If you're having issues with your Predator 3500 inverter generator starting, it's possible that the ignition module has gone bad. Replacing the ignition module is a straightforward process that can be done with some basic tools. In this video, we'll walk you through the steps of changing the ignition module on your Predator 3500 inverter generator.
    Step 1: Safety First
Before working on any electrical component, it's important to disconnect the spark plug wire from the spark plug to avoid accidental starts. You should also allow the engine to cool down before starting any work.
Step 2: Locate the Ignition Module
The ignition module on the Predator 3500 is located on the side of the engine. It's a small, rectangular component with a few wires running to it.
Step 3: Remove the Ignition Module
Using a socket wrench, remove the two bolts that hold the ignition module in place. Carefully pull the module away from the engine and disconnect the wires that are attached to it.
Step 4: Install the New Ignition Module
Take the new ignition module and connect the wires to it. Carefully position the module back onto the engine and secure it with the bolts you removed earlier. Make sure the module is snugly in place before proceeding.
    Step 5: Test the Engine
Reconnect the spark plug wire to the spark plug and start the engine. Check to make sure the engine is starting and running properly. If it is, then you've successfully replaced the ignition module on your Predator 3500 inverter generator.
In summary, changing the ignition module on your Predator 3500 inverter generator is a simple process that can be done with some basic tools. Always remember to follow proper safety precautions when working on electrical components and make sure the engine is cooled down before starting any work. With the right steps, you can easily replace the ignition module and have your generator up and running again in no time.

You can usually use acetone or heat. We did a lot of reverse engineering and that usually got rid of the potting.

I have the updated version of the 3500 and ordered the module, opened her up (both sides) and I don’t see where they’ve moved the module to on the newer gen. Anyone found it?

It's either the ignition coil or check out the kill wire or the compression is low

I just discovered my 4 year old Predator 3500 generator is leaking oil out where the low oil sensor wires go into the engine. It is telegraphing down the wire into the ignition coil module and probably shorting it out. I'm thinking some kind of high temp sealant might fix this.

I have the same problem and same diagnosis - oil wicking down that sensor wire. I'm going to try a small dab of gasket sealer around wire at that seal. I'm also going to try to loop that wire so it drips to the bottom of the compartment instead of going down the wire to the ignition module. I was amazed at how much oil was along that side when the rest of the bottom of the generator was dry and clean.

@@clarkmcchesney134 I just put Permatex Ultra Black sealant on where the wires go into the engine. I ran it for about 1/2 hour and didn't see a leak so here's hoping. The Ultra Black says it is oil resistant.

@@RepairGang Okay, so I ordered the new ignition module and installed it and that did not fix the issue. Still no spark. so, you said 70% of the time. So the other 30% of the time what do you think it could be? Thanks for the video. It really helped. On a related issue, where the heck is all the oil coming from? The inside of the case is completely clean except for the ignition module and the little tray underneath which are coated with oil, including the ignition module.
I have checked the oil etc. Still no spark.
I was given two generators, free. so after cleaning up the first one and changing the oil, I think the first one had low oil and that's why it wouldn't start. This second generator is identical to the first one. I switched out the module from the ones that runs to the one that doesn't and that didn't fix it. So I'm sending the new module back and trying to figure out what's next for the second one.

i think mine is the culprit to why ive lost spark on mine, but i am wondering why mine was covered in oil as well. I dont see any place oil can drip onto it and the engine was dry. Possibly the oil came from the big capacitor? I also had no cracks on mine. Waiting now 4/15/24 for mine to arrive in the mail.
