to make one thing clear: I didn't want to make it sound like other Destiny creators are whiny or their points aren't valid. However, I wonder if their mostly negative feelings towards the game skew how the overall community feels about it - and I wanted to bring up how many of them rely on Destiny for their livelihood. They have to play it even when they don't want to, so it's natural they'd be more nit-picky or irritable towards it over time. Skill Up and myself are both creators who don't ONLY post Destiny, and we both had more positive outlooks on the game as a whole. I mainly brought this point up to encourage people to be aware of these perspectives when they listen to their favorite content creators and essentially, form their own opinions. I feel like this would lessen the seemingly hypocritical comments people often seem to make about Destiny. Hope that makes sense! Also, thanks so much for the support recently, I really appreciate you guys :)
I’m not a youtuber but after seeing the 100th “Bungie is killing Destiny” video a few weeks ago I was tempted to start just so I could voice how annoying it was that people who supposedly hate the game still play. I appreciate it,
This is very much a point I tell people. Many people are absurdly dependent on Destiny. And while I get that their fanbase is built on this game, they will die on this hill forcing themselves to play it. Of course the game runs out of things to do. Not for me though. I do stuff on Destiny, move to the next game. By the end of the season, most of my time is not spent on Destiny, but other games. Be it Monster Hunter, CoD Zombies (especially the older ones), Battlefield 4, State of Decay 2, and of course, MFing Minecraft. I don't force myself to just play Destiny. And people will kill their own joy of the game playing it and only playing it. TLDR: People are ruining their own experience of the game by constantly having high expectations and limiting their game experience to just Destiny. Play other games. If you're complaining about the price tag of playing Destiny, chances are you have enough money to play and ENJOY other games.
@@thebrotacogamer2944 That arguement is so baseless, the casual player even runs out of stuff to do or chase. People complaining about a game they enjoy=they should play something else? I guess if you want a game to be better you just stop playing it and it makes up for developer's incompetence.
I absolutely loathe most people who "hate destiny" because when you ask them why they feel that way, their response is inevitably some version of "I'm an uneducated arrogant piece of garbage who feels fully qualified to offer my opinion on things I know absolutely NOTHING about, like game design and development. Even though I've never set foot inside a game studio much less put years of work into a AAA project, I will none the less run my mouth constantly about all of my genius ideas for the game, which can and must be implemented over-night. Despite the thousands of man-hours that goes into one single expansion, I will make flippant and arbitrary demands on how those man-hours are spent and how much content must be developed, again despite my total ignorance and general stupidity. Then, no matter what, I will cry and shriek like an unstable mental patient because my unrealistic and ridiculous demands aren't being catered to at literal super-human speed and you are not utilizing technologies that don't even exist so I am angry for no logical reason." This includes every single criticism of "sun-setting" and "vaulting", both of which are mostly complained about by people too intellectually challenged to understand the what or why of either. They cry out, "I will proclaim guns are being removed from the game, even though this is a literal bald-faced lie. I will proclaim Bungie doesn't understand sandbox balance, even though I don't know a single fuggin thing about it either due to my ignorance and lack of experience making games. I will shriek angrily about "content being removed" while completely IGNORING any facts I find inconvenient, such as the incredible technology gains being made by temporarily vaulting content. I didn't read the blog post about the new game engine or the technical reasons why vaulting is necessary (not just game size) because reading is hard and I prefer being a stupid, ignorant, arrogant, shrieking beast of a human. And no I will not play other games, I spent a small amount of money on this game (about one day's wages at minimum wage) on this game and an even smaller amount on the season pass and I'll be DAMNED if the game doesn't sexually satisfy me and build me a houseboat before this season is over."
@@kylemccormack1785 so sunsetting all prior DLC items that we paid for is a good thing? Or that they sunset everything at once leaving us with a minimum of content? Seems legit bro
Technically, every game is a waste of time depending on your angle. It depends why you play games in the first place. Ultimately, it's just supposed to be entertainment. If you aren't entertained, so what does entertain you.
@@carlosdanger788 So then stop playing the game and stop commenting on Destiny 2 youtuber pages. You do not need to devote yourself to being CANCER within the community.
As cool as Taken King and Forsaken were I honestly never want to go back to the months of content droughts that we had between TTK's launch and the April update (and then the April update till ROI) If we go back to the 1 expansion a year system we'd more than likely just see everyone scream and shout about the lack of content and how the seasonal system was better. This game's community is eternally complaining about something, even when Bungie gives us what we want i.e the latest cosmodrome fiasco
@@boingbong7348 perhaps, this is just coming from a guy who can barely play the game at all anymore because of how boring and tedious it is running recycled content. But I'm Def the minority on this video. I'd love to get into destiny again but i find it to be like a chore after season of the undying.
I've been saying this for years. One or two good releases a year is way better. It would give people time to actually engage with all of the content too. In the current system, by the time the average player reaches the endgame, they barely have any time to play it before the next season starts.
@@ethankilpatrick2108 gun play for one. None of the guns are really that special or feel that good to use. Definitely not the same as D1. Loot for another. Loot used to be something special, always chasing for that exotic you don't have, doing really difficult challenges that require coordination to have a chance to get a really good weapon, like black hammer. None of the loot stands out in D2.
@@ethankilpatrick2108 also destiny 2's crucible is just a disgrace and has been since the beginning. It just doesn't have the same competitive value. They tried to revamp the way crucible works in D2 but it just didn't hit the mark.
I honestly like Destiny 2. The only things that Bungie really needs to address is PvP and sunsetting. If they do that, then I think the game as a whole would be really great.
@@ivanvento6764 agreeded shadowkeep had great story with to little missions and beyond light was more of a chore if they actually focused on the story for BL it would have been a lot more worth it IMO
@@GUMrawr doesnt change the fact that its content he paid for. The majority should not validate removal of content. But what would you know? You're a white knight
A while ago I tried D1 with a friend of to play the old WoM raid and while that was a great time replaying it, D1 just felt so simpler in gameplay in terms of no mods, builds, or crazy exotics like we have now. I will say D2 has definitely improved in terms of how to customize your character. D2 still sucks in some aspects, but there is always something that Bungie does right that does make it great. They just need to assess what is working and what isn’t.
Biggest things I miss about D1: more loot that was actually good, not just a bunch of trash. The subclasses were all super customizable and all the options were viable, there wasn't just one way to run them that was better than everything else. They didn't remove old content from the game. And the art style and music were just way better.
@@burningscorcher also getting a legendary felt rewarding, now 3/4 time getting a legendary is an insta dismantle, I'm not saying we should go back to D1 because D1 has its problem, I feel like D2 succeed where D1 didn't and D1 succeed where D2 doesn't. also for me, I tried going back to D1 but got motion sick because of the fov and it felt too slow.
Addiction is at least fun actually this is more like a full time job I swear last season if didn’t but music on I felt like I was going blow my brains out
That’s what happens when the core gameplay is based off rng. You realize how dogshit the game really is, outside of dungeons, raids, and exotic quest the game is actually extremely bad even in today’s standards. No innovation, stale missions, no incentives or challenges.
It's a weird scenario where a game has been in been in so many bad times, with those times becoming more and more common, and it's community wants to love it. We want to love this game, we want to call it a good game and although I have more than a thousand hours on this game, I'd never recommend it to anyone. I want to. I have wanted to for the past 3 years.
I just can’t do this game anymore, man. The live service style makes my brain ache, and it just feels like not even Bungie cares about the game anymore, so how could I bring myself to care? Kinda just feels like they’re trying to ride it out as long as possible
I keep coming back to this game even though at this point it doesnt appeal to me anymore. I lost almost all motivation when they first made all players the same power level in new light, throwing away all of the grind and progess that i worked for since i played launch day. then they did it again and once again i just decided to uninstall the game.
@Maggot so true. I started playing again a week or two after BL (quit playing after the 1st season) and it’s a great thing with so much content. It is slightly overwhelming at times though hahaha
I'm having a hard time to get back to play Season of The Chosen, buuuut I would actually prefer to spend money on one DLC than come back every few months, level pass to 100 and go play other games until another season comes out
1 Exotic gun, armor, and ghost at a time. Because players enjoy being forced to decide which awesome gear to wear so as to make life easier for Bungie programmers in regard to pvp. Other loot grinders are all, Wear whatever you find. May the most OP player win.
One big expansion with NO ROADMAP, just secrets and time gstwd events. And slot leveling, rather than this current level grind. Destiny 2 needs to drop the "2" at this point.
Pack up all the seasons into one big content drop that comes after a expansion, So September is beyond light and then in April they can drop *The Crow's Saga* which includes all the seasons that were going to drop. I feel like thats a happy medium In terms of why fans don't know what they want. I feel like its because they are basically the victims of the games own identity crisis. It's like, if you're constantly changing your mind and not knowing what you want how would you expect your friends to know whats good for you? Bungie always slowly and surely get to a spot thats really good, but then struggle to innovate and are like 'this works so we shall stretch it out until we can't no more' and then what happens is they never actually thought about what they'll do past stretching that one thing out. So they kinda just scrambled together to figure out what works and run with it till they strike gold, and the cycle repeats.
I personally like the seasonal model. The story since Arrivals has actually felt coherent and evolving - it's finally the constantly changing world it always wanted to be with the wow comparisons
I'm excited to see how they evolve the H.E.L.M, it has the potential to address a lot of QoL and narrative expresion(?) problem destiny had the last 2 years
too much drip feed. There's not that destiny feeling of "too much to do" because there's a large and extensive grind, BUT because they just force u to wait and u cant grind the game out because they just spam drip feed on everything
Dude gamer know what they want, this is a problem of balancing between pvp and pve ! And after all these years I have to say that it don’t work for a long time to keep it peaceful and clean... it’s sad but games need to concentrate on one experience and make it perfect ! All other things will slowly demotivate the players
Honestly i don't have much of a problem with destiny. Contrary to popular opinion i really liked beyond light. It provided what i expected out of the expansion. New fun subclass, new wonderful destination and a nice story. I feel like part of the money i spent on the game isn't just the content but rather the times you get to spend with your friends. Sure there should be singleplayer experience but destiny is at it best when you play it with friends. So i am perfectly fine with how destiny is at the moment obviously im not saying the game is perfect and there are problem waiting to be fixed. However the season model? i'm fine with it. Some people spend 10$ to go to the cinema for only 2 hours. I spend 10$ on a destiny season that last me a few months.
Thank you Timbo for the insightful video. I gave it a like even though I disagree on your desire for basically getting only get 1 large expansion per year. I like the evolving world philosophy they put forth. Unlike most dedicated players I don't chase weapon rolls (it doesn't seem like you do either). I play mainly for the story, seeing and interacting in the various worlds and completing quests. I am however getting sick of being pushed to run mostly very old playlist content to make progress in newly introduced activities. I totally agree about the love/hate relationship we have with the game. Thanks for the thought provoking videos!
I never really got burned out or particularly upset with D2, UNTIL Beyond Light. It wasn't the expansion itself, it was the massive removal of content and aggressive implementation of sun setting that hit me in a way this game never did before. Maybe I'm in the minority but I continued to enjoy the massive amount of stuff and activities we had by the time Season of Arrivals and kinda assumed it was always gunna be there. After BL, for the first time, my perspective on the game changed significantly and I realized that this game MIGHT not end up doing it for me. I try to maintain some optimism but it does seem like D2's past it's prime. At least, for now. Few things embody a love/hate relationship like Destiny players. LOL It's like that friend or family member that you frequently get upset with but care about them unconditionally and have many fond memories with.
Great video as always and thank you. You unintentionally gave me some great advice about not making just Destiny content. I'm still a very small channel so switching to variety won't be too hard.
for sure! it's easy to only make content on one game initially - especially if that one game is getting attention on your channel. But it will more than likely eventually go away. You want people to subscribe to your channel because they want to watch YOU, not the game you're playing. If they're only watching because of the game, when the game dies out, so does your channel. But if people like your personality, they'll stay and watch anything you make :)
I will never understand why players want pvp in PvE games or why companies put PvP in a game knowing they will cripple the pve experience. It's really dumb. Go play one of the hundreds of other PvP focused games, there is no shortage.
10:00 personally, the people who hate on destiny do it because just one month ago the game made them whole. it was literally their escape. then, bungie came in and brought stasis to the sandbox or sunset and nerfed the guns they loved because too many people loved them. destiny players just have a hard time when they know that if they love what they have, it will be changed. that’s how bungie has alwyays rolled. “is the sandbox feeling too balanced? time to spice it up!” it’s this that kills the destiny community
Dude! Right on the money with destiny content creators. I stopped following/watching a LOT of creators, too much negativity, every January it's the same, creators complain about X problem and claim the game it's in a bad shape just because Bungie takes a couple of weeks off during the holidays. If you are not enjoying something stop and go play something else for a bit, then comeback when you feel that u have something you like. Loved the video
To be honest, what I have always wanted is something akin to what Final Fantasy 14 does. That being major expansion every two years and release major patches during said time frame moving the story along and then baiting us with a cliffhanger of sorts in the final major patch before the release of the expansion. The expac has a good sized campaign with about 6 strikes that tie in to the story. The major patches are released in ff14 about every four months give or take and contain their own mini campaign and usually two strikes. Alongside that there are two raid series' that are released throughout the two years between expansions. One series is your typical 6 man raid content, with the other being 12 man raid content. There are too many details to dive into for a youtube comment so I'll leave it at that.
As someone who has been on and off with Destiny 2 since it's launch and a religious fan of the original Destiny game. I hope you continue to make Destiny youtube content! Your lore stuff is so good.
One thing that bitters us players is how much it takes them to fix something simple/game breaking. We know it takes time we dont get angry about that. However, when theres the most minuscule bug which benefits the player in the slightest they speedrun a fix. Eververse double bright engrams was patched two days after it was first reported, yet we are still waiting for fixes on activities like Coup de grace. It feels like Bungie cares more about eververse than the playerbase
I have felt that for me, an ideal model would be 2 seasons a year. One would be content similar to what we see now with season of the chosen, and the next could be more similar in size/structure/content as a forsaken or taken king. I know that their pockets aren't as deep and they don't have the same reasources/man-power, but I really would hate to just see perpetual "seasons" from here on out and nothing more...unless they really figure out how to maximize such content.
Showed up in my feed. But thank you for not actually crapping on D2 and actually bringing something to the conversation. I feel like alot of content creator's when it comes to D2 do have stuff to complain about but as you mentioned the next day it'll be a video saying how great it is. I think you summed it up perfectly Destiny is a Hydra. Everyone wants something different. And that's the imbalance I think that keeps Destiny growing. I think a mix of the seasonal content with the nice drop of dlc so kinda like beyond light sized. Would be better. Of course this is way too much man power lol. But hey we can all dream. Nice vid. You got a new sub
removing the season pass actually sounds like a good idea moving forward tbh. that way they can put more effort into the holiday events and expansions. but what they really should do if they do this, is make exotic weapon quests as hard as they were in Destiny 1, that way people can be grinding out the exotic they want to pass the time it takes when making the new expansion. i like your idea a lot actually!
Spreading the season pass loot ALL over.the game would be much better than the generic system they have today, giving us the loot is not equal to earning It, i would rather chase the ornaments in a hard mode Battlegrounds than just getting them from the pass for example, It becomes "aspirational content" wich is an aspect this game needs to improve in it's seasons.
Unfortunately I got the season pass thinking "there's no way I won't buy it anyway," so I'm going to get my value out of it, but if the model continues after witch queen then I'm going to skip the seasons in between. Bungie says that they can't make another forsaken sized dlc, but if they just chilled with the seasons and put that effort into the dlcs then they could.
I think Bungie just proved that there was no reason to sunset weapons since desperado is now a perk on the trials pulse, a perk that was formally exclusive to reddrix. Basically just take the pinnacle perks and put them into the perk pools, except micromissle and revokers refund perk. I hate having to find new armor now to masterwork because the resources to do so are too high. Next season almost half my armor will be sunset and they have the best stat distributions for me. Sunsetting just means you have to grind more just to stay up to date each season. I have to say though I love a lot of the weapons from this season over the past, probably back since forsaken. The perks are getting more interesting with frenzy, lasting impression, and more weapons with chain reaction though that was introduced last season but having it on the new ritual grenade launcher makes it seem like the replacement for loaded question, the weapon that I had registered the most kills with by about 10k more than the 2nd most
Well-reasoned video. I agree that the seasonal model is creating more problems than it solves. It doesn't really keep the game fresh, it just adds some grind. The big expansions are where it's at. And you nailed it - I think the demand for content and the money that comes with creating content is what wins. I wish it were otherwise. I miss D1 and D2 before Warmind when I didn't have to regrind 50 more power levels each season. For what it's worth: I actually think Age of Triumph was the best part of Destiny 1. Destiny 2 peaked, IMO, in Season of Arrivals. The reason is that there was so much variety in what you could do; I dare say, the most variety. But the answer for me - for my own happiness was this: just play Destiny a little less. It was never meant to be played every day of someone's life. It has stuff to do for the person who wants to play every day, but I'm not sure that's the most fun you will ever have. There are lots of games out there. Put Destiny down for a bit, try those and then come back if you feel like it.
I know sunsetting was necessary for them but that just made me sad because I like like, not the possiblity to get the best loot, but to get varied loot. I was happy get unique sets just because I was on the dlc areas or doing those missions. I just wanna be able to collect stuff from things I paid for:(
I would be fine with one big dlc a year for a heftier fee. Similar to an expansion pass that MMO's do with like one or two filler seasons in the middle. Keep holiday events as a separate team. Make some cosmetics and loot to earn between the big content drops nothing to large. You could make the weapons the focus. 3 per event with unique perks. Bam half the player base is back just to get the roll they want. The big content should be the focus of making new game modes and expanding upon the story. As it is I feel like this isn't really sustainable at this pace.
You have solid reasoning, but from a business standpoint and my own personal standpoint, I like where Destiny is right now. I dont have all the time to play Destiny so I'm usually finished all the new content in 3 months, so when the next season comes out I'm really excited! (Other than the big yearly DLC, that takes me a good while to get through). But great video, hope I don't sound negative, thank you :)
As somebody who gave up destiny 2 about a year ago. I definitely would say despite the fact that I think the core game is great. Bungie just isn’t able to put out things that actually grab my attention. Hawkmoon was my favourite gun in D1 but when one of their big pulling points for a season is bringing back an old gun, I just simply don’t care. I understand with a smaller group of people working on a game and the pandemic going on, content might slow down a bit but when a game stops trying new things and starts recycling old stuff without fixing a lot of the problems in pvp or adding new things similar to escalation protocol, why waste the time and energy playing. I keep looking at what they release season after season and I’m trying not to sound like I’m just whining but I’m not gonna waste money on seemingly nothing interesting. Thanks for the great video though Timbo!
Probably do with your age and never experiencing gunplay and everything being so fresh like up until beyond light released D2 never had a lot of unique experiences
Timbo!!! Hope all is well brother! I agree with you I would prefer a bigger expansion rather then the drip feed. For me, those were the best days. More things to do, more strikes, better activities, just a better experience!
A really good take. I also would prefer just one giant expansion in fall with maybe something small in spring. It does seem though that the general Destiny community wants quantity, which causes quality to suffer, but that's just what I see.
At the end of the day bungie is a business they need to make money so I am cool with the few content drops every couple months rather that than waiting a year for another drop. I enjoy playing this game dont plan to stop either I enjoy it for what it is
The title pretty much sums up my thoughts on Destiny 2 lol. Then again, Destiny is the series that got me out of my depression back in 2016. Even though this game sucks, it'll always have the absolute most special place in my heart. This game series, Minecraft, and Black Ops 2 are the 3 games that're like the trifecta of myself. ❤️
I totally agree with and rather just have one big content release a year and maybe one or two small ones throughout the rest of the year until the next release. Keep up the good work.
I thoroughly enjoyed D2 with my friends, got burnt out dropped it and just picked it back up and was not having fun just felt like everything was a chore, with next gen being a thing this game can do so much more, instead of grind and repeat the same missions for years
Also I think the lack of just casual but still challenging content is not there. I love Destiny, but when it comes to endgame content you have to prep before you actually do it. You gotta choose what class, what mods, what subclass, what guns, and your play style. I like challenging content when there you can just jump in the game and use your skills instead of mods. For example, Doom Eternal is single-player, but I had more fun with that than prepping for a Nightfall. With Doom, you use your skills and the patterns of the enemies to strategize and beat the game, but in D2 you kind of get carried by the mods most of the time. If you’re going to sunset items then don’t need them. Also, I wish D2’s enemies had actual special powers and could do interesting things to control the battlefield.
I put down destiny and warframe, the 2 big live service style games I used to play hundreds of hours of. Destiny's grind has become unsatisfying because I never played the game just to get loot- without any new and interesting aspects I just can't see myself enjoying the game anymore. I was in support of sunsetting but it has been handled in a very strange way that means that it doesn't make the grind more satisfying to find new things, but makes me feel like every season is worthless because I'll have to do the same thing again in a few months. Now I've moved on to other games, ones that reward my playtime in ways that aren't fleeting, and where the grind isn't something to do in order to enjoy other parts of the game but something to enjoy on its own. Destiny feels like a chore to me now, and I miss when it didn't.
the game is really fun when starting out. i started over the summer and it was a great time getting into raids and farming content like IB, Outbreak, gnawling, whisper, and getting 2 stats of 100. Then they deleted 70% of the game and I realized what was left was a bunch of choirs. IDK I agree the game can be better as I had a great exp. But them adding that content rich exp i got over the summer probably isn't going to happen as they are always light on releasing content. TBH after a certain point i think you have to ask if you are having fun. for me i wasn't in the new expansion so i picked up wow again and i found myself bitching about this stuff much less. i think one just have to ask themselves that question. If they are not, maybe its time to try something different. things can change in the future but if you reach a stagnant point that its a choir to play, you probably need a good break imo
I love but also hate the direction they went i am fine with the season approach and re-adding old weapons from new sources, what has caused all that to feel wasted is sunsetting it feels like it is forced. Like a rug being pulled out from under me but every couple months when i get attached to a weapon not because it is god like but because i get comfortable using certain items
I would enjoy one big annual expansion, as that would fit my own schedule better. I have a wife who loves spending time with me and we have our first child on the way, but I don't want to fall behind in this game. Having one year to do everything would permit me to keep up better than everything changing every three months.
Subtract one season from the seasonal model and out of the 3 seasons have 1 season dedicated to fixing main issues within the game in a D1 April Update kinda season.
So I have a question as a relatively new d2 (joined during shadowkeep) I always wonder what you vets are talking about when you say you like forsaken and taken king. Is it the storyline or the new loot or the new destinations. Would be interested to see your response timbo.
Well i am a veteran and i cant tell you this.. i think destiny is in a overall better State than before. Sunsetting was a thing Back in d1 when ttk came out.. they Made all our gear and even exotics useless so i dont know, it is all more of a nostalgia thing. TTK had great storys and forsaken too and great raids Strikes and so on but the time before those dlcs was so much worse and i Think everybody says those expansions where the best State destiny was in because they "saved" destiny. In d1 before ttk the game was in a bad State.. ttk changed that so everybody is remembering ttk as the high point altrough there are better raids and there is better content that was released after ttk. And the same with forsaken, d2 was in a really Bad State and forsaken saved it. So everybody is seeing it as the high point. Dont get me wrong those dlc's are really great but much nostalgia is playing into it. And you must take into account that the community dont really knows what they want because as said in the Video there are so many Different groups of Players who all want something else.. Now destiny is slowly building a solid foundation and in some months/a year sunsetting wont be a Problem anymore for most Players if everything will go as planned
personally, I really liked the story in the Taken King. Oryx was an actual antagonist to battle, which isn't rare anymore, but it was back then (the boss in Destiny 1 was just a big Darkness blob). The quests, missions, and loot was massively overhauled. Bungie added new subclasses, a new enemy type, and a new world to play in. Essentially the Taken King was good because it fixed many problems people had with the original game, while also adding a lot of good content. I didn't like Forsaken as much personally, but I know many people in the community did. People like it for many of the same reasons people liked the Taken King. Both the Taken King and Forsaken came out a year after the vanilla versions of Destiny 1 and Destiny 2, so people tend to group them together because of that as well. The timelines of content for Destiny 1 and 2 are very similar, not just because content was released at the same time in both cases, but also because the size of those DLC expansions were relatively the same. Hopefully that gives you some context!
I wouldn't mind if the devs lowered the amount of weapons they added for season, then also added new rolls with fresher perks for old favourites. That way maybe both old favourites and new weapons can be appreciated. I feel like there are too many unrecognisable weapons sitting around the game. Also I do wish exotics were as rare as they were in D1, I can get why they are more common now but there's no sort of screaming gjallerhorn hype in D2 aside from a couple raid weapons... Still love this damn game tho, despite all its flaws
Conflict counts as engagement, because people watch it. I try to stay transparent with my viewers. Sometimes it because of a conflict....but usually.....its the truth is just boring for most people. lol
I fell off so hard after about 5-6 weeks of forsaken, I honestly love the seasons for how they keep you active but I don’t really enjoy the season pass model, even though I loved taken king and rise of iron I don’t think the old model has enough content to keep the really hardcore community satisfied. As you said I doubt everything will be perfect for everyone.
I don't mind the recycled content. Devil's lair is actually pretty fun now. The problem has been that D2 has had whole swaths of content simply abandoned, like the beautiful and huge Dreaming City. It's simple things that Bungie could do, like reworking the Blind Well with new bosses and new loot and put in Champs. That's it. You don't need three teams to do simple tweaks. I think Bungie is finally getting it after six years. We just want things to shoot and loot to grind for.
I play the game solo and find that a big chunk of the content in raids are blocked out it is a big issue for solo players but not one I think they will fix because there arent many solo players it is very annoying
Completely agree. I’m tired of hearing the problems people have with the game. I know it’s not perfect, but people find every flaw. My friends ripped on season of the chosen, but still bought the pass and play all the time
Bungie should really gofundme the future of this game. It's the only way we're gonna get anything that will keep this game from not becoming recycled every year. Can someone create a new race of enemy for them pls? This notion of "everything is good in 3s" need to stop. Give me an even number so I can add an extra friend to PVE missions.
2:24 I agree with you. Ive been playing Destiny since the beta and I have never managed to be good at pvp, but i still enjoy playing crucible. Now, every content creator complains about being frozen by other guardians, but i actually love stasis in crucible,bc i still die helplessly to other guardians just as often as before beyond light, but Now, by freezing my oponents i finally can get some kills!
The thing is, i don think Bungie can afford making 1 expansion a year when things lose relevance in a week in the gaming world we have today, maybe this worked like 4 or 5 years ago but in todays standarts maybe this isnt realistic for them as a business.
to make one thing clear: I didn't want to make it sound like other Destiny creators are whiny or their points aren't valid.
TLDR:
People are ruining their own experience of the game by constantly having high expectations and limiting their game experience to just Destiny.
You talk about about Destiny, Division and Outriders as they are all looter shooters but you never mention Borderlands I was wondering why?
I'll say it, most Destiny creators are whiny
This game is a unappealing, boring mess. Anyways, I gotta go spend 6 hours grinding legend lost sectors for exotic loot.

The game is a complete waste of time. Anyway can’t wait to grind out my season pass and get those new titles.
Then, no matter what, I will cry and shriek like an unstable mental patient because my unrealistic and ridiculous demands aren't being catered to at literal super-human speed and you are not utilizing technologies that don't even exist so I am angry for no logical reason."
This includes every single criticism of "sun-setting" and "vaulting", both of which are mostly complained about by people too intellectually challenged to understand the what or why of either.

I've been saying this for years. One or two good releases a year is way better. It would give people time to actually engage with all of the content too. In the current system, by the time the average player reaches the endgame, they barely have any time to play it before the next season starts.

Because players enjoy being forced to decide which awesome gear to wear so as to make life easier for Bungie programmers in regard to pvp. Other loot grinders are all, Wear whatever you find. May the most OP player win.
Well with the recent news about bungie, I'm not trying to hear the "we don't have time or resources" excuse.
I feel like thats a happy medium
In terms of why fans don't know what they want.
I get there's a lot of people who love the game for what it is but The Story and Characters are absolutely horrible.
My issue is the time gated story content and removal of campaign elements.
I'm a RPG player first and now I dont get to have that.
Dude gamer know what they want, this is a problem of balancing between pvp and pve ! And after all these years I have to say that it don’t work for a long time to keep it peaceful and clean... it’s sad but games need to concentrate on one experience and make it perfect ! All other things will slowly demotivate the players
Sunsetting, constantly reskinned weapons & armor and no new enemies are not worth $30. Yet alot of people pay it. So, they're not changing.
I had to comment on how I always say I hate this game, but it's the only game I habitually play....
Me too that's why I hate what they are doing now with sunseting and pvp
Thank you Timbo for the insightful video. I gave it a like even though I disagree on your desire for basically getting only get 1 large expansion per year. I like the evolving world philosophy they put forth. Unlike most dedicated players I don't chase weapon rolls (it doesn't seem like you do either). I play mainly for the story, seeing and interacting in the various worlds and completing quests. I am however getting sick of being pushed to run mostly very old playlist content to make progress in newly introduced activities. I totally agree about the love/hate relationship we have with the game. Thanks for the thought provoking videos!
I agree with going to a full year model. A lot less fomo, and being able to explore more in depth than just the seasonal grind.
This game just fixed 90% of its issues, it's my favorite game.
Lmao
Playing Destiny 2 made me go back and start playing Marathon.
7:28 Me when they actually introduced sunsetting into the game even though the whole of the community was against it.
Dude, what is the music playing in the background at the beginning? It sounds great man!
Great content as always Timbo, keep it up. Sunsetting is killing the game faster than normal, I too would prefer a once a year expansion.
I love Destiny and Bungie for their willingness to try new things and changes that keep it fresh and interesting
Heyy dope I knew I played the strike with you the other day lol I’m Norseman in the beginning haha
That title perfectly sums up my thoughts on this game
removing the season pass actually sounds like a good idea moving forward tbh. that way they can put more effort into the holiday events and expansions. but what they really should do if they do this, is make exotic weapon quests as hard as they were in Destiny 1, that way people can be grinding out the exotic they want to pass the time it takes when making the new expansion. i like your idea a lot actually!
As long as there's no crucible quest
The armor sucks
It doesn’t have that d1 vibe. Or atmosphere
I absolutely agree. Destiny doesn't suit the seasonal model and they're clearly at their best when they can have 6mths to a year to make a grand DLC.
Which is supposedly coming late this year
I think Bungie just proved that there was no reason to sunset weapons since desperado is now a perk on the trials pulse, a perk that was formally exclusive to reddrix.
7:28 that centurion just said “alright I’ve had my fill, goodbye”
What’s the appeal of this game it’s just shooting that’s it. It’s like borderlands but way less fun
I don't know what is about D1 that just FELT more addictive than D2. Maybe the art style?
The raids destiny 2 raids ain’t nothin compared to d1 raids even when you give it a chance
For me, the only main thing I want is the original game content(The Red War and the 2 DLCs) back. That would make me really happy.
My main takeaway from this video is that the piano in the background is off key😂
As you said I doubt everything will be perfect for everyone.
is it worth it if im not planning to buy any expansions and just play purely on the free to play model?
Those other games failed because the whole Destiny style game is garbage lmao
The thing is, i don think Bungie can afford making 1 expansion a year when things lose relevance in a week in the gaming world we have today, maybe this worked like 4 or 5 years ago but in todays standarts maybe this isnt realistic for them as a business.
guys should i get shadowkeep (on sale ) or the season pass please help i cant choose
You're killing it man keep it up!
