    I know this is an old video but I thought I would share some important info with you.
    Just in case you were unaware, if your Zippo seems to require filling too often, it could be an issue with your wick - not that the lighter is inefficient. Until sometime in the last 10 (maybe 15 or 20 - I am not exactly certain) years, Zippo would run your wick down through the cotton wading for you. Then it was discovered that they could save ten of thousands of labor hours yearly by simply cramming the entirety of the wick into the top of the lighter, filling it with the wadding, and installing the felt. So anytime you purchase a brand new Zippo , the first thing you should do is remove the felt & wadding and properly run your wick the length of the Zippo, adding the wadding as you go....

      I literally rerouted a wick in my Zippo yesterday for this reason! In fact I’ve been considering making a video about it. Thanks for reinforcing my idea !

      @@Pizzscn You are welcome! It is the most likely cause for a Zippo seeming to run out of fluid too quickly...

      Elaine Harper, you say that at the zippo factory, they found that they saved thousands of hours of work by putting the wick at the top. How do you know? Do you work at the zippo factory? When making claims, the sources should be cited.

      @@giovanniabazia4394 Actually, you are mistaken... I am under zero obligation to provide any thing more than I have already provided. Believe me or don't - it is of little consequence to me, either way. Or, here is an idea: go do your own research, if you want to know that badly.

      @@elainelharper76 hi Elaine Harper, I don't need to do research, because I have been a zippo collector for 30 years, and I have never seen zippo wicks, arranged in an S shape, between the layers of cotton. I have always seen that the wick was placed in the upper part of the insert.
      Best regards.

    Bicycle innertube cut to fit your zippo and slip it on it will hold fuel alot longer. And its east to fold down for use

  • @justinromang9113
    @justinromang9113 3 роки тому +1

    Try bending the case of the "new" one, from the outside in; along the narrow surface, along the Vertical Axis. "This is an attempt at Planing the Curvature of the surface.
    In so doing, the corners of the small Case-Surface, will slightly extend - the rectangle of the "old" one should fit then.
    *Don`t bend the large Case-Surface* - that would cause the same issue.

  • @lomgshorts3

    You cannot use black electrician's tape to "seal" the fluid in the lighter. The evaporation of naptha (the fuel for the lighter) will cause the adhesive in the tape to disintegrate. Instead, get a used inner tube for a bicycle tire and cut a strip one inch wide and use it to seal the lighter. The inner tube is made to resist grease and gasoline, so it won'rot away

    If you cant spin your flint wheel, try to loosen up the screw a little bit on the bottom of the lighter. That did it for me, i thought i needed to screw that thing tight, wrong.

  • @silent_bob_

    The flat insert doesn't fit because of the corners. The overall width is the same, but the face on the old zippos is a bit wider.

      Just send it into Zippo if the striker wheel ony works backward. I suspect that there may be two flints in the tube causing too much tension on the striker wheel - its happened before to me on a newly bought Zippo. Check that out first before you send it in for warranty repair.

    Find a small diameter inner tube so that the rubber will grip the lighter tightly and seal it well. This also keeps the lighter waterproof. Empty Bic lighters can be harvested for their flints, so don't throw them away until you get the flint out odf the bic. I always keep a ferro rod handy in my bug out pack, too. The rod may not be as handy as the Zippo, but it is "forever" if you use it right.

      A Zippo is the original "flint and steel" lighter. You can use it without the lighter fluid by stuffing your tinder inside the windbreak. OR, you can stuff your pack with a small steel can of lighter fluid, two Zippos with several flints inside the lighters under the felt plug in each.

    Why do you keep calling it a "Walmart Zippo"? They're the same exact Zippo sold everywhere else. If I handed you my lighter and told you I just got it from Zippo.com, you'd never know the difference. So what's the deal? Why does everybody call them "Walmart Zippos" like they're inferior? You guys feel like they're not as good because they cost less? Maybe they're made cheaper? Is that what you think? If it makes you feel better, they sell the same lighter for $23 at Walgreens. I guess people feel like "you get what you pay for" and since they're paying half as much at Walmart, they think they're getting half the lighter?

    My zippo caught my car on fire today for the second time in a year.. Tossed my barely used 1980 Navy Zippo over onto the seat after lighting up and clicking it closed.. Wee all know that clicking a zippo closed is a reflex, especially after 40 yrs of smoking... Happened last year also with my other vehicle...I cant believe this actually happened to me twice?? Both time the passenger seat burned up.. It seems the cushion of the seat must aid the lid in popping open and the lighter then re-ignites.. This second time was bad.. Came out the store and the seat was a blaze!! Almost burned the car up this time.. Burnt the crap outa my hand putting the fire out too... So.. Of course, in wondering about the co-incidence, I then went home and got online and discovered this has actually happened with car seats before where they claimed an elderly gentleman "fumbled' with his lighter and it caught his seat on fire.. The man died so I dont know how they wld know how it had really happened... Id bet the same way. All I know is that I didnt "fumble" with mine.. Lit my cig and tossed the lighter over onto the passenger seat after clicking the lid closed...Same as always.. (At least up until today..Wont be doing that anymore) First time I was just away frm the vehicle for less than a minute.. This last time I actually made a "fast" purchase in a store and came out to to find my seat totally on fire.. I was amazed at the co-incidence..My question is.. have you ever heard of these kinda things happening?? The zippo itself burned up pretty badly and the lid came off due to the heat of the fire.. Crazy aye... So...Do you think Zippo will still replace a totally fried/broken lighter coated with black cooked on cushion fiber??

    • @Pizzscn
      @Pizzscn  6 років тому +1

      Wow, sorry that has happened! I would try to get out of that habit definitely.
      Zippo will be able to replace it. They don't do repairs based on the exterior finish of the lighter, but they will acknowledge it and if it is totally ruined, they will just replace the whole lighter.
