Disney is legitimately just tasteless for wanting to remove this given it was Jim’s last performance. They could easily just given the area an update, but nope. If it does close, I will never forgive them.
Which is basically what it's been since Disney have acquired The Muppets. Feels like Disney are pretty much leaving them to gather dust, it's such a shame.
It's old news and not surprising at all but that doesn't make it any less disappointing to see it go, especially seeing that it was Jim Henson's last Muppet project. The attraction will absolutely be missed for sure.
FWIW, I emailed the Center for Puppetry Arts asking them to save it. Maybe they could make a deal with Disney to have a permanent theater at their museum.
I love Muppet*Vision 3D, and I am so sad and disappointed that it's closing at Disney's Hollywood Studios! However, Disney and The Jim Henson Company are still finding ways to preserve it, since this was Jim's last project.
Its for sure not what it used to be. The more they try to shut them down the more I want to bring them back. Fuel for the fire! They will always remain in our hearts and the hearts of our children. Puppets for life ❤ all the best to you this year
Very sad seeing this ride go, especially when this was one of the last Muppet projects Jim Henson was involved in before his death in 1990 and one of the last times he performed as Kermit The Frog. I think if any good things were to come out of this is if someone were to find high quality versions of the filmed scenes from the ride and became available online, which would probably be like the next best way to experience the ride.
To be honest, I am amazed it is still there. I think I saw it in 1992. There was very little in the way of 3D at the time, so it was pretty impressive back then. Unfortunately, leading-edge 1990's technology, like the Waldo character, quickly looked dated. I had completely forgotten about Waldo. The parts with the traditional muppets is timeless, so I think Jim Henson would have been OK with that part getting updated. If they had a copy of the film without Waldo, they could have easily updated the visuals as the tech got better.
I haven’t been hit this hard since they rethemed Splash Mountain, this is what got me into the Muppets and one of the first Muppet-related things I’ve ever seen, don’t get me wrong, I’m all in for a Monsters Inc ride that’s based on the door chase scene, but why can’t they build it somewhere else so Muppet Vision 3D won’t close?
I absoutley loved this ride growing up whenever my family used to visit to Disneyland once a year as a family thing. One of my fave things outside of the tiki-room show would be to watch muppets 3-d over n over again filled with much joy. I find it deeply sad that disney is closing it now. Havent been to dinsey in such a long time I have a feeling I'll miss my chance to catch my fave short muppet film one last time. Wish disney would treat the muppets a bit better soon. I would rather see them at least co-operate on letting another company handle the muppets stuff instead which would make me at least a little bit happier as a long time muppet fan. I would also just reaching near the end of the vid would love to see disney preserve the film of the attraction someway for us fans to still enjoy it someway.
7:31 I seem to recognise the white tiger on Jim’s left but I’m not sure where I recognise them from, any help as to their origin would be greatly appreciated I left a video suggestion on the last video by the way and I’m not 100% certain as to whether or not you saw it, so I’m popping it again below: It’s a similar idea to what DearestHershel did with finding the real life equivalents of places in the Professor Layton franchise, however in this case it’d be finding the real life equivalents of Wallace & Gromit locations on Google Maps (Probably best to skip A Grand Day Out as you can’t exactly go to the Moon on neither Google Maps or Google Earth) but you could do the viaduct from the end of Vengeance Most Fowl for example as it’s set in Pontcysyllte, Wales and alongside that you could find the Lancashire / Yorkshire viaduct which actually exists but doesn’t look like the one in Wales used to inspire the backdrop in that scene by including the Ribblehead Viaduct for example.
What a sad waste of potential, Disney should have sold the Muppets years ago, if they never actually intended to do anything significant with them. And it's a far more appropriate IP for the parks than Marvel or Star Wars, Jim Henson was hugely inspired by Walt. I think one of the big problems with updating the film, and I'm not trying to be mean, is Matt Vogel as Kermit. I think he's a very talented performer, but his Kermit lacks qualities that Jim and Steve gave in their performances. Although I do think part of that is Disney being so tight fisted and controlling over Muppet projects, they don't allow room for spontaneity, improv, or chaos in their kingdom.
Most theme park rides and Shows get Changed/Removed or Replaced in 10 or 15 Years. So this Lasting 30 only happened because they did not know to update it or replace it. That and 3D effects in Rides and even more for show ones are rare now the Avatar Ride was the last one pretty much and some places have removed 3D over the yearts like the Islands of Adventure Kong ride. We went on this ride every time we visted and this was the last 90's era attraction left in the place without changes but we all knew this was going to happen to it I mean look at the Pixar 3D short Films attraction. They is no effects added to that than 3D but they have been using the same three shorts for over 5 years and that is just puting a 3D effect into already existing short films.

I see it as a slap in the face to Jim’s legacy

I'm really upset its closing and I seriously think the muppets could thrive if given a chance at another studio

I’m Not Surprised Either!! I Saw It Comin’ From A Mile Away!
I didn't even know there were any Muppet rides, sad it's ending.
Also, wow, weird to not be a Wallace and Gromit video after you past many

Was just there Friday!

Shame but it was inevitable, often when a theme park doesn't update or refurbish old attractions, it's a sign that they are going to be removed.

The Lion is from one of the episodes of The Storyteller, The True Bride
Epic Video
arguably the biggest stain on bob iger's already extremley stained legacy as disney CEO.
