patch IMO. I’m wondering just how You are able to water it if need be. Some sort of a re-lift out of the pond? I for one would appreciate a video of that system should the need arise to water the patch this summer. If it is a well water system, seems too hard on the well. Everyone has different water sources so just curious. Thanks for sharing and I hope to actually meet you in a couple weeks. Nice job with the video Wil. Pear tree is looking awesome as well, gotta hope. Stan here.
