      Well done on your longest 13K run. That's a big achievement. I remember training for my first Half Marathon last year and running 12K felt like it was the furthest I could ever run. I'm doing a Half Marathon in March too. Which one are you training for? Thank you for watching 😊 All the best of luck with your training!

      Well done for deciding to run a Half Marathon. I kind of wish I ran a few more HM distances before committing to a full Marathon but I just needed to throw myself into the challenge or it'll just drag on forever, and probably never do it. Thank you for watching and all the best of luck with your training. Which Half are you running as your first?

    Great job Yeunny! Windmakes any run that much harder. Don't be afraid of that hill, in fact, you should incorporate it into every run you do. Including doing speed work up it. It is hard but will make your overall speed and endurance so much better! Keep pushing and enjoy the ride!

    • @YuennyLam
      @YuennyLam  5 місяців тому

      It is so hard running against the wind! And you're right - I need to run up the hill with speed. I do tend to include some speedy hill runs in my training, but usually shorter sessions. I need to work harder to get better and fitter 💪 Still feel like I have such a long way to go. Thanks for the encouragement though. Really appreciate it 😊

    Well done on completing your longest run! It would be a good if you could do your long runs with a group or with company. Doing the distance is hard enough, but Its a long time to be running solo. Good luck on your 26k! Only 9 weeks to go😧😧

      Thank you. I don't know anyone else who runs and it's hard for me to join a club, having to be there for certain times and day. The only way I can fit in all the training is to be able to do it as and when it works around other things in my life. Maybe one day I'll find a running buddy 😊 Not long at all now 😬

    Great job. I'm currently training for my first marathon which is London in April, so this is very relatable. I have settled on nutrition about every 30 mins or so. Seems to work for me during the run, but also I find plenty of nutrition speeds up post long run recovery. I had the same question about hydration packs for London, but I have been told it's ok. If in doubt contact the organizers directly. In terms of chaffing, I have found squirrel's nut butter is excellent, but female friends often use kt tape too. I can't comment personally, but they say its a game changer. Keep going, and enjoy the journey. 👍

    • @YuennyLam
      @YuennyLam  5 місяців тому

      That's exciting! I really wanted London to be my first Marathon but I didn't get a place. I'm really happy for you to be running London 😊 I find fueling every 30mins works for me too. For some reason the alerts on my watch have stopped working, as well as some other features, but I try to keep an eye on the time to make sure I take on gels and jelly babies accordingly. I never thought that fueling properly can help speed up recovery. Thanks for getting me thinking about that 😁 How are you planning to carry your fuel? Are you settling on hydration vest? I've been using Body Glide to prevent chafing, but seems like I'm not putting them quite in the right places yet. Thanks for the suggestions though. Really appreciate any help/advice/info. All the best of luck with your training!

    Well done Yuenny, I’m up to 10k distance training now , I could never manage a 5k at one time , tbh I couldn’t manage a mile one time , your showing us it can be done , I doubt I’ll go over 10k but happy achieving that now ,keep the videos coming ,they keep me motivated to run 👍🏼

    • @YuennyLam
      @YuennyLam  5 місяців тому +1

      I was the same. I never thought I could run a 5K and then 10K distance became my goal. Reached 10K and thought I couldn't ever run any further than that, so challenged myself to run a Half Marathon. It certainly gets harder the further you go, but definitely achievable if you put your mind to it. Do you think you'll run a Half Marathon one day? Thank you for watching and the lovely comment. I want to show people that it is possible to run further and longer, despite being a really slow runner and getting older. Although I've not run a Marathon yet, I believe I can 💪

      @@g4rymw110 I didn't think I could run further but then running a lot of 10Ks felt like I became quite comfortable with that distance, and I'm sure you will too. Pretty much the whole of last year I only ran 10K races and threw in one Half Marathon, so with consistently running the 10K distance you will no doubt be getting stronger and more comfortable, just like I did. I think you should enjoy the 10Ks for now. You'll know when the time is right to challenge and push yourself more. If I can run further, you definitely can 😊

      I enjoy a bit more cushion too. The ASICS Novablast 2 and 3 are really comfortable for me but not sure they're quite marathon shoes, so doing some research. I've heard the Pro 3s are good but they seem to have a narrower toe box than the Speed 3s. I need a bit more space around my toes so they don't get so squished.

    Ugh finding the right shoes is a total nightmare isn't it! I have tried so many - also training for my first road marathon - I've tried the speed 3 as I love them but they didn't work out for me on my loooong runs, they work better for me on the shorter punchier runs. I've decided to go for comfort rather than the faster shoes as I will be on my feet for hours so ned that cushioning underfoot. Best of luck with yours! x

    • @YuennyLam
      @YuennyLam  4 місяці тому +1

      I know, right? I feel like I'm spending a lot of money to work out what shoes do and don't work for me. Once you try them you can return them and selling them as used just means you're constantly losing money. It's very frustrating! I've decided to not run my first Marathon in the Speed 3s, for the same reason as you. They're good during faster workouts but I am a slooooow runner and they don't feel that great during long slow runs. I'm going for the trusted Asics Novablast instead. Which Marathon are you running as your first? Also best of luck to you x

      @@YuennyLam Only three time? But your runs are long distance like the day you ran 10K twice. I'll run when the weather is good. I know other runners run in the rain and snow but that is too much for me. I worry I will lose my stamina if I don't run often. I know we runners are suppose to have recovery days. I'll have mine when the weather is too extreme for me to run. LOL

    • @YuennyLam
      @YuennyLam  5 місяців тому

      I can realistically only fit in three runs a day. With working full-time, videos and other things in my life it's not possible to run more. Maybe four days would be good but I don't think I will enjoy it if I have to push everything else aside, including doing the chores and other commitments. It's sensible to not run when the weather is extreme. Last year I ran in the snow. It was so so slippery I didn't enjoy it but still felt good to have gone out and ran 😁
