      Are there no better cells? My phone has ~4 Ah and is less than half the size.
      Edit: do something with this supercapacitor recuperation technology. There is this YT dude with a capacitor bank as a car battery.

      For the powered skate brotha you want high discharge capable cells, like from a cordless drill battery pack. Those BMS are “usable” but you’ll have to manually balance the cells. I can hook ya up if you want more cells, love the videos and hit me up if.

      I can send you an SBMS0 when will be available if you are interested. It is open source but a bit of overkill for such a small application. You can see details about the SBMS0 on my current Kickstarter page www.kickstarter.com/projects/electrodacus/solar-bms-and-digital-mppt-for-pv-electricty-and-h

    Nice video my friend. One small tip : hot glue is not good for heat dissipation... Try use some specific adhesive or maybe a thermo conductive paste. Keep it up friend

    To reinforce the case you can add some ribs that would fit between batteries on the bottom of your board and connect that aluminium plate to them. It will make it much stiffer and protect batteries from getting squished in case you land on something.

    Hi,
    The discharge connection is also via p+ and p-, connecting wires to batteries will bypass bms

      Thank you. If my longbaord will require more current I might bypass the BMS for the discharging process and control the voltage with an Arduino. Not sure yet...

    Very good work! I built an electric longboard, the best way to do it, is a brushless hub motor (or two !). I don’t know if you are thinking about it but it will save you money and time. I had to create an heavy structure with a lot of 3D printed parts to use a common brushless motor and to get something reliable. Also, it is not possible to get a strong 3D printed pulley but you can order one on the internet ;) I am looking forward to see yours !

    On section 6:39 , when explaining the battery protection, is that a mistaken labeling of the b1 for reference bat 4.2v and b2 for reference bat 8.4v? I'm confused with the blue wire as 8.4v instead to 4.2 v, since the blue wire is referencing the first battery.
    Anyway, good projects !

    Hey great video. but i'm curious, it didn't look like you were discharging through the BMS, which means you wouldn't have any protection like over discharge, over current, etc. I had a setup like this on my mountain board and I just used the ESC's low voltage cut-off. But if I had the BMS wired up proper as well I think it would have been better.
    Keep up the awesome stuff!

    • @ELECTRONOOBS
      @ELECTRONOOBS  6 років тому

      My plan is to bypass the BMS for the discharge to have more current and control the voltage with the Arduino that I'll be using to generate PWM signals.If not, the BMS I think has only 10A discharge protection and I need more. Is notrecommended to do that but lets see what will happen. Thanks!

    Please make an Arduino setup, to display the voltage levels of different battery packs. Like lithium 3s, 4s etc.. It will be fun to see the battery level information in voltage, percentage or graph in a color OLED or color LCD display. BMS with this feature costs a lot! But this should not be a BMS, it should be able to work with any battery pack, which already has BMS.

      I would make 7s. You get litle more speed. And atleast 4 cells parallel to get range and torque. Some peoples say that is not good to use lithium batterys whit brushed motor, but that is bullshit. I have brushed motor in my ebike and it is working well. I have 2pcs 10s4p 36v batterys now, and I'm going to update those to 13s.

    Also, youre using a 120A rated esc which is way higher than your battery 60A max current. is that safe? i thought your ESC current rating must be lower than of the battery current.

    • @ELECTRONOOBS
      @ELECTRONOOBS  4 роки тому

      Hi. Using a 120A ESC with 60A battery would only be a problem if the motor would draw in any case more than 60A. But for this proy maximum current was around 10A. Also using that 10A BMS was an error and I had to remove the output current limitation on order to work...

      I'm afraid that won't work at all. First off, you need the correct voltage for it to work. And the most important of all: even if you could get it working, it'd a futile effort as the power used by the computer will be exactly the same.
