I'd suffered with a rotator cuff injury ever since I fell and broke my kneecap back in October. Had trouble sleeping at night because of the lingering shoulder pain. Then I saw your video about the hanging pole. Put one up this past weekend and WOW ----- my shoulder pain is GONE!!!!! I'm very surprised about how little "hanging time" it took. No surgery needed! Yeaaaaaay!!!! i LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!😀
Thanks. Very helpful. Not that long ago I had so much pain in my left shoulder that I couldn't sleep. I saw this video and very slowly started doing the hanging exercise, as well as the pillow arrangement sleeping advice you offered in another video. At first it was excruciating just to lift my left hand up to the bar. But I took it easy and now I can do the exercises/hangs with little discomfort at all. One thing I noticed: After I got the hang of it (some pun intended) I didn't experience any pain when I positioned my hands on the bar in line with my shoulders. But as soon as I spread my left hand off center, wider, to the left, the pain was intense. It was like starting all over again. So I took it easy, like at the very beginning, and gradually that pain decreased as well. I made an effort to spread my hands as far as possible on the bar and now I can use a very wide grip with no pain. Hope this helps.
I have rotator cuff tear, my doctor recommended surgery, I looked in the you tube for some physical therapy to help, then I found you guys, I started doing it today Already have some pain relief, going to continue to do everyday Hope I don’t have to do the surgery Thank you so much
Thank you so much! When I search for stretches I keep finding physical therapists showing me exercises to build strength. Mine is already healed and has plenty of strength but I don't have any range of motion anymore and I need to stretch.
I remember subbing to you guys when you guys were around 10K. I like that you guys have always kept the same intro and always offer great advice and help and don’t try to sell us any b.s. programs. Thank you guys 💪🏼
Thanks guys I've been watching your videos for my frozen shoulder last year and its helped. Now I have a rotator cuff with calcification it's very painful. I have scheduled surgery on 9/15 were they try to remove the calcium but I'm worried it will return. I just tried these stretches and it helped tremendously! I have tried a couple other moves you both show in other videos but these helped me a lot more not sure why. The pain is awful it goes up my neck and color bone. Thanks again for all you do! :-)
Gentlemen, thank you for your advice and helpful exercises! I have had shoulder pain for years and this is truly helping! God bless you and keep you in His care always.
Got a sub out of me! The last couple years I have had an office job and a month ago I got a job loading semis by hand. And I hurt something on my body every weekend. The rotator cuff (sprain) has been kicking my butt last 2 days I did a variation of every stretch. And instantly it felt better. Thank you for your knowledge may God bless you two
I've been doing the chicken wing for months.....and at first it kills ( i had tweaked rotator cuffs) and as you do it the stretch sucks in a good way....but after I release my rotator cuffs felt so much better. Right b4 bed or after a workout feels great.
Thank you guys. I left my injury long enough for it to heal a bit. I thin I'm ready for some light stretches to help me make a full recovery. I will try these exercises. Have a great day :)
Been having shoulder impingement issues for quite a while now. My PT sessions did not really help. My shoulder seems to be getting worse. That last stretch you showed, though a bit painful, did lessen my pain immediately and kind of increased my range of motion. I just started! I'm curious how this will pan out in the next few days/weeks. How many reps to you recon I should do every time I do this stretch? And how many times should I do this everyday? Thanks again and keep up the good work. You guys are really helpful AND entertaining to watch. You guys have great chemistry.
@@whiskey-f1p Sorry for late reply. I didn't realize people had questions for me. To answer your question, my range of motion is a whole lot better now. I don't think it's at 100%. I would say more like 90%. That's a whole lot better than before. I haven't done that stretch for a long while now, but that's because I don't really notice it anymore.
Is preventing rotator cuff impingement & rotator cuff tears more about stretching the shoulder muscles or strengthening them? If strengthening is a factor, do you have any strengthening videos as well?
I think I pinched a nerve in this area when I was doing dips and didn't give myself enough space to spread my arms out . Now I'm having issues in my hand down in same arm . Not sure if it's connected to that but I'm getting overuse type sensations in my hand I think it's just that since I do use my hands alot at work . I will do more exercising
Bob and brad coming clutch again best relief I've got in years usually I press my trigger spots and boy does it make it worse.i have to take medicine everyday for this sucker.......I can't tell if it's my cuff, shoulder ,trap ,infrapintus,or neck,or back, makes my muscle in the ribs sore I crack my neck every day...this exercise gave the best relief in my rotator cuff ...now off the trapzius muscles............I'm guessing it's pinching a nerve in my neck which causes a headache which sent me to the hospital once....oh well I guess it's my fault I stubborn and don't rest..
left shoulder clicking? I have a minor clicking in my left shoulder when lifting a 5 lb weight ? Right shoulder - fine. But left shoulder clicks in certain lift positions ? Any suggestions ?
Really useful thanks. One question about the hanging stretch, it seemed from the video that this is a passive hang rather than an active one, is that correct?
Hi, I was just watching your three rotator cuff impingement stretches. On the "chicken wing" one, which is the affected arm -- the one on top or the one below? I have been diagnosed by MRI with moderate tendinosis with a partial-thickness bursal sided tear of the supraspinatus tendon after tripping and falling on my RIGHT outstretched arm 4.5 months ago. The orthopedist is recommending physical therapy which I will soon begin. I think you guys are great and hope to supplement any therapy with some of the exercises you suggest. Looking forward to hearing back from you regarding the "chicken wing" one. Thank you!
I fell 10 weeks ago and am trying to avoid surgery for my rotator cuff. All these movements are quite painful. Any suggestions to help my muscles do what you want them to do during stretching? Muscle relaxer, heat, cold, anything else?
those are great stretches.. i use all of those sorta.. i couldnt even lift my arm a year or so ago.. i would put my arm up on the rafter and hang lightly,, then i graduated to one foot,, then finally tiptoes and finally no feet. i stretch on the door jam with one arm.. i use a 7 foot shepherds staff .. i would use one arm to push the bad arm up and stretch it on my walks or sideways or backwards and behind the back.. when i was a swimmer i could put my arms straight up on the stick and go all the way back and down without double jointing, about 2 ft apart.... now i have to spread them about 4-5 ft ..but thats better than not being able to lift an arm.. it took a year..it takes time..go slow..doc johnny

Nice video real helpful also recently been having problems with rotator cuff and also a torn muscle underneath my shoulder basically my trapezius if you guys have any stretching or videos on that or helping recover torn muscles... that would be great 😝
I had a pretty bad shoulder cuff injury tendon damage on a pullup bar and I was battling inpingement since 17 yo, now Im 24, I have started weightlifting around 6 months after injury accident without much treatment or healing. My job is important to me so I cant get surgery and take a vacation...When it was more uncomfortable then painful I started training (with huge limitations) and I CAN ONLY CONFIRM hanging and this kind of exercises work to lessen discomfort and pain especially if you chose to train without surgery then especially in the gym before a set of bench press etc. it will help hugely on your quality of reps and strenght/balance/scapula retraction...I still train but even tho I am trying to train bench press, back...arms... I cant do the exrecise which caused the injury PULLUPS. If I do a rep it pinges and hirts like hell and I cant apply pull strenght with left arm+scapula and hand is shaking like it cant find support...if you know what I mean.
Rotator cuff injury from bench pressing. Able to lift with no pain besides shoulder presses and side lat raises. but the injury just won’t heal. Going forward an mri. Hopefully it’s just a slow healer. Better than it was day one my shoulder felt like it was going to fall out. I could t bench at that point. It’s hard to know what is helping and what is making things worse. So frustrating. Left and right shoulder right is a lot worse.
How will I know the impingement is healed? I’ve had the pain completely stop before then I got back to lifting and the pain will gradually come back. When will I know I can lift overhead and bench press again? Should stop altogether?
Jeff Cavalier has many more stretches for the scapulae, the shoulder muscles and each rotator. I like the statue of liberty, definitely will add that to my cool down because the hang is a great waker upper. Esp for spine decompression
