    When tightening, take the strain by hold the fitting as you tighten the nut

    Nylog is wonderful stuff. We use it on all flared connections. I haven't tried putting it on top of the flare where the nut slide down over. We have been using a drop of vacuum oil up to this point to reduce friction between the nut and the flare. Maybe we'll try Nylog there tomorrow. Thank you for sharing.

    Thanks this is the info I wanted..everywhere I read it tells me to not exceed 100 ish ft lbs but nobody ever shows just how many ugga duggas are required

      You need 2 for every line. So 4 total on a mini split installation. Look at the different sizes on the description. If you are not 100% sure on the size, by the "assorted kit".

    Can this be used to repair a flared connection? I had a flare which would hold a vacuum, but once I released the refrigerant it leaked out. I'm sure the best option would be to cut and reflare the tube then use nylog, but I'm trying to save some money only if it isn't necessary

      Yes you can! But also make sure your flared connections remain straight, after connecting them. A slight shift sideways while connecting can affect it too. Your last resort will be to get a flare kit amzn.to/3QoAqUf and re flare it.

    I would suggest only putting it on the brass fittings, not the copper pipe. But, if you put it on the pipe, to use it only on the back side, not the inside. While it is thickened POE oil, you don't want to risk it going into the refrigerant circuit.

      @cowlumbus as someone who works in hvac, systems get messed up all the time by products that claim to not contaminate the refrigerant

    I installed a mini-split with the line already filled with refrigerant. I believe there is a leak. If I un-screw those compressor side connections to add nylog, is that refrigerant all going to come out?

    • @SaveGreenHere
      @SaveGreenHere  2 роки тому +1

      Yes it will. You need to pump down the refrigerant into the compressor first.

      I think he is talking about the nitrogen and air for shipping on the inside unit?

    What is wrong with getting a black one? It's a high viscosity compressor oil that's been sitting in it's sealed plastic bottle for afew years, what can be wrong? It's not like oil looses its effectiveness over time in its sealed bottle...

      If it's been sitting in a bottle for years, and you prefer not to spend a few bucks, and you are fine with assuming any and all possible risks, go ahead and use it.
