    Excellent review, I'm definitely going for 2 Sonos SL to create surround with my Sonos Beam. I don't use Alexa which I have turned off anyway on the Beam.
    UPDATE: I experienced some pop sounds from one of the SL's when in deep bass while watching a movie. This was after activating Trueplay (which you want). Sonos tech recommended I rest them but after doing so it persisted. So I turned the surround bass volume down (still pops but not as bad) and I'm learning how to live with it.

    • @alejofox10
      @alejofox10 3 роки тому

      Hello, I get that you have the possibility of hardwire but to me the beauty of sonos is the simplicity and accuracy of its wireless connection. Unless you have a crapy wifi connection I don’t see how hardwire can improve considering all sonos speakers come with their own amp build in.

      I was fortunate that I had geeked out years ago with a wired networking system and had run cable all over the place except the master suite and that's were the speakers that had the most noticeable issues.
      A pair of wall mount speaker stands and a whole bunch of luck and swearing, I manages to run power and network cable to both speaker.
      Looks real nice and sounds even better mounted.

    I'm going to pair either 2 Sonos Ones or 2 Sonos One SLs to my Sonos Beam in the same room. Is there any advantage to the One vs. the One SL in this setup? Is it true that the voice functions on the One will be disabled anyway in this setup?

    • @smarthomesounds
      @smarthomesounds  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Jeff, the One and One SL are exactly the same speaker except for the fact that the One SL does not have any microphones built in, so no voice control. If you are looking to add them as rears to your Beam, then save yourself the money and go for 2 x One SL as voice control is built in to the Beam. The only reason you may wish to consider going for Ones instead is if you want to future proof yourself if you wanted to move one of the Ones to another room and still benefit from voice control. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

    The thing that keeps from doing a Playbar with Sonos One is does not support Dolby Atmos. I don’t own Sonos yet. I’m wanting to get a Home Theater set up in my living room. At least a 5.1.2 configuration.

    • @smarthomesounds
      @smarthomesounds  4 роки тому +3

      Hi Charles. Currently, Dolby Digital is still the most widely supported audio codec so Sonos feel that it's not yet the right time to start supporting Atmos just yet. We may well see this in the future if there is enough of a demand and enough support for this codec but as it stands, not currently. Also to achieve a true Dolby Atmos set up, you'd need to incorporate ceiling speakers which is a more complex set up. Hope this helps!

    • @shockjock35
      @shockjock35 4 роки тому +1

      I am intrigued with the functionality of the Sonos. As you know Home Theater setups can get expensive. I currently have an LG Soundbar with a Bluetooth Subwoofer. 3.1. Swapping out for the Playbar and the Sonos Sub and a couple of Play 1,SL or possibly Play 5 would be the easiest way. For Surround Sound, can I add the Sonos Amp with a couple of Sonance In Ceiling to complete the 5.1 setup.

    • @smarthomesounds
      @smarthomesounds  4 роки тому +1

      @@shockjock35 That sounds like a great upgrade. Yes, absolutely you can add the Amp and a couple of in-ceiling speakers for a full 5.1 set up, the same as having Sonos One SL as rears. Hi Stephen, we haven't had a chance to test the Symfonisk speakers properly however we did have a demo in Ikea and were very impressed. We will certainly be reviewing them in the coming months and I do agree that it is a cost effective way of adding rears to the Beam. I would say though its not going to work for everyone having 2 lamps for surrounds. Surrounds need to be positioned either side of the sofa and currently there are no wall mounting or floor standing options for the lamps, they need to find surfaces. Thanks for watching!

The only physical difference is you won't be able to take advantage of TruePlay tuning but if you have a family member or friend who has an Apple device, you can borrow it off them to perform the tuning as it only needs to be done once. Everything else runs exactly the same as iOS. I hope that helps!

      Hi there, the SL is a worthy upgrade to the Play:1 as it supports 2 voice assistants, AirPlay 2 and features the latest hardware which means it can support more software updates later on down the line.
