Hi Jill!!! Thank you so much for this AMAZING solution!!! I had three extra large white towels that had been used as a recliner cover ... for a long time.... they were so dirty...the recliner stayed clean but the towels were almost gray in color from dirt, food crumbs and I even think some of the dye from dark blue jeans had rubbed off onto the towels... I put the towels in the washer on pre soak cycle...after 2 hours the water was filthy so...I let the tub empty and rinse one cycle in hot water... I then refilled the tub with hot water and your miracle laundry cleaner mixture again....and let it soak again because 2 hours was still not longer enough....the towels were better but still dirty..... Then... I let it soak in hot water until noon ...so overall... I let the towels soak for a total of 11 hours ....I let them soak in my washer....I would put in a little bit a hot water every 1 to 2 hours and let it agitate for about 5 minutes and then let it sit.... The towels were so beautifully white!!! I was so suprised and pleased!!! .... PS... I just remembered...I did not use 1 cup of powdered detergent...I replaced that with 1 capful of Melapower 6x scentt-free laundry detergent...it is the detergent I currently use....
I prefer using distilled white vinegar instead. 1/2 cup of vinegar in hot water and soak overnight. It does the job without harsh chemicals like bleach.
Automatic dishwashing detergents contain sodium hypochlorite (Bleach), even if they're powdered. If anyone is thinking of skipping the liquid bleach to use this on colors you'll still have bleach in the mix from the dishwashing detergents and will probably cause colors to run.

In case someone needs the recipe written out: 1 cup laundry detergent 1 cup generic dishwashing detergent powder 1 cup chlorine bleach 1/2 cup borax Just enough hot, hot water to sufficiently cover your items About to try this now with non-chlorine bleach. Will report back on how it went for me
Arisellia yeah I don't think her recipe would work if you used oxiclean instead of chlorox bleach. actually im not convinced it would work w either type of bleach. I recommend a potion of dish soap (blue Dawn is prlly the most popular), hydrogen peroxide, and baking soda. let it soak overnight in a sink, bucket, or a tub. then wash w regular detergent as normal. if it doesn't work, I'd try soaking it in oxiclean BUT you gotta make sure you use the right amt and wash it out super thoroughly. oxiclean doesn't rinse out very easily (white vinegar in the cold rinse cycle can help). if you don't get it out, it will make everything dingy grey and it will attract all sorts of dirt and oil and stuff. good luck!

Chlorine-based bleaches can not working with any kinds of detergent. It must sperate to 2 step. A 2008 study indicated that sodium hypochlorite and organic chemicals (e.g., surfactants, fragrances) contained in several household cleaning products can react to generate chlorinated volatile organic compounds (VOCs).[15] These chlorinated compounds are emitted during cleaning applications, some of which are toxic and probable human carcinogens. The study showed that indoor air concentrations significantly increase (8-52 times for chloroform and 1-1170 times for carbon tetrachloride, respectively, above baseline quantities in the household) during the use of bleach containing products. The increase in chlorinated volatile organic compound concentrations was the lowest for plain bleach and the highest for the products in the form of "thick liquid and gel." The significant increases observed in indoor air concentrations of several chlorinated VOCs (especially carbon tetrachloride and chloroform) indicate that the bleach use may be a source that could be important in terms of inhalation exposure to these compounds. The authors suggested that using these cleaning products may significantly increase the cancer risk.[15]

How much clothing do you put in with that amount of solution? Or another way to ask is how much water to that solution? Can I put a sheet in the wash for that amount?
This is also a pet peeve of mine, but please do not use the word "guarantee". What works for you and others may not work for everybody. I will try this, but I've tried many formulas with these same combinations of ingredients, they work very little, or nothing noticeable, lets be clear I'm talking about the most greyed, dingy old whites, not those that are slightly grey, so I'm not hopeful this will work. Isn't there a white dye that you can simply dye your greyed whites to a bright new white, won't this solve the problem?

I live in a condo and we only have commercial washers, can i just soak my whites in a tub of hot water with the miracle solution and then wash as usual?
Never use bleach in hot water. I would have let the item soak in the hot soapy solution first until it cooled down (several hours). Then spun the well dissolved soapy solution out, remove the item (using gloves), fill to same level with cold water, add Chlorox liquid bleach, agitate or stir, then re-add the soapy item making sure it is completely covered with the bleach water, and let sit overnight.
Is this good for HE front load washers? Is there a liquid version of this? I have no powdered cleaners, save for those in detergent pods (prefer not to make any detergent). What would the proportion of ingredients be, per load, for HE cleaners (one cup powder detergent recommended for a load= two recommended portions of HE detergent for a load)?
I thought Borax and Bleach are not supposed to be mixed together because they make a toxic fume or something of the sort that is poisonous if breathed in !?!?
Has anyone tried this method by using oxyclean in place of bleach? Im not good at doing laundry and need a lot of help! I have a bunch of whites that have been in my hamper for a while and Im afraid to wash them with bleach because some of the clothes are not all white (they have words and designs etc). Some of the clothes are not even a month old and are already dingy! I am desperate to get them white again and am excited to try this method! I already went out and bought all the ingredients but am wondering if I would get the same or good enough results if I use oxy clean or even color safe bleach such as tide bleach?
One of my favorite things is Shout Color Catcher sheets. You put them in the laundry and they draw all the floating color into them instead of into the clothes.
Put a bucket in the bathtub. Pour hot water in from a tea pot (may need 3 or more). Add the mixtures and stir with a painter’s new wood stick. Let sit over night or a few hours. Open front load door and put the garments in first then some of the liquid. Close the door and wash in hot water.
@@lenoramcginnis4794 yes, it should. Only thing is once the hot water starts coming in you have to race with the machine before it “locks you out” and you can’t open to add anything in the hot water.

Spray perspiration stains w/ hydrogen peroxide & let sit 30 min. Then wash w/ regular load of whites w/ bleach. May need to repeat or stay on longer. Line dry outside if possible for additional whitening.

If you add a cup of bleach, no one can beat that, the problem is that your fabric will start to wear out with bleach
hi jill, i have a question about the dishwashing powder. what brand do you use, I am not sure about a dishwashing powder? thanks, debbie
@@eddyvideostar just learned a new word today(flummoxed), thank you!!
eddyvideostar beware of dishwashing detergent in front end loaders (no suds)
Debbie Gomez I used Cascade
How can I stop my washer draining water, when I pause my washer the water is drain
You, need to soaking it into a bucket, and when it’s time, put it inside the washers machine.
melida gasa unplug it...
how would this work with a front load? I can't just let it soak in that machine.. so would a sink work to let it soak?
Shelley Collins I did read in the comments, someone let it soak in their sink over night than put it in the washer the next day.
SA RO yeah someone threw them in the dishwasher the day after
Just turn it on and back off when it fills with water. Soak and then restart.
are you letting the clothes soak in that mixture or just letting the mixture sit overnight before putting the clothes in?
She said she let it soak
REALLY
I know that ur question is now 3 yrs old, so I'm HOPING that u have exercised ur brain cells just a tad. Like when my (grown) children ask me dumbass questions, I tell them "think for a second...". So now I say it to u... THINK.... how does letting just the solution sit overnight get ur clothes clean??? Wouldn't the clothes get cleaner if they were IN the solution in that time?? Use it brain, dear; I PROMISE YOU, it won't hurt! 🤪 LMAO
Toni don't be a bitch
What wasinh machine lets you do all these things; mine will not. 😡
Lmao
Dear Sheri N: Try some hand washing to experiment at first with one or two items.
No vinegar in your recipe?
Can you add vinegar to the rinse cycle for an added brightness?
and the reason some say its not working is because your item isn't yet clean
When you say powder dish detergent, are you referring to something like Cascade?
No
@@traciebecker6669 Y did u say that?? Cascade IS powdered dishwashing detergent! Duh 🤪 It may come in other forms, but it's STILL dishwashing detergent!🙃
this must be a very old recipe....went to 2 stores yesterday, all ingredients are now in liquid form. for the dishwashing powder, i had to open 20 pods to get 1 cup. no one makes powder laundry detergent. could not find borax at all.....can liquids of these ingredients be substituted? and the ratio if using liquids...TY
My washing mashine is not likeyou have its from side and i cant put waterin it can i sock it in the bucket thank you
How do you suggest getting a jersey white again. They both have other colors on them and I washed them with a dark jersey so they are now gray. No matter what I do they will not go back to white
This reminds me of my fire-ant elimination method: douse the fire-ant nest with insecticide, sulfuric acid, gasoline, arsenic, and bleach, then set it on fire
LOl!
@vanhouten64 That works! I got rid of all the fire ants in the backyard!
Bonus: I don’t have to cut the grass for the rest of the year!
Yes, this works for me, too. I thought it was my secret!
😀😋
Lol
Have you ever washed cloth diapers? They get "yellow" after awhile...would this work on them?
So how well did it work???
@@mercedesbenzs600bash How well did what work? Have an awesome day
I have hard water so seems that affects the whites. Will this solution work with hard water?
What would suggest for some tops that have some cotton? Wouldn't all that hot, hot water shrink the material?
Can you use liquid dishwashing detergent
I love doing laundry too!!!!
This got coffee out of my white shoes. Now I’m hoping it will get the mud out of them 😂😂
How to you do it on an upwright machine?
Any idea how to clean dirt stained colors? My son has to wear bright orange safety shirts. They're orange for about two days then Brown
i know this is a kinda weird question but im trying to get the dingy white off of my RV i have a pressure washer but i need a solution do u think i can make this and rub it all over my rv and than let it sit awhile n than pressure wash it to make it white again?
Where is it safe to do it with white shirts with graphic designs on them?
So how do you get the water to not go full before you start to do the agitation? I use the laundry in my apartment building. . .I have thing slike t-shirts that need to be whitened and unders as well.
May I please know the washer you are using?
i used bleach on my white towels and it made them yellow?? i was sooo confused. they were white before the wash and came out yellow. does anyone know why? also how can i restore them. im scared of using bleach again. can i leave the bleach out¿
I do not have powdered dishwasher soap does anyone know if I can use like liquid dawn how much do I use ??
Why are making that when you have very good bleach, like Clorox lemon-scented bleach and Restoration for Vintage and Antique linens? That last one removes tea, coffee, blood and ketchup stains? So why are using that for?
Well I tried this today. It took out some of the yellowing, but not much. I may have to add more to the wash,
mrscelopez57 you have to soak your clothes for several hours
Can you please help me I have white dish towels with blue lining but all the white is so stained how do I get them white again!?
Can you use liquid laundry detergent?
Chrissy P I Believe So.
Chrissy P no...
OK so I just went out and bought the powder dishwashing soap, Borax and Bleach. But I only have liquid washing machine soap. What to do???? Leave the liquid soap out or add it in as well. Hoping for an answer soon as I cant wait to try this.
Yes, she clearly sez "use any detergent u choose", so that means u can just use ur normal detergent, then add the rest of the "miracle" ingredients 😉.
Will this work when u wash ur white clothes with a red shirt my 80 dollar hoodie turned pink
Anyone ever notice a bluish tint from bleach ?
my cloth is white and several color . I am worry if using bleach that will make the color not bright anymore. And if using hot water will that make the rubber cloth soak ? any solution ?
tapki
What about white quilts? Would it work?
What about front loading washer? Mine says no powder :/
can I pre-make this and leave it in a jar for my mom so she doesn't have to make it each time? and will be the bleach be okay leave in the solution for like 3months
Absolutely!
I live in a condo and we only have commercial washers, can i just soak my whites in a tub of hot water with the miracle solution and then wash as usual?
I live in a condo as well. Laundry room on each floor. I put mine in at 5AM and let it soak for 3 hours. Nobody even new it.
Ugh, I have a front-loading machine. Any tips?
Just do the soaking in a bucket or large stock pot. Works just fine.
@@byjillee perfect. Thank you.
Did the clothes actually survived this?
Does this leave front loaders out?
No, you'll just have to do the soaking in a large bucket or something similar.
hate to say this but if you have to let it soak then its the bleche doing the whitening
Why can't we use bleach in hot water?
Is this good for HE front load washers? Is there a liquid version of this? I have no powdered cleaners, save for those in detergent pods (prefer not to make any detergent). What would the proportion of ingredients be, per load, for HE cleaners (one cup powder detergent recommended for a load= two recommended portions of HE detergent for a load)?
Julian-Aime R mmmmm
Why didn't you show us the results?
I thought Borax and Bleach are not supposed to be mixed together because they make a toxic fume or something of the sort that is poisonous if breathed in !?!?
You are thinking of Chlorine with Ammonia. Do not mix those.
Hey! I have the same issue. Did you end up trying with non-chlorine bleach?
One of my favorite things is Shout Color Catcher sheets. You put them in the laundry and they draw all the floating color into them instead of into the clothes.
I love this! How do I do this in my front load HG that has places to put detergent and it's supposed to be liquid?
Put a bucket in the bathtub. Pour hot water in from a tea pot (may need 3 or more). Add the mixtures and stir with a painter’s new wood stick. Let sit over night or a few hours. Open front load door and put the garments in first then some of the liquid. Close the door and wash in hot water.
@@CocoChanelle-1 Thank you!
@@CocoChanelle-1 Also, would this work with the soak button on my front loader?
@@lenoramcginnis4794 yes, it should. Only thing is once the hot water starts coming in you have to race with the machine before it “locks you out” and you can’t open to add anything in the hot water.
I dumped my front load.
@One good thing with Jillee Is there a way to make white t-shirts more white if you accidentally stain your Shirt in the washer with putting black socks in it together?
How would this work with a front load?
Patti Jones 😂😭
Just pause it after it fills
CLR will remove any body stain including the yellow armpit.
Spray perspiration stains w/ hydrogen peroxide & let sit 30 min. Then wash w/ regular load of whites w/ bleach. May need to repeat or stay on longer. Line dry outside if possible for additional whitening.
@@54jeanmarie hydrogen peroxide should only be used for whites, just FYI. It will bleach colors!

Can you so this on a shirt that has a logo on it?
This is not for anything that has colored fabric. White's only!!
I have a shirt that whight but has color on it I have a lot of them pictures of pizzas and aninals kids shirts what can I do to wash them they always blead to each other idk what to do
If you add new clothes that may "bleed", be sure to add a sheet of " color saver", or " color catcher".
Colors don't run onto other clothes. The sheets look like drier sheets and are in the same type of box.
Any safer sub for Borax?
I'am Gonna try This to keep my white clothes real white
What is Borax?
Is it the same like Baking Soda?
Not the same as baking soda............a powdered cleaner that comes in a box that improves the results from laundry detergent..... that has been around as long as I can remember.
