Pretty sure your issue with the smuggling compartment cover is because you needed to put it back in tab side first. You kept doing the opposite so that tab never actually went in to keep it closed. In some of your closeups you can tell that it's slightly raised because of that.
I’ve kept playing with it after filming and no matter which way I’ve tried it it’s loose and falls out. I think the small tab of plastic that’s supposed to keep it in place is just broken
I have some modeler's wax. A tiny little bit on either end will solve that problem. Still removable, but will stay in place. Honestly, how often is a collector going to open that panel? I kid might for play, but not an adult collector. ;)
Despite many other negative comments, and although it isn't completely perfect, I absolutely LOVE this Falcon and think they did a great job! I wish the little storage room by the boarding ramp, was also a detailed medical room, which would greatly improve playability.
Action Fleet was my favorite series as a kid and I always wished they'd do something like this for the larger ships: basically make them proportional with the smaller ships and release them as a playset with a decent interior. The $45 price point isn't bad considering the detail both inside and out.
Definitely better than Action Fleet when it comes to relatively scaling, but still massively undersized. The whole Micro Galaxy Squadron line is supposed to be roughly 1:100 scale, which would mean that the Millennium Falcon should be 14" or 35cm long.
I think they are twisting scales. The figure are approximately 1". So that makes them more or less 1/72 scale and when you can seat them that means atleast chairs are close to that. But then they have just shrunk everything to look pretty close
I have it and it’s weird. I don’t have the floor storage problem. Also mine has a wash on the cockpit lid. I think you just got a dud. However I do have that issue with the landing gears. Kind of annoying. I personally like mine, but I don’t have the same issues as you. Wish they came with stands though. So I can display them flying.
Push the engine noise button 4 times, 1 let it start, 2 let it start, 3 let it start and on the 4th push it makes a lightspeed engine failure noise. Try it. 👍🏻 Cool factoid: Obi Wan Kenobi and Princess Leia were never together inside the Falcon... Yet they included both figures, for playing before the story really started, and for afterward. I respect the honesty of your opinion. However, I only paid $9.98 for mine last weekend at Walmart, so I have zero complaints for $10. If I had paid $45+ I would have some complaints. Another thing I noticed about these, is that every one of them are different. The washes and tones, fogging on the glass, etc... I looked through about 8 of them to find one that fit my liking. Good review. 👍🏻
Congratulations! Great review as always. So far I have 4. Falcon, Crest, Tie Advanced and the X-Wing. Excellent detail and I love how they all scale to each other.
I have a solution for the secret floor in the falcon - you can go to any art supply store & purchase an eraser putty (they usually come in grey color which will blend in nicely with the Falcon) - all you will need is a very very small piece from the eraser putty & place it @ the end of the compartment door. The tack on the putty is light but strong enough to hold the compartment panel in place. It worked great for my troublesome compartment panel! 👍
I bought one, but I don't mind the issues (landing gear, smuggling hold, panels, boarding ramp) . The paint wash simulates weathering as the ship had gone through many skirmishes between Solo and the original trilogy. As for the smuggling hold compartment, why not leave it in place undisturbed. The lights and sound motion gimmicks are so good as the ship evading maneuvers outrunning TIE fighters into an asteroid field.
I think it's fun my son really enjoys it, he's had some people break or loosen up. But I do wish they had put in the instructions how to do the engine failure unless it's an Easter egg but it over all it's really good.
I got mine yesterday from Amazon. There were some twerks that I had done like shave the landing ramp pegs down a bit. I had noticed that they were bending in a bit and the landing gears had to be tightened a bit. Thank you for pointing out that sound of something loose, I did the same thing and found nothing but it would make sense that it is a sensor. I also had to clean up my Leia figure( the paint apps were a little off) all in all I am very pleased with this line. Thanks again for the awesome review. 😊👍
The floor panel fix is easy. I'm sure you've figured it out by now. Look for the tab that clicks near the box molded to the floor. Tab in, gently drop. scoot slightly the other direction. The wash on the windows can be removed with water and a q-tip. Squeezing both sets of landing gears inward while holding makes for a good grip and keeps them from folding up.
There's quite a few nice details, but it seems like a few corners got cut. I don't love the that smuggling panel or landing gear either, the compromise of the attached body panels would've been fine if it was stable. Blaster sounds are kinda boring, but those motion control engine noises are cool. That black wash seems really uneven and has a lot of puddles, too. I'd definitely be doing a lot of detail paint touchups to break up that all grey, especially on the interior. I was excited for this one, but it's a bit disappointing. I was originally hoping they'd also be making a Ghost, but now I want 'em to wait until they improve their process.
I agree, I find that a ghost would really need an amazing paint/ wash balance, since it’s got such a specific look. But man would I be excited to get a ghost in this scale with an interior!
Thank you for the review. I think they did a good job on it for what it is. Where it shines though is as an excellent base to add some of your own paint apps and customizations like mini LEDs, there's loads Han and Chewie could do with it!
I saw some more at Target today and half of them did have black wash on the cockpit and half didn’t. Also the quality of the black wash was all over the place. Could definitely use some quality assurance in the work on this ship.
A very sharp and detailed review👍 Regarding the two main flaws (smuggler's trap and cockpit plain external painting), you might have received an early batch/faulty unit. Some other reviews do not show such weaknesses. Probably an area for QC improvement for this promising line here. Very nice channel (full of passion) that I am just discovering🤗
I just got mine the other day for around $20. It is 7 months after your video but my smuggler compartment is in tight, almost too tight. For yours I would use a few little dots of white sticky tack. I like most of the exterior paint, but the interior needs some love which it will be getting. I love to customize things.
In reality the gear doors hinged and bi folded to tuck in half to let the gear cycle. Also this is the 5 gear empire version. A new hope only had 3 gear. As an aside this was the work they were doing in the Hoth hangar on Echo base in Empire.
I think gluing a tiny magnet in the smuggling compartment and a tiny piece of steel to the door would work to hold that in place. It can't weigh much at all. This would definitely benefit from additional paint apps. It looks like the wash was literally just spraying the parts on a conveyor belt and letting them dry before assembly. Paint apps is one of the more costly manufacturing steps though, so they're carefully limited to keep the costs down. A wash is much cheaper. The clear parts aren't just dirty, but they're a really cloudy plastic. They're more frosted than clear, not great. There was a toy in the 70s called the Star Bird that had sounds that changed with tipping it up and down. That literally had a metal ball that rolled forward and back as the sensor. This should have a more modern solid state accelerator. I think it does given that this can tell side to side and inverted movement too. I bet later when we get a farmer Luke and 3PO to put in there it will be a nice little display. I expect that you're right about a landspeeder with those figs coming. The Dejarik table does in fact go in that area. From coming up the ramp, turning to the right takes you to the circular corridor that has the cockpit hall on the right and the lounge on the left. The same corridor is also where the smuggling compartments should be. The toy has it in the engine room for space savings. Thanks for the review. With some TLC at home, this could actually be a nice tiny scale Falcon.
Honestly, the wash issues aren't the worst for me. Action Fleet had similar issues from what I recall. I actually like that the wash goes on the inside as well. Shows off all the detail. A solid first attempt at something in this size class.
The wash is good for the most part. There are areas though where it is just dripping down the walls and looks bad. Especially around the outside wall of the gun turret and on the smooth interior wall, next to the entry ramp. (I'm going to clean that up with some lacquer thinner. I might try that on the cockpit window too.)
I believe you just have to use 2 hands to get the floor hatch to snap in place. Mine works fine. Also, I think your falcon landing legs are just funky. Mine work great and stay in place. I was also told in a comment on my video to press the power button 4 times for another noise. I believe he said hyperdrive fail. But I can’t remember for sure. I haven’t tried yet cause I took my batteries out. You should try and if it works show it in the next video! Thanks for the detailed video man. I hope to get on your level of details on my videos someday!!
I’m also probably a little biased because I never had the Kenner Falcon as a kid and this is the first one I’ve had that figures can interact with and has features. Only other Falcons I have are the Hot Wheels die cast. Enjoy your channel and livestreams a lot. MTFBWY
Haven't read the comments yet, but that smuggler's panel inside in the back is supposed to tab in securely. It does on mine! I think you got a broken one. Sorry!
exactly my thoughts- the finish is a little off with the battle damaged distress- but it's not atrocious- I wish they had added some digitized voices and a couple forward running lights- and the John Williams Star Wars theme- and Han's theme from ESB- they can fit more on those nano micro chips- come on! the 1982 Kenner Micro Millennium Falcon is STILL the reigning Champion of ALL micro falcons- let's face it! but here's an idea- take the '82 and this Squadron Falcon- and steal the Lights and Sounds chips from it to SOUP up the '82 Kenner Falcon! what a challenge!
The one I just received has a securely fitting smuggling compartment panel. I have to pry it out. It fits very snuggly. By the way, the cockpit "door" is a different plastic, so it looks different as well as being not as heavily washed. You can also use rubbing alcohol to remove the "wash" they used to dirty these ships up with. Can also let you just lighten some.
Vegas guy here. Yeah they mainly had these in Targets around town starting on Sunday July 31(it was not technically released until Monday August 1), but they released them a day early at the Target near Spring Mt and Rainbow which is where I got mine! Havent seen any in Walmarts in Vegas yet though.
I actually like the Micro galaxy falcon ... I have a huge collection of action fleet ( actually think I have pretty much the entire collection , including the aliens and star ship troopers) , if you compare the action fleet falcon vs micro galaxy it's a huge improvement. The problem with action fleet was nothing was to scale and the micro you have a sense of scale.
This ship has a few issues, but I think most people are being too hard on it. Considering it's size, figures, all the detailed tooling, features, lights and sounds, $45.00 is a very reasonable price for this. Especially in today's market. That being said, I will now list the things I think would have improved it, without being too costly. First, I do think the figure choices were odd. Leia and Ben were never on the ship together. They should have swapped out either Leia or Ben with Luke. (Or just gave us all five. And Threepio and Artoo, for that matter.) My cockpit canopy has the wash and my hidden floor panel works good. The landing gear could use a notch to hold it open better. I think the Dejarik table/booth and the turret cylinder should have been a little smaller to increase floor space. (Maybe even get Han's desk/chair in there?) It also would have been nice if the removable ceiling panel would have included the area over the corridor leading to the cockpit. They definitely should've kept the wash off of the window "glass". The boarding ramp should have been designed so that the hinge end of the ramp was flush with the corridor floor, instead of having that huge drop off. Making it a little bigger or including a stand would definitely be cost prohibitive for something like this, that is supposed to be a reasonably priced line. So, while those things would be nice, I don't consider the lack of them as negatives at this price. I think this ship looks great and works well. A- for me.
I think if they improved some of the quality control issues then I would have rated this higher for sure. I do like it, but just too many negatives for me to give it a full on Rad. but it's hard since my rating is very black or white. There is little nuance to Sad or Rad haha
it should be a little bit bigger to actually be on scale with the figures, the landing gear is way to low compared to the figures, even if the real one on screen is not that high. Also making it somewhat bigger could leave room for more accurate spaces inside the falcon. It's a nice toy and i'll buy it but it's not on scale as they said when the line was revealed.
It's a nice model and I'll get one, but it's not quite in scale with the figures, it looks as though it should be about a third larger. If you look at the cockpit, there isn't enough room to allow the figures to get between the seats to exit or enter. I know it's nit- picky, but hey, you started it!😂👍
I really think for a first go around this is good , I think we will get a varient or exclusive of the Han solo or sequel falcon with ray or Lando, but can you I'magine if the next one is the hoth at at 😬 this line has so much potential I hope we get the tiger shark paint job clone drop ship as a varient
Hopefully selecting a Falcon in store you can select from a few of them to get a "good" paint job. When doing the Amazon thing you get what you get. We are all toy snobs and select what we think is the "best" one...🤣
Hey Dano, thanks for the great content. My falcon storage door doesn’t have the same issue. Oh also inside the razor crest there’s a place for Mando’s jet pack
P.S. The hidden compartment plate has a little tab on the left hand side. You place that part in and then press down. That might help, but if you were doing that then it might be a defective part.
I got mine in the mail today and I don’t have the floor problem I think you might be putting it in wrong you have to put the back tab in but idk if you were doing that also my landing gear work fine but my cockpit in unwashed
I wonder how much difference there would be with a different one. Like if I got a Falcon, would the compartment just come off, would the blackwash be similar etc. Once you pointed out the cockpit, then I noticed it on the back of the radar too. Like all the separated pieces got a different wash treatment, and some is really obvious. I really do like the size, and electronics are ok, but it seems not as good as say the Razercrest was. Really need to go look in store to see if I can find any of these.
I thought I read somewhere that while all the vehicles are in scale to another, the exception is this Falcon. It's a little smaller than it should be. Note the cockpit in particular -- There is no room for the doorway in the back.
You must have a dud Falcon? The cockpit cover on mine has a blackwash; the landing gears are solid; the smuggler cover stays secure. Hopefully, you replaced yours! I'm not sure if the cannon effects are accurate... watching the dog fight in SW77, the cannon sound seems to have a start-stop not heard on the Jazwares falcon. I'm no expert, so I'm willing to concede that I was just hearing things. Anyway, great, honest review!
I have the same problem on my compartment cover on, no matter how you inset it. EXCESSIVE black wash on mine, those recessed areas on top are 100% black, and trailing the vents way too black. I returned it got a better one.
smuggling compartment on mine fits and stays just fine, and i have wash on mine's cockpit cone. maybe you got a bad one, or maybe your not fitting the smuggling panel in right
Your smuggling compartment piece must be defective. Mine snaps firmly in place. I also unscrewed mine to find the source of the rattling thinking something was broken inside because it was driving me nuts. Guess we just have to live with it. The wash is a bit heavy-handed. I’ll be going iver mine with some Q-tips and rubbing alcohol.
One plus is it has the walkway which the Action Fleet one didn’t have which is a shame, however while I would say it’s superior in many ways to the Action Fleet version there are a few issues that if are common will detract from the value of the Micro Galaxy Squadron version. My Action Fleet Millennium Falcon has landing gear that retracts when you don’t want it to, shame this one has the same issue but it does have one major advantage over Action Fleet in that it has electronics. None of the Action Fleet vehicles had that and they never had instructions as well which is strange. The Action Fleet one had a gun turret that lifted up to hold a figure and movable gun turrets at the top and bottom, but lacked the interior for the most part. Overall the Micro Galaxy Squadron version is great and also a failure. I prefer the Action Fleet version in the end. One panel let the MGS down! (To start with).
A good fair review of a flawed toy. You've got valid criticisms and worthwhile observations. There SHOULD be friction tabs to secure BOTH the floor panel AND the landing gear, but the design doesn't seem to have those. For the price of it.......that's a bit of a frown.
Hey Dan, just opened my Millennium Falcon and didn't come across any of these issues on mine. the only thing I did find similar to yours was the flimsy landing gear.. but the floor panel on mine stays on super tight it's actually quite an effort to open it😅
I got mine from Amazon and it has a better wash than yours came out. My cockpit windows are a little clearer than yours, but not much. I can kind of see the characters in the front seats. My smuggling compartment fits much better and is actually very difficult to open once closed. I think overall unfortunately, you got a bad one.
You definitely got a melon. Mine doesn't have that compartment issue. No glob of paint, plus my landing gear feels pretty stiff. All those issues won't matter once it's displayed anyway though.
Nice, but not perfect. I would have ditched the lights and sounds, made more use of the space inside the ship, made the top of the corridor that leads to the cockpit removable, made the landing gear lower (and the ramp too) and made the removable center bit have room for two figures and have a cannon on the bottom. I get that the lights and sounds are to appeal to kids, but I was never a lights and sounds kid myself - I preferred playability.
I mean it’s really cool and looks the business but that panel and the washing is sloppy. It’s a rad from me because I know Arlo (Padawan) and I will enjoy playing with it but for the price 🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️ Hope you’re well Dan-O🍺
Yeah, i do not like that the cockpit got skipped in the wash... that is something that would ALWAYS stick out to me. the lights are cool, but the sounds hertz my ears... Diamond Select Star Trek Ships had a always ON feature for just the lights, i would very much like to be able to just turn on the LEDs without any sounds and not have it turn off after 30 seconds, but i'd rather have better paint and detail than electronics... and i'd swap better exterior detail for all of the interior in a heartbeat. I don't know... might be a skip. I also would like it to be a bit bigger at that pricepoint...
they used un unclear sort of plastic for the cockpit, that really seems like a big mistake, for that will be the most used way to display it...but after watching them all and really want them for the scale, you know what kinda bothers me now? that the figures don't seem to be on scale with the line at all? they can't seem to stand or really walk up that bridge right? so that makes we question the scale at the moment cause when you go all the way down to the speeders, those seem in line with figures themselves
I think for the sort of "flagship" toy of the first wave this is...honestly one of the weaker sets of the bunch. Still cool, the lights and motion activated sounds are neat, but it has a lot of unfortunate issues.
A part of me kinda wants this to come with the rectangular radar dish from the sequels, but I know that's just because they want to sell a version of it with the sequel trilogy characters. I get it, but also, why not just have everything in the same package for a slightly better deal?

@@Dan-O that might be a possibility or a bad casting missing some plastic. I'd suggest exchanging it for another. Still waiting on mine from Amazon.

Broken tabs.
I always wanted to get the Action Fleet growing up but I never got to get one. This feels like a 2nd chance, especially for the Falcon.
I just ordered mine today! Can't wait to get a Model Paint set and detail the interior !!! Maybe even try to add some additional lighting?

I was also told in a comment on my video to press the power button 4 times for another noise. I believe he said hyperdrive fail. But I can’t remember for sure. I haven’t tried yet cause I took my batteries out. You should try and if it works show it in the next video!
Thanks for the detailed video man. I hope to get on your level of details on my videos someday!!
I’ve messed with it a lot more since, and I think I just have a busted floor cover. The small plastic tab must be broken. 😞
@@Dan-O Dang man. I think you just got a bad one. I also just realized that my cockpit has the wash.
Good review. Valid points. 😁
Yeah same just targets around here soo far for the Falcon. Blue Diamond had a bunch yesterday too
Oh I just paid $24.99 on Amazon for this ship. So awesome. I just saw it at Target for $44.95 so crazy.
It does make me wonder if there is going to be a Lando millennium, falcon from the solo movie.
I hope so!
Ooooh that panel that falls of bothers me just watching it
I actually like the Micro galaxy falcon ...
Saw it at Target yesterday wasn't sold on it did get the At-St and the Vader tie fighter though
I think there all good
Hey Dano, thanks for the great content. My falcon storage door doesn’t have the same issue. Oh also inside the razor crest there’s a place for Mando’s jet pack
Yeah I think the one I got is just a bad one
The panel inside on mine does snap into place and stays. Maybe that panel is upsidedown. Maybe it’s just defective. Nice Ship!!
Seems you got a bad one. My copy's cargo panel stays in place, even upside down. The landing gear is solid. Very happy with mine.
P.S. The hidden compartment plate has a little tab on the left hand side. You place that part in and then press down. That might help, but if you were doing that then it might be a defective part.
Yeah my tab is busted or missing 🤷🏽♂️
@@Dan-O You know, I really wish that Jazwares update their site to show this line and some direct contact info to replace damaged or missing parts.
@@johnthardeniv6206 oh that would be nice.
I got mine in the mail today and I don’t have the floor problem I think you might be putting it in wrong you have to put the back tab in but idk if you were doing that also my landing gear work fine but my cockpit in unwashed
My panel is just busted. 🤷🏽♂️
@@Dan-O darn that’s a real bummer hopefully in time they will improve
I wonder how much difference there would be with a different one. Like if I got a Falcon, would the compartment just come off, would the blackwash be similar etc. Once you pointed out the cockpit, then I noticed it on the back of the radar too. Like all the separated pieces got a different wash treatment, and some is really obvious. I really do like the size, and electronics are ok, but it seems not as good as say the Razercrest was. Really need to go look in store to see if I can find any of these.
I definitely got a dud
Kinda want to scratch build the tunnel going to the cockpit. Not sure what's in that part, might be structural... Hella curious now
I thought I read somewhere that while all the vehicles are in scale to another, the exception is this Falcon. It's a little smaller than it should be. Note the cockpit in particular -- There is no room for the doorway in the back.
Oh that’s interesting
And if you stand a figure next to the open entry ramp, it is obvious how it is under scaled.
The one I got has a much cleaner wash on it, you have a load of blob of paints on yours that mine does not have.
I hope you will review the Ghost, it's a monster of a ship!!!
I have the same problem on my compartment cover on, no matter how you inset it.
EXCESSIVE black wash on mine, those recessed areas on top are 100% black, and trailing the vents way too black. I returned it got a better one.
smuggling compartment on mine fits and stays just fine, and i have wash on mine's cockpit cone. maybe you got a bad one, or maybe your not fitting the smuggling panel in right
I can totally understand your opinion on this one.
Same
Your smuggling compartment piece must be defective.
If you rotate gunner turret just right you can remove it to put a figure in
Yeah but you need tweezers yo place it properly…
@@Dan-O even after you pull out whole tube???? I've seen other reviews and once whole tube is out it looked pretty easy 🤔
@@plutoyaldnil4750 It is indeed pretty easy.
Yeah. Sorry about your storage compartment. Mine fits fine. Very snug.
Are we getting the royal starships in assult size .Id really like that and a pair of escorts ?
A good fair review of a flawed toy. You've got valid criticisms and worthwhile observations. There SHOULD be friction tabs to secure BOTH the floor panel AND the landing gear, but the design doesn't seem to have those. For the price of it.......that's a bit of a frown.
Hey Dan, just opened my Millennium Falcon and didn't come across any of these issues on mine. the only thing I did find similar to yours was the flimsy landing gear.. but the floor panel on mine stays on super tight it's actually quite an effort to open it😅
You got a bad one. My smuggling compartment is good. My black wash looks better as well. Also my cockpit cover on mine is black washed.
Good to know!
Yeah, my compartment was good also. But I also snapped it in firmly with two hands so maybe thats why?
I really don't like thruster light shining through the plastic on the back of the ship.
Did you try to stalling sound ! I did not hearing it when you tested the sounds. One thing l did not like is that the lower cannon does not move !
I agree, those little things would bother me
Never tell me the odds
It can get stress marks from opening and closing which really sucks.
Yeah I definitely got a dud
I ordered online but then found it in a store and cancelled the online one 😁✅
I mean it’s really cool and looks the business but that panel and the washing is sloppy.
It’s a rad from me because I know Arlo (Padawan) and I will enjoy playing with it but for the price 🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️
Hope you’re well Dan-O🍺
The wash if unforgivable! Butt ugly. Messes up a great, great item.
0:56 i finally kniw how it feels to be a glup shitto. 😎🤣
they used un unclear sort of plastic for the cockpit, that really seems like a big mistake, for that will be the most used way to display it...but after watching them all and really want them for the scale, you know what kinda bothers me now? that the figures don't seem to be on scale with the line at all? they can't seem to stand or really walk up that bridge right? so that makes we question the scale at the moment cause when you go all the way down to the speeders, those seem in line with figures themselves
Omg. I was going crazy by you talking about how the floor compartiment didn't fit well, WHEN YOU HAD IT BACKWARDS!!!@!!
Snaps well and stayed well if you only had patience and use your head instead of your muscle!!!! It works well when you do it right
Nah mine is broken. I’ve reviewed other falcons where it worked great. Bad quality control.
It was the right way. Just broken.
@@Dan-O sorry Dan, it was just frustrating to watch. Keep it up
Dude needed a cranberry juice before this episode
What does that mean?
I think for the sort of "flagship" toy of the first wave this is...honestly one of the weaker sets of the bunch. Still cool, the lights and motion activated sounds are neat, but it has a lot of unfortunate issues.
Hello
Just in time also first
A part of me kinda wants this to come with the rectangular radar dish from the sequels, but I know that's just because they want to sell a version of it with the sequel trilogy characters. I get it, but also, why not just have everything in the same package for a slightly better deal?
Too bad these don't come with stands like the Action Fleet.
