When a HOA tries to argue "property values" you KNOW they don't have a legal leg to stand on.

If HOA wanted to "preserve the view" then THEY could have bought the land to restrict construction.

Heard of this same scenario before about a homeowner who lost their house to a fire, and the HOA gave them all sorts of grief about their rebuilding their home. This HOA wanted them to use window frames and roof tiling's, sink tubs, and door frames, etc. that were no longer in use for their rebuild. Every time they tried to plan, the HOA would block them, until they finally found out that in the HOA bylaws, they could not dictate how a private homeowner rebuilds their house. In fact, as long as the homeowner has the correct permits and whatever else is needed to rebuild, the HOA cannot interfere no matter how much they biotch and moan about it!! Check the HOA bylaws and rules to see what it says about rebuilding a home, check your county office as well for building permits, construction codes, etc. Check the HOA CC & R.
oole it and here is Q&A: can a HOA tell a homeowner that they have to use materials to rebuild their house that has been discontinued after the homeowner loses house in fire?

No, an HOA generally cannot force a homeowner to use specific building materials to rebuild their house after a fire, even if those materials have been discontinued, as long as the replacement materials meet the HOA's established standards for quality and appearance, and are considered "reasonably equivalent" in terms of maintaining the overall aesthetic of the neighborhood; in such situations, it's best to consult with the HOA and potentially negotiate a solution that works for both parties.

8:00 This really happened in my neighborhood. A plutocrat's ego was further inflated by his son marrying the daughter of a big shot politician + teaching hospital owner. They have the second to last house at the other end of the street where I stay. Someone bought the vacant corner site and started building. Mr VIP went to court because his privacy was "being invaded". The new home owner won. To add insult to injury, the new guy deliberately built the house cheek by jowl to the one owned by Big Shot and left a large vacant space beyond it. LOL

The giant raised middle finger may be objectionable. But OP could grow a bush and trim it to resemble someone bending over with their derriere facing the HOA

This story happened years ago in my home town. There was a very posh street of expensive home. The homes were on a bluff overlooking Lake Michigan. The street had homes on one side with the opposite side of the street was Park land with trees & bushes. The homeowner disliked the fact the trees & bushes blocked his Lake view. The homeowner purchased power tools which he used to cut down the bushes & trees that were in a city park. In a couple of days the homeowner had opened the a clear lake view. The government arrested the homeowner & he confessed the removal of the bushes & the trees. When it went to trial the government found that fine for deed was a couple of hundred dollars & that was it. There was a general displeasure through out the city. In a short time the government placed much tougher laws & legal consequences to any future similar acts.

The case of " The Canal Street Condo Owners Vs Kennedy ( Cook County Circuit Court Illinois) proves that a " view" is NOT an intrinsic right of property ownership, in this case the condo owners sought to prevent Chicago Developer Chris Kennedy, ( yes one of the Kennedy's) from proceeding with a project on property he owned on Chicago's Historic Wolf Point ( where the two branches of the Chicago River Meet) on the grounds that said project would harm their property values by blocking their " view " the case dragged on for quite sometime before the Judge tired of the condo owners antics, and ruled as above, and the project was completed. ( just in the interests of transparency, I was the first of Mr Kennedy's employees to learn of the impending suit, when one Friday evening I was confronted when an angry mob of them surrounded my desk, demanding to know if rumors of Mr Kennedy's plans were true, because employees at my level weren't informed of his plans I referred them to higher authority when his office opened on Monday and they finally left.)

First story, should have sued the company for attempted wrongful termination or discrimination. If the camera footage didn't even show the 'groping,' then Karen's accusation was dead in the water. The HR center shouldn't have had the termination paperwork based on Karen's say-so. The pen recorder was a nice addition though.

Disability story: My daughter, 22, has low spine Spina bifida. She uses forearm crutches to walk but a scoot for long distances. I can't tell you how many people have assumed she was faking to get attention or so she can be lazy & use a scooter. She always shoots back with showing them her closure scar at the bottom of her back. She tells them the scar is her "tramp stamp" the doctor gave her at birth! She also hates the word disabled... she says she is "physically challenged"... she claims challenges can be overcome!! Her favorite pastime is rock climbing!!

If an HOA sues you for existing because your house blocks their views, sue them for ruining your peace and enjoyment of your own property. I swear HOAs need to be graded for how tyrannical they are like we grade restaurants for cleanliness. And the grade needs to come from the home owners and NOT the HOA president or board.

The crazy karen in the bookstore should have been charged with assault compounded by the fact that the victim was disabled.

Sad part of working for a company with human resources (HR) and sexual harassment is you have to prove your innocent. You have to say what you say and do around people because you can't trust anyone because the next day they can turn on you.

This is one of the better ones. I hate when you do the voice of what sounds like some old man in a drum voice. I just stop it there. This voice is both interesting and enjoyable to listen to. I doubt comments make a difference. I do love the stories.

Kid crossing story. The OP finally says it wasn't their problem anymore. Actually, it never was their problem to deal with. The kid will have to learn to cross the road by himself sometime. If it's that big of an issue, the school should have an active crossing guard and/or local authorities should be putting in a crosswalk that stops traffic with lights. Also, if the road has an easement, which they probably do, and the kid's standing at the side of the road on an easement, it's not the school's business what the kid or his mom were doing there, either. Sounds like OP needs to practice a little MYOB. Call the police if you think something needs to be done, and let them handle it.

It's the US. For all we know, it happened in an "at will" state and they don't really need an excuse beyond ensuring there's no lawsuit.
I stopped trying to wrap my head around the but that makes no sense" bits of apparently daily slice of US life long ago.

The AI narration for these videos sounds like it's talking in word salads and has very poor diction. It must have been done on the cheap. Frequently the narration does not match the text on the screen and sometimes the words are nothing but gibberish masquerading as the English language.
