Great review!! What about passive side pins?? Does your original MTL key have dimples on the edge of the key, do the bump keys?? I have ran into a few mortise cylinders that have them. I believe you are only bumping 4 pins, the interactive outer pin is always the same height, the inner pin can be one of three heights, look at the ring around the interactive pin on the original key, it will be either black, silver or gold with black being the most common here in the U.S. .
Hello Bill The lock that you are trying to bump is 236 Gold You need to use the RG1 Key. Also with rim locks the telescopic pins are smaller in many cases so bumping is harder. Since your key has 2 D pins already in the you can bump it. You hit the key and letting the pins drop and then get the false set..
Thank you! I was gonna cut my own but now that I know they don't work I won't waste my time! I will say once I got lucky using the wrong key in an interactive cylinder and twisted it while pulling out and pushing in and got it to open once or twice. Wasn't able to repeat it though. Curious if you've tried the akk brand multlock picks? I might buy one to test it out of not
nice video bill, ive got the multi classic and garrison 7 pin bump keys from ukbumpkeys and they both work ok, i can usually bump open 70 % of dimple locks that these keys are for no problem
Hello I imagine it was my company that sold you these keys. Firtly can I say what a great video, responsible and clear. You were right about the floating pin, that's the difference - and with the D pin almost always identical, you are effectively bumping just three pins. On a second note. Some of our videos are made my the retailer, but MOST are made by customers. The videos are published on the video section of the forum and we ask if we can use them. I stand by them google raf's lock picking;
The constraint about those interactivve blanks is that in the cylinder its second chamber's external pin isn't suppose to be disturbed. While you're bumping the pins you're simultaneouly thrusting that particular pin upwards. You're better off using a classic blank bitted for bumping and as long as that can be inserted into the plug you're in chance. But the contradiction to my theory is that other videos had bypast their locks with a regular interactive key.
Don't feel too bad Bill. I've got the 6 most used and I can't get any to work but I do have a short attention span.....yeah she was a gorgeous chick with the biggest locks and boy were they hard to pick. Thanx for the warning Bill!
Also - I fully understand your suggesting we manipulated the ocks but I am just a bumper, and although it's hardly evenence here, I wouldn;t even know how to re pin a mul-t--lock. Here's a deal. Send me over acouple of locks with the right keys. I'll do it in one take and show the lock being locked and unlocked and other keys not doing it - which should go someway into proving it's the same pinning - and I'll give it a go. We've sold loads of these and had great feedback. Let's get them working.
This is great news! I have a Mul-T-Lock deadbolt on something, and I'm reassured now :-) BTW, I also have a Medeco deadbolt on something else. Are Medeco and Mul-T-Lock equivalent? Or is one slightly better than the other?
Those bump keys can't possibly be right. The MTL Interactive I gutted last week had a very low cut on pin 4 (second from the rear) -- all of those keys are set way too high on those last two positions. You might consider figuring out which one matches the interactive element on your test lock and try filing it down to a true "999" key and see if that works. The difference between the interactive elements is indeed their height -- they are used, among other things, for key control levels.
Hi, great videos as always. Can you please advise me on the best euro profile cylinder lock I can purchase for my main door for my home. I'm trying to improve the security of my property. I understand there is an issue with "snapping and bumping, picking and this somewhat frightens me. Please advise. Thank you. Keep up the good work. Huge fan of your videos.
I try these bump key too but I don't see how it would work .I can get pass the outer pin but not the inner pin. if you remove the inner bottom and top pin it would work.
I doubt that "interactive" element on those keys can even work. There is a notch in the core that pushes the element up , through the key. So it comes higher than the key blade. If you would take a cylinder appart and fit this key , I'm pretty sure that element would would be nowhere near where it has to be. In fact , I would think another cut on this position would work better , as the interactive element moves a conventional pin , albeit a shorter one.
I've followed your reports with great interest Bill and I have just watched one on the Mul-t-Lock Interactive 3 piece Bump Key set sold by UKbumpkeys.com and the guy on there appears to have absolutely NO trouble opening the lock. Perhaps you (or others) could give it a watch and tell us what YOU think by way of an update?
+bosnianbill with the color black, gold or silver they make reference to the cilinder middle locking part like in this ones they are black.. mpc.mult.production.assaabloy.com/fileexplorer/Fetchfile.aspx?id=1782&ft=.jpg&mh=420&mw=1020 so can you try using them on one of this ??
Send me some locks, I'll see if I can do them. Bumping can be tricky, but dimple locks take a bit of extra application. you can get me at chris and then the url of my company.
How long did you want? As long as the keys weren't damaged, we'd have discussed something. We had a great time with these keys, we wouldn't have stocked them. Google raf's lock picking world, I wouldn't use the one click back, i would use a variety of dampeners, different widths and density. Email me. chris at the business name.
I offered to do this, no one took me up. Send me the lock with the key, I'll open it with the key, then bump it, them use the key again - then you'll know it's pinned OK. Inbox me. Because you can't do it - doesn't mean the tool is at fault, there's another option.

Kokomolock, I miss you and your videos! Just sayin'
It's crazy that something so expensive could be total junk but there you have it. Thanks for the heads up brother, much obliged
Thanks Bill,I have been looking at bumb keys for dimples so I will not bother now, billbo.
That is my conclusion, although the manufacturer of these keys wants you to believe differently...
Thanks for the great advice Bill.
Hello Bill
The lock that you are trying to bump is 236 Gold
You need to use the RG1 Key.

Thanks Bill. Saved me some money. I will procede to practice picking these locks!

Another great honest review Bill, I will have to also PM you at some point regarding the MTL bump key and others made ;o)

Please do a review on the Interactive +, that would be so cool.

Hey Mr.Bill did you try taping or gluing the "bump key" to a chain saw or demo saw? They just might work that way!
This is great news! I have a Mul-T-Lock deadbolt on something, and I'm reassured now :-)
BTW, I also have a Medeco deadbolt on something else. Are Medeco and Mul-T-Lock equivalent? Or is one slightly better than the other?
Have you tried using dampers like goucheroucher suggested?
Bill, surely if they are not fit for the purpose as sold you can return them.
Thanks a lot.
Again, I delete these items from my X'mas shopping list.
It's the same believing the politicians here in the UK too! :)

Where can I find those donut O rings? I can't seem to find them...is there a specific name I should search for?
+bosnianbill Thank you Sir...Love your Videos!
Thanks for this Bill ""!!!'
I seen it bumped without pulling the key out at all, he put the key in & bumped it til a false set then kept pounding til it opened

Send me a lock with the keys, I'll open it to show it;s your pinning and then bump it. ISEO R6 too.
“Pounds?” I thought he was in the US…
you cant get your money back for any of them ???
Send me some locks, I'll see if I can do them. Bumping can be tricky, but dimple locks take a bit of extra application. you can get me at chris and then the url of my company.
Why do I have a "Lock Lab" logo floating in my videos now?
