    Action fleet was amazing. Everything cost effective. Could get a bunch of ships and characters for low cost. I played with them all the time. Basically the ships were the action figure size and the figures were accessories for the ships. Playset could be large compared to the humans as they should be. It worked really really well. Most of the action fleet figures were statis pilots but some had guns and weapons and those were the figures that got more play value. Those were usually in sets with other more action oriented mini figures.

    I will defend this line to the very end as I love toys of Star Wars vehicles, and the fact these are for the most part to scale is a major selling point. And let’s not forget all the different ships available right now and coming soon. There’s ships from literally every era available from Republic gunships, x wings, to tie fighters, and several versions of the millennium falcon oddly enough, I have 2 myself. Listening to the guys who make this line talk about their passion and that they do listen to what vehicles the fans want or what features they want is true dedication right there. Plus the paint on the figures is getting better every wave. And the fact that the preorders for upcoming ships sell out fast shows there’s plenty of life to this line

      @@darrenccwong exactly, hasbro pretty much gave up making ships so it’s nice to see someone else take a shot at it. And this line has ships you’d never expect to get toys, like ventress’ starfighter or all the different Jedi starfighters that are coming out. The guys making this line have even said they want to make every tie variant that exists so that gives me hope for a tie defender eventually

    Collectors with a little bit of building skills could in fact make their own display stands for these vehicles. Honestly it is something I'm thinking about doing.

  • @imadubsfan1
    @imadubsfan1 Рік тому

    Great points made here. Imo I think Jazwares was trying to strike a happy medium with satisfying both the younger crowd who want to play with these and the older collectors who just want to display them. It's pretty clear this line is vehicle focused, which is why only vehicles have play features, why only vehicles are scaled up/down but figures are unchanged, and why they haven't released any accessories for the figures themselves. If you look at the new Imperial Shuttle, the doors are too short that the figures can't stand under them, even with how tiny the figures are already. They scaled down the Shuttle so that it's small enough to collect (more room for you to buy more), but big enough that it doesn't look out of place with the rest of the line.
    Despite the figures being more of an accessory to the vehicles rather than actual playable figures, I think the line serves it's purpose. We already have 2 different scales for figures (Black Series/The Vintage Collection) and MGS fills in the vehicle void. It's small enough to prevent space concerns, lends itself to being more affordable, but is still full of great sculpt and detail. I do agree that Jazwares totally should have included display stands. That's a glaring flaw for sure.

    Honestly some do have flight stands. As a ship collector, I’m just happy for some variety and stuff to buy. To me the figures are display accessories, as I’m too buy swooshing the ships. I think that if they added a Bandai display plug/hole, I’d be happy. I suspect there is a farm Luke speeder in our future, to make the proper falcon crew.

      The Luke landspeeder is coming, but I heard that’ll be a blind box rare figure. Oddly enough there does exist a falcon toy with the farm luke figure instead of obi wan, it’s called the Death Star escape I think and also comes with 2 tie fighters

    I already had plenty of Transformers, He-Man and GI Joe so my parents refused to buy me any 3 3/4 Star Wars stuff, but they did get me the Micro stuff though. The little playsets were pretty damn cool, but play with the figures was limited obviously. I did get a ton of mileage out of the TIE Fighter and X-Wing that "blew up". The Star Wars X-Wing tabletop miniature strategy game has spaceships that are nice looking, to scale, and come with stands. I have the Falcon, the Ghost, the Phantom, and the RazorCrest. They look good in my Star Wars cabinet, but just wouldn't work freestanding. I also bought myself Bo Katan's ship, because frankly, it's the best looking ship since the Falcon and I have that as a desk ornament and Bo can stay where she is, with the canopy closed.

  • @valettashepard909
    @valettashepard909 Рік тому

    Funnily enough, both the slave I and Falcon are a little bit underscaled in this line; Slave I in particular has always been particularly underscaled in toys. The cockpit on the actual thing has two entire decks that, when in flight, are visible through the cockpit windscreen. Nobody except for model companies has done that for the consumer market.
    As for the micro figures? I absolutely adore them, and I frequently played with the galoob ones as a kid. To me they always had an appeal i likened to lego; the focus was having these little characters explore these big and detailed environments, but with less hard right angles and whatnot. Yeah, poseability is limited, but it was something designed mainly to accommodate the vast selection of vehicles. By and large almost every action fleet/micro galaxy figurine can fit in the cockpit of any vehicle or playset seat; this made the environs and vehicles pretty versatile. Say I want to make jodo Kast and his ship, the foxcatch. You can take an imperial shuttle and a boba Fett micro and have a decent approximation without breaking the bank like you would with lego. I’d say the figurines actually add so much value to the item to me as a collector and toy fan that my interest would drop off in a heartbeat if they took them out; it’s why I stopped buying Star Wars transformers back in the day; they used to have galoob-style pilot figures, until around 2008.
    I will however concede that you have a point in the display stand and ease of play when it comes to the figurines; part of what made the galoob ones such a joy for me to play with as a kid was the ease with which I had getting figures in and out of ships and diorama bits. Micro galaxy absolutely needs to improve upon that front. Display stands are a must for these too, and I hope that eventually we can get ones packed in for the larger vehicles that would allow for dynamic in-flight display. You’re right on the landing gear as well; it needs improvement. Galoob did ghd Xwing’s landing gear way better than Jaz, and I found some of jaz’s other landing gear designs wanting too(razor crest for example).
    All in all I think part of the reason you’re not super into them might be that these cater to a rather unique mindset; one with a greater focus on the environments the characters inhabit than the individual characters themselves, without sacrificing those characters entirely. Lego accommodates to this mindset too; though it has its limitations(lots of chunky hard angles). This line accommodates to a lot of that appeal well; however they could benefit from having buildings, landing pads, and other structures for these figures and ships to inhabit.
    If you read all this, thank you and have a good day

But they all got sold off with all the other stars wars stuf back in the early half of the 2010s between when Diseaseney bought star wars and the 2015 movie. Antway. On a different related note It's a shame that gallob never did much Indiana jones micro action stuff in this scale would of been a cool range. So I had to build my own accurate 1/72 scale BV-38 Flying wing "with motorised spinning propellers" from Raiders and semi accurate 1/64th scale Tank from Last crusade. Which were theme park exclusives. I wonder if Jazwares will produce there own renditions from Indiana Jones aswell?

I cannot recall who made them. I do know the line was pretty extensive. I had the Falcon, an X-Wing, a Tie Fighter, and a Star Destroyer. The scale was all over the place, but I didn’t care. They were fun to play with and had some nice detail for the time.
    Later I had the micro collection X-Wing, and Tie Fighter, and loved them for their detail a playability. The full size vehicles were nice, but I simply didn’t have room for them. I personally preferred smaller figures like army men and lego minifigures, but I think that comes down to fundamentally different styles of play. My play style focused far more on building and composing scenes that represented locations I was imagining, rather than dynamically moving figures around as part of a specific scenario. The smaller figures allowed me to depict larger-scale scenes in the same amount of space (for example, a full city rather than just one building). With the larger, standard-sized figures, there was always an upper limit to the scale of what I could depict.

    I don’t know Michael, I think the inclusion of figures is really awesome. Although I agree with the frustrations about seating them correctly or the constant rattling, the inclusion of figures is a nice option to have when playing with these. You can look inside the cockpits and see a little Luke Skywalker or Han Solo flying, which is pretty cool in my opinion. Otherwise, you could just buy smaller scale models if you really don’t care about the figures; but i really think that’s the whole point about Jazwares Micro Squadrons. The figures are the pièce of résistance.

      I agree too. I always felt the 3.75" vehicles were compromised around the figures themselves (for example the Kenner X-Wing is too short to scale). With these, its the figures that are compromised around, with the vehicles receiving more top billing. I am more into ships than figures though.

    I really like this line. There is a great variety of vehicles and I'm excited to see what else is coming.
    However, what bothers me the most about this line is the blind box micro vehicles. It's one thing to get more than one Scout Trooper with Speeder Bike, but what am I going to do with two Ahsoka Tanos?

    Love negative videos... pointing out the cons (opinions vary). And despite the cons/so called cons, these things are awesome. Great box display etc.. And There is purpose for the figures. They're cute, detailed, and add a little character... I wouldnt to expect to play with them like an action figure.

    One feature you totally missing the figures are approximately 1" tall which is super close to 00 scale 1/76 which is the british standard for train LAYOUTS so having these figures and vehicles around a train layout really adds fun addition to the scenery

    I think another disappointing aspect of this line is the concept of "chase" vehicles. I was mostly okay with these being niche repaints of normally available vehicles, but some vehicles like Moff Gideon's Tie and General Grievous' Starfighter (along with store exclusives like the Bad Batch Marauder Shuttle and upcoming AT-AT Walker) are harder to get and can only really be found online at outrageous premiums

    jazzwares say they are working on some of these issues. I believe that they said they would be including stands with more ships in the future. In some interviews it seemed like they where rushing to put out the first wave. you can tell they have worked on quality of the newer waves of ships. for example Poes X-wing now properly locks the wings in position. Id definetly say let them put out another few waves to see how they have progressed since wave one. so far I Really enjoy this Line but I do agree there are some questionable choices in these designs.

The rebels ships all look ok together too. It's the walkers and Sandcrawler that let Action Fleet down. I see Jazwares has a large AT-AT coming soon. I'm up for that!

    Objective as always. I can count on Michael to not be a shill and just gush over these toys. What’s the point of the falcons interior if the figures can’t sit? And no Luke with the blastsheild helmet and remote? No droids? It took a lot to not start buying these when then came out. I remembered my disappointment with the action fleet, and the scarcity of some vehicles. It has been the same with these.

But, that being said, I never really got into the micros. I did get the MicroMachine ships, but that was because I was playing the RPG and used them for combat minis. But now that the
    Star Wars: X-Wing Miniatures Game is out, well, I don't need a substitute.
    I'm just rambling. Great video as always.

    I actually played with Micro Machine and Action Fleet stuff when I was a kid in the late 90's, early 00's. It was great because it allowed stuff like Godzilla, Gundam, Zoids, Pokemon and Digimon to get involved in play. There was even Micro scaled Digimon playsets at that time, and I really regret having never got one of those as it was one of the only way to get figures of the actual human characters from the television series. There were also Action Fleet Starship Trooper toys, and Micro Machines Aliens and Predator toys. You could literally have Gundams and Digimon fighting hoards of the Bugs in tatooine for example, as absurd as that may seem.
    We 90's kids didn't get much for the 1/18 scale outside of Star Wars, and a GI Joe revival that no other millennial seemed to care about and some other odd lines such as Trend Masters Godzilla line for a movie that was hated by most for decades to come. The micro scale offered a huge opportunity for some wild as hell times, and it was great. Nothing was really properly scaled to each other, so it was more about just using what you had and getting things close enough, it didn't require too much imagination. The Yavin IV base and Death Star play-sets were a center focus of the conflicts between the Earth Federation and the Principality of Zeon on the living room and bedroom floors of my house back in 2001-2002.
    Micro Galaxy Squadron is kind of neat in a nostalgic way, but Jazwares is procucing both it's pseudo Action Fleet and Micro Machine toys in a time when there's not a lot else for them to interact with. It feels like it's just Star Wars and normal Earth cars, maybe some non-transforming Transformers Micro Machines (which seems oxymoronic to me) and I doubt this is as good of an opportunity for play for the current generation of children like it was in the 80's all the way up to the mid '00s and I wonder if that's something they'd even be interested in. It pains me to think that the kind of fun I had as a kid is inaccessible and possibly considered undesirable for all other generations.

    For years and years I loved the regular micro machines product line before hasbro got its filthy ruining hands on it! For years I even 3d modeled hundreds of custom micro machines figures and had them professionally 3d printed with factory grade machines outsourced before home 3d printers were capable and practical. That was years ago! Now skip forward to now, my interests are now with 3 and 3/4 scale and seeing this revitalization of the "action fleet" like product line, I agree with everything you said. The ships look decent, except for their first release manufacturing where they literally squirted their models with a ketchup squirt bottle filled with black colored paint "wash" that looked horrible. The landing gear sucks to me, the wobbly components, and the thing that I hate the MOST - the CHASE VARIANTS! The company decided to make many desirable vehicle offerings into super rare chase variants! Ha! With the way stores already suck at carrying just REGULAR stupid toys, Jazzwares wants to make limited quantities of desirable ships in each wave so we have to drive to 100 stores that have always empty star wars sections in hopes of getting the chase variant? Ha please! I stopped after getting a few of them and I just leave them in the box. Not for me.

    I very much agree on the limitations of the scale, but I think the need for this line is more from TVC’s unwillingness to produce mainline vehicles and sets that are cost effective- in this line, the biggest ticket items are all under $100! It’s really cool to own vehicles that are pretty close to in scale with their figures when I know the TVC and LEGO offerings will often be out of budget (especially for things like the Falcon) and TBS is lucky to get one speeder bike in the line every 3 years

    You are dead on the money, I have always wanted a falcon for display and I jumped on this one because in the box it meets my level of detail requirement but when you pull it out of the box things QUICKLY go down hill, upon handling it the build quality is almost trash, the figures fly everywhere it’s just bad, Walmart is selling them online right now for $23 and I kinda regret paying that TBH, if I paid full price I would most likely return it.
