KOTOR 1 allowed you to "use" items directly from th Inventory, which is a trick that allows you to heal in combat without having to line up a Medpack to waste action on it. Basically, you fill your actionbar with attacks and, whenever you need healing, you go to your Inventory, find the Medpack and doubleclick it, so it gets instantly activated. Can't remember if this trick works in KOTOR 2...

I've always taken it more as she put the experience of Exile onto the three masters, and they chose to keep the force, as you because, as you mentioned, they have grown so attached to it. They fear losing it more than the thought of death. The idea that Kriea was giving them a choice seems more in character than simply forcing that kind of experience without at least seeing if some would let go.

Best game ever mostly made. Thank God for the restored content mod. Never once considered using the plasma torch for anything other than a door opener in all my playthroughs. Neat stuff.
Nice video my guy. Well done. About a year or so ago I decided "Hey, I have Kotor II on Steam but never got the achievements, that's a good enough reason to replay a video game I love." so I went on and had one run as a dark side Force Witch and one as a light side Jedi Knight. And let me tell you, childhood me was such a dope. If you have the brain capacity to make decisions that actually optimize your playstile you turn into a god. Even more so with gear but honestly, you could run around basically naked by the end and still oneshot everything. This game lets you become so powerfull, it's great. Just as one example, my force witch killed the whole army of Onderon in the throne room in two turns.
So true about preparing and properly building your character. I thought both of these games were so hard as a kid, but I didn’t really understand how to play a game like that. I played both recently and found them to be very easy (except for the final boss fight with Kreia, that shit sucks) because of my experience playing other RPGs.
you can cheese the fight pretty easily, the AI pathing for the lightsabers is realllly bad, so if you just run around they'll get stuck and you can just go whack kreia and kill her instead

You did an awesome job keeping the spirit of the challenge intact without boring us with handwringing about technicalities.
Fun fact. You actually get slightly more xp by killing the Sith on Peragus with the turret than by letting them board and killing them manually. I tested it when doing a grenades only run. You do of course get the loot if you kill them on board
Your fucking commentary is so good. It's like my brain in a UA-cam video which now that I read this may not be a good thing. Amazing video for one of the best games ever made.(Also, I had issues in all the same areas as a kid. Kid brain is the real endgame boss.)

I never really understood the morality system in Mass Effect. Only now I realize that it's basically the light and dark side of the force from Star Wars. It's not good vs evil. It's nice vs asshole. Love me some KOTOR content! Thank you! By the way, you can activate solo mode to leave your companions behind in obligatory segments. It doesn't prevent them from fighting if they're in a fight, but it prevents them from following you, meaning unless you have a fight right off a loading zone, they won't get involved. Just something I thought to mention, but it makes no real difference. Your build could still take on those fights alone, just a tiny bit slower.
Just recently started playing this game again! You need to save Atton at the end as his ending where he lives is so much better.. just make sure you defeat Sion as Atton and you're good
That combat encounter @ 10:40 could be delayed if you have a companion with you. First wait for the TSF agent to approach the encounter trigger. Then pause the game (the combat pause not the menus), and order your MC to talk to the agent. Switch to the companion, and unpause the game. Once the MC is beyond the trigger you could switch back to him, and continue solo.
29:00 thats actually a really good friend of mine! The devs held a contest back in the day, and he won! They flew him out to take reference headshots and modeled him into the game as Nikko. He cosplays the character every now and then 😄
I found you because of this video and challenge. To put it simply, I love it and the countless Halo videos you've done. Would love to see more vids of KoTOR challenges and dogging the game for the old systems it has. Great job, keep it up!
Hot tip: you can use items and fight in the same round of combat. If you open the items menu each round of combat you can use any of the useable items - this includes health packs, stims, and shields. Limited to one item per round and doesn’t interrupt your queued attacks.
Pretty cool video! It reminded me of the existence of a glitch that lets you play as the robot from the ithorian quests in place of the main character for the rest of the game which made me curious of it's challenge run potential. Their class leaves a lot to be desired with a lack of force powers, useful feats and even unusable equipment slots... But maybe you could unlock a prestige class to make them competent in combat? Grenades seem like they could compensate in dangerous situations early on too.
I'm so glad you made the 3 days grace joke about darth sion. So I got this game 6 months after it came out. I found it in a bargin bin at Walmart and bought it for like 5 bucks and spent the rest on an ungodly amount of snacks. Anyway at the time my older sister was REALLY into bands like Fall Out Boy, 3 Days Grace, BB, MCR. Admittedly I was too but I never went full emo. Anyway so as I played this game from spring all the way through summer (yeah it took me that long I was really bad at first and restarted twice) my sister would be blasting those cds. That music became synonymous with the game for me. Of course the game literally came out the same time so it would have happened anyway. But anytime I hear an emo song from that era my brain immediately goes to this game. And as an adult now when I play this game I subconsciously started humming those songs. Created literally the most positive memory I have in gaming besides Saints Row 2
I never knew this when I was kid and played (they literally tell you too) but the buffs Kreia puts on herself buff you as well so every play through now I just turn her into the healing/buff slave. Probably would’ve been helpful
I love this game so much. What a great video. When i last played this game i was to young to understand most if its mechanics. I always thought saving throw was some kind of martial arts move where you throw the oponent to save yourself. I need to replay this game with my adult mind xD. Thanks for the inspiration.
Man what a pleasure to see KOTOR here ! Best frog ever playing exactly like me looking for solutions on the internet to optimize the play session and using the level as healing ! And it starts with a nod to "The philosophy of Kreia" video, an absolute masterpiece
I just realized I've played this game 9 times and never actually finished it i always forget about the last map.... i always end after atris and the white dressed people and then talos i genuinely haven't beaten this and i don't know why i haven't... well i have a new plan for this weekend now thanks for teaching me the way :P
Watched a ton of your halo videos lately thinking "man this channel is really fun" and then you go and upload a challenge video about my favorite star wars game ever.
Here’s a small tip: start the prologue and follow it until it lets you go to the outside of the ship, turn on solo mode have one droid deposit your items in one of the spots that lets you collect “parts” and have the other droid collect fragments mines from the missile, it will endlessly respawn if you don’t have any in your inventory so switch to the other droid and deposit the mine. I did this until I had a 1000 mines it took about 4 hours if I remember correctly it’s been a few years. After you collect as many as you want get all of your stuff collect everything you want and it’s a good idea to make a few parts and computer spikes you can sell the rest and save 30 of them for the disarm exploit. When you’re done with everything go to the cockpit and use the computer in front of the right side chair to skip the prologue and you start the game with all of the items you collected.
I remember getting my mom to drive me to the midnight release of this game. Met my best friends outside of gamestop that night as we grilled literally everything that was brought to us.
Kotor 2 hold a very very special place in my heart, this game and the og battlefront 2 are the reason why i love star wars. With kotor 2 i remember as pretty much a baby ( 4-5) years old watching my older brother play this game so when i got older got to play the game because how available the game became i immediately bought it. I have the game on my phone and switch. Plus the characters were do enjoyable i mean Atton is him and Bao-dur is cool with his remote (learned years later that he can become a jedi which was a shock even my brother didn't know) also the story 🔥
I swear this dude and me had the exact same experience with this game, i.e. using the same tips/tricks to get specific outcomes/loot I always get the zeison sha armor before leaving telos, and lasts until atleast mid game
*sees video in algorithm* Ohh, one of my favorite all-time games! I remember the Plasma Torch. I always kept it because it was a decent fallback for picking locks on literally anything! *sees him sharing a couple of lifehacks I never got to try* So, THAT's how you get Atton to be a Jedi/ all the Jedis. Man, I really wish I could play this game again... *REALIZES his Plasma Torch build is basically the same as a single-weapon Melee build* I always wanted to be a sleek, black-robed samurai in this game... ... ... checks Steam *sees KOTOR II on sale for $10* ... well, then. I guess it's time to go to work. *rewinds video*
Fun Fact: The Duros look like that because they literally used Halloween costumes for the cantina scene in A New Hope. That's also why Devaronians are literally just devil guys
This video is a certified Hell Yeah and has earned you a sub. I love Kotor 2 but have not played it as much as Kotor 1. I had NO idea you could turn so many of the party members into Jedi. Dope ass game.
My favorite memory from kotor is activating the secret ending cheat 5 minutes into my first playthrough then forgetting about it. I went like 30 hours playing completely seriously or so before getting the Twilek Dance party ending out of nowhere instead of the epic boss fight I was expecting. I was so confused until I realized what I had done all those hours ago lmao.
Really enjoyed the KOTR 2 content, would definitely enjoy more of these videos from you! Sadly a game I was too young to play and enjoy at the time, was more of a jedi academy enjoyer (even an 8 year old can work out how to press left click and f for force powers) but this is getting me excited to finally give it a proper go.

Do KOTOR 1 guns, grenades and mines only (a regular geezer) solo with the difficulty mod - That's a fun ride 👍
Kotor challenge runs was not something I thought I needed in my life.
This genuinely makes me want to replay the game. Preferably with your character design, cause being OP as hell seems funy.
Man what a pleasure to see KOTOR here ! Best frog ever playing exactly like me looking for solutions on the internet to optimize the play session and using the level as healing !
And it starts with a nod to "The philosophy of Kreia" video, an absolute masterpiece
16:45 Frog our Christ helping the homeless. I couldn't agree more! 😊
dude hands down this is the most slept on best channel ever, fulfills my nerdy soul, i need to play this game again
Interesting
2:06 man i havent heard a joke this casual and amusing in awhile.
When you watch a video for a game youve been replaying every year for 20 years and still learn new stuff from it.
Your Commentary is always gold
It fills me with joy to see people still playing this timeless classic.
I remember getting my mom to drive me to the midnight release of this game. Met my best friends outside of gamestop that night as we grilled literally everything that was brought to us.
love this game, also been playing it since childhood. never occurred to me to use the plasma torch thru the entire game.
You referencing the Philosophy is Kreia video is gold.
Also pazak
I swear this dude and me had the exact same experience with this game, i.e. using the same tips/tricks to get specific outcomes/loot
I always get the zeison sha armor before leaving telos, and lasts until atleast mid game
*sees video in algorithm*
Ohh, one of my favorite all-time games! I remember the Plasma Torch. I always kept it because it was a decent fallback for picking locks on literally anything!
*sees him sharing a couple of lifehacks I never got to try*
So, THAT's how you get Atton to be a Jedi/ all the Jedis. Man, I really wish I could play this game again...
*REALIZES his Plasma Torch build is basically the same as a single-weapon Melee build*
I always wanted to be a sleek, black-robed samurai in this game...
...
... checks Steam
*sees KOTOR II on sale for $10*
... well, then. I guess it's time to go to work.
*rewinds video*
16:52 okay I’m subbing 😂
Fun Fact: The Duros look like that because they literally used Halloween costumes for the cantina scene in A New Hope. That's also why Devaronians are literally just devil guys
"Mormon Darth Maul" is the most accurate description of Bao-Dur I've ever heard 🤣
It makes me happy to see someone who loves this game as much as I do.
More KotOR 2 content please, it's an amazing game that I fear is being largely forgotten these days
Awesome to see a KOTOR 2 video in 2024 from someone who also grew up playing it, great video!
“A grey protocol droid”
HK50 absolutely fuming at that one
