Great video... Believe it or not, you actually helped me with something that baffled my son and I for a minute. That little vacuum hose came off when we we cleaning out the factory air box. We couldn't figure out where it came from at all! Thanks for showing that it came from under the intake manifold...

Quality series you have going on. Just got done watching the other vids on your 8, and im glad i picked one up 2 years ago(06 gt velocity red 6 speed mt). I honestly think the rx8 is one of the most misunderstood cars in the market imo. Its a hidden gem for sure. Subbed and will follow this series/build.

What brand and size are your RX8 wheels?
An intake is the best mod for the RX-8. It does more for the character of the car than any exhaust mod can. The sound is almost crotch-rocket like. No other car gets that from an intake. 9K rpm will take on a different meaning!
Yeah I was surprised by how much of a difference it made in the top end!

As this car is your daily. Did it increase your gas consumption? That green solenoid that you left on the OEM airbox didnt pop up a code?
for anyone coming to this old video, get a truck air filter, the ones these come with are too small and actually restrict air flow in the higher rpm. also everyone complaining about the serviceability of the air filter lmfao. Your engine won’t last long enough to reach the service interval for an aftermarket filter..

So to clean the filter you gotta take off the bumper each time or can you get to it by removing the belly pan/splash gaurd?

It came with the silver RX-8 I bought, but you can find them online for around 100.00

I got a similar intake coming tomorrow. Does it matter if you put a wrap over the filter?
I am not sure about the wrap. I have never used one. I thought I read they rob a little HP, but don't recall.

i like the way the metal looks but to each his own
They put screen sections into two of the couplers, but I don't quite understand the logic since you run an air filter. I can't see a big Mr. Hanky making it's way up the intake tract that far lol.
those screen sections arent for filtration, they are meant to help streamline the air before it gets to the MAF sensor.
I like how in the end you magically made a Sweet CF Shock Tower Bar appear!

Yes that's a knockoff intake the am intake the filter is 12in and made out of aluminum not plastic and that install job should only take about an hour tops if that

The intake shouldn't make a difference unless you don't have the air separators in to straighten the air for the MAF
@@TheSlipAngle my o2 sensor was the problem lol I replaced it and now the air intake works and car runs like a champ
1:10 Did you notice any gains after the install?
I noticed a slight bump in top end power at speed. The header was the most noticeable bolt-on I've done on this car.
Im sorry for being a downer on this but this is a downgrade for you rx8 because sure it gives it air to the intake better but you lack cooling since it blocks the radiator which is more important then more direct air into the intake even though the stock one reduces pressure in the the front
Eh water Temps weren't impacted. There's still plenty of real-estate to get air flow with the filter there.
hey i just installed one in my rx8 and now mine wont idle have any suggestions on how to fix it?

It might be to direct the air flow since it is MAF
@@TheSlipAngle Yes, the purpose of the screens is to reduce turbulent air before the MAF. I had an intake without the screens and the idle was very sporadic

I can have the bumper on and off in 30 minutes now that I know what is required, but yes I agree, it is a fair amount of work.
