Thanks! After watching 20 videos where everyone just recommends to replace the pressure switch, the genius in this video recommends to just tap on it a bit to see if you can get it to reset if it's stuck open or closed. And it worked!
My heat wouldn’t come on and after searching my furnace and model number, I had found how to read the code. Next I searched the code on UA-cam and found this video. I did exactly what the tech said to try and it worked!!!!! Many Thanks to you!!!!! So much appreciated!!!!!
Same here but I had the grey crap in it that he explained. I made the fix sound so complicated to my wife and now I look like a hero to and saved thousands. Lol. The things we do to keep the wifey happy.
Man, this just saved me a whole ton of time and money. Although my switch is different, I disconnected the line going to it and found some moisture there. After carefully drying it out and reconnecting, the system fired right up. Like and subscribed. Cheers!
This video helped me greatly. Thank you SO much. Things were getting mightly chilly in the house and your support here helped us avoid a service call and a second night of cold.
Thank you for this info! I had this issue and discovered a blockage of that ashy residue in the nipple in my draft motor housing. Saved a service call!
I just got my York to fire up after sucking on the hoses to the switches. Got them to click and now it works! I'll order new pressure switches. 2 days before Christmas as usual.
Sharing what I found, the exhaust pipe was constricted with ice due to the humidifier and it being -11 deg F last night. After checking all in the video last thing mentioned was the exhaust pipe. Sure enough there was ice on the outside port. I ran a hair dryer from the furnace for 30 minutes and it cleared it right up. HEAT!!!
Thanks so much I'm working now on a two stage Goodman and when it's going in to second stage it comes up pressure switch stuck closed, interesting that the unit stays running after a while it shuts off, after watching your video I'm going to inspect the tube and I'm going to try to change the pressure switch. Thanks so much, (I like your video you don't drag around like other people you get right to the point good job)
Hi this is exactly what I experience right now. When i turn the furnace off, it works the first cycle fine, but once the heat drops again, it never fires up giving "switch stuck closed error. I am wondering, did you manage to get it resolved? What was the problem? I really appreciate your response.
Thanks for this video! Popped a small screwdriver into the furnace end of the rubber hosing and the furnace works again. Now I can sleep without having every blanket on top of me.
Went through a ton of videos. Error 43 - Bryant Evolution - turrned off for 2 minutes at least, tapped the switch, pulled the tubes and stuck the Allen wrench in, and heat again. Thank you.
Thanks for the advice! Tapped the pressure switch a few times and she's running again blowing warm air. Think I will order a new pressure switch just in case though!
Thank you, just fixed the furnace by reconnecting the tube to the switch. i guess it reset the pressure to start it right up. Thank you for saving time, money and feeling stupid 😂
Thank you, your clear and concise, my issue is the inducer won't even start the inducer motor is brand new fasco. Clearing the failt codes and restarting it calls for heat then imediately goes to the 3 flash error. Sorry it's a Trane XV90.
I have a single stage Day and Night furnace high efficiency furnace that has been giving me fits for years with the pressure switch "did not close or reopened" fault. Happens every year "winter" without fail. I've checked the tubes and hoses running to the switch itself and they are clean. I've used a vacuum to clean out the condensate trap. The exhaust is 2 inches and runs roughly 33ft out the side of the house at an upward slope. Per the instructions manual the max run of 2 inch pipe is 56ft. I've cleaned out the exhaust pipe with a dryer vent cleaner, no obstructions. The pressure switch has been replaced. Conbustion air supply is feed from a unfinished basement, so should be adequate. The inducer runs fine and I don't see any issues with it. The switch is reopening. The furnace runs for several minutes and then shuts down. This cycle is repeated three times before shutting down one last time and giving me the thee blinks code. Not sure what else to do at this point.
Did you ever get it fixed or figured out? This is called "short cycling" I believe, and the same problem I'm having - furnace will only run for about 6-8 minutes at a time.
Do a continuity Test on the pressure switch or Ohms test. If the switch is closed you would read zero on the meter and if it is open you would get an OL ( over limit, open line or infinity ) reading.
Inducer motor kept running after blower shut off. I knew it was the pressure switch, but did not know about the hose maybe being plugged. I took hose off, and rodded PS and supply. Thank you.
Same problem with mine , Lennox g16, every time the cycle shuts off the inducer motor keeps on running so I am planning to change the pressure switch and see if this will solve the problem.
could you draw a diagram on what's happening the the switch? what's closing? and is the thing that's closing inside the black thing or inside the tube? and which way is the air blowing?
I wish I knew what fixed mine. It was blinking 3 lights for open. I checked the drain, found a bit of water in a larger line from the exchanger to the exhaust had a bit of water in it, but not much. Took the switches off of the bracket, removed and blew through the tubes, all good. Nothing to be seen in the ports on the switch. Put it back together, same thing. Turned the thermostat up to 25, cycled it once, same thing. I had given up and pressed the door button one last time to confirm my failure and it worked! Not knowing what fixed it is almost worse than it being still broken.
Thank you, liked and subscribed! One question though, can a dirty furnace filter cause a pressure switch malfunction indication on the circuit board? I really appreciate you taking the time to make these helpful videos!
I have a Miller furnace, and it has two small gray rubber hoses going to a vent pipe. I took em off and blew on em, tried tapping on it and still nothing. I'm getting a pressure switch stuck open code on mine it's two beeps. I have yet to see a furnace like mine being diagnosed. My home is 15 years old, so the furnace itself is kind of old but isn't.
Thank you, very helpful video. I have a YORK furnace. the switch has 3 wires. 2 orange and 1 red. the manufacturer upgraded that switch. but he new switch has 2 connectors. what do I do?
I have a york diamond 80 furnace, I replaced the igniter the filter and still doesn't work it's blowing cold but the it's not igniting no fire Please help...does the thermostat have anything to do with it Thank you
I am getting 2.4v for the inducer motor. Means card is not giving out 120v. During winter we niticed that blower motor was running but we were not getting heat. Eventullay blower motor stopped working. I am trying to get this running. I did buy a new bord, inducer motor did not turned on. Input will be apporeciated.
Just an update from Lennox. They don't warranty if you want to be proactive. If you DIY your pressure switch and then phone the company for warranty they will not warranty the switch. So let your house freeze, pipes burst, etc. then phone the company even though you know that there is a problem.
I might be wrong, usually if there are 2 pressure switches, that means that the furnace is a 2 stage furnace. Also, I disconnected the house from wherever it leads to and I gently sucked and blew on it. You can hear a faint click.
Thank you very much for your information. My inducer won't shut off, it keeps running all the time and because of that the system it's not working so what should I do? if I turn off manually the inducer it will restart the system but after the house reach the thermostat temperature it shut down the furnace and the blower and it won't resume anymore until I will do it manually again. Any ideas?
Pisses me off that most places only sell to licensed hvac guys. It's a scam. Couple years ago my inducer motor fan sheared off, local guys wanted 900+ to replace whole motor. I just needed a $30 fan. Temps were -10 and it was Christmas so ordering online wasn't a great option due to the wait. I finally found a company that wrote me an invoice but charged me $90 just to pick up from local supply house. I fixed it myself but the whole licensing racket is a scam.
What does it mean if the fan runs after turning the unit off but not while the unit is on, set to Heat. Tried taping and cleaning but still 3 blinks red
Hi Bro, can i ask question to you, what is the ideal setting pressure for the Low Pressure switch and High Pressure switch to be set in HVAC system for R22. Thanks for your response.
If you took your own advise you would find that by by-passing a pressure switch, even if you do it 'correctly' you'd find that you would only get 1 cycle of the furnace. The circuit board designers do that so people like you don't kill yourselves or worse, kill your customers. Don't give advise if you don't know what you are talking about.
Thanks! After watching 20 videos where everyone just recommends to replace the pressure switch, the genius in this video recommends to just tap on it a bit to see if you can get it to reset if it's stuck open or closed. And it worked!

Thank you for this video. This was happening to my furnace. I tapped on the switch and it started right up. Now I’m a hero to my wife.
Same here but I had the grey crap in it that he explained. I made the fix sound so complicated to my wife and now I look like a hero to and saved thousands. Lol. The things we do to keep the wifey happy.
You just saved me and my family $150 and a cold night. Thank you!!
So easy when explained clearly. Little tap after checking tubes. Started right up. Great video. Thanks.
Thank you for your video. I tapped on the pressure switch, and the heat came pouring out. That kept a good amount of money from leaving my wallet!!! 🎉
Man, this just saved me a whole ton of time and money. Although my switch is different, I disconnected the line going to it and found some moisture there. After carefully drying it out and reconnecting, the system fired right up. Like and subscribed. Cheers!

Mine dripping water 💧?
Thank you for this info! I had this issue and discovered a blockage of that ashy residue in the nipple in my draft motor housing. Saved a service call!
Good tip about not blowing or pulling vacuum lines so not to damage the switch! 👍
Thank you! I whacked the switch with a spoon and it works now! You saved me hundreds of dollars!
I just got my York to fire up after sucking on the hoses to the switches. Got them to click and now it works! I'll order new pressure switches. 2 days before Christmas as usual.
Thank you kind man! 😂 I seriously doubted just tapping it would work but here I am in my warm house just by tapping on the pressure switch! 🤙🏼
I did exactly what you said and stuck a small allan wrench in the hole. Fired right up! Thanks!!
Thank you! Based on this video, I checked the exhaust pipe and found a dead bird blocking it. Very helpful!
THANK YOU!!!! I’d looked up everything I could think of and then came across this and it worked immediately!!!! Thank you so much!!!
Thank you so much! It was a buildup of water in my hose leading to/from the switch. Just drained it and restarted the system. Good as new!
Tapped it with my finger, problem solved. Thanks so much for posting these helpful videos.
Thank you so much!!! I read your comment and tried tapping and it worked!!

Tapped Valve like Chris Cannizzaro said and it the valve released and it works!!! great vid thanks big man

Thank you!! This helped me get my furnace up and going while I wait for someone to come give it a once over, and that can’t happen for a week or so.
Thanks for this video! Popped a small screwdriver into the furnace end of the rubber hosing and the furnace works again. Now I can sleep without having every blanket on top of me.
Thank you for your video, it helped me to figureout. My furnace is working now. Drinage was durty.
Thank you for your time and expertise you took explaining this to us. May God bless you in the upcoming new year! Dr. G 🤠
Excellent instructions. My house is now heating up again.
Brother…Christmas morning and you got me out of a jam
Tapped on the switch. Now it works. lol.
Thank you.
Very helpful, definitely saved me time and money
Thank you, just fixed the furnace by reconnecting the tube to the switch. i guess it reset the pressure to start it right up. Thank you for saving time, money and feeling stupid 😂
It was the tap for me. THANK YOU!!!!
Would you recommend a follow up service to replace the switch after the fact? Your tip helped me to have a warm house!! Much appreciated.
Excellent video, explanation, and detail. Thank you for posting this
Many thanks for posting this; you really made a difference and helped me out.
you also should check if inducer is producing enough pressure for that pressure switch to close sometimes is a low rpm inducer.
Thank you, your clear and concise, my issue is the inducer won't even start the inducer motor is brand new fasco. Clearing the failt codes and restarting it calls for heat then imediately goes to the 3 flash error. Sorry it's a Trane XV90.
The tap worked . God bless you 😂
Thanks, great video. I just used this to restore heat to our home. I appreciate the help!
Thanks so much ! Had a walnut stuck in the vent pipe so therefore it couldn’t draft and as soon as I pulled it out it started working !

@@GarenP Yes, we got it figured out. The furnace only had a 2“ exhaust. I replaced it with a 3". Haven't had any issues since.
Found a spider in the vent tube. Thanks for the video
Poor spider!
Very informative. I am sure this has been helpful to many others as well.
Thanks, tapping the pressure switch worked.

Hell yeah thanks bro fixed it at 6 in the morning in Amarillo tx in a blizzard 🥶 outside
Inducer motor kept running after blower shut off. I knew it was the pressure switch, but did not know about the hose maybe being plugged. I took hose off, and rodded PS and supply. Thank you.

Thank you so much for sharing I just fixed my furnace thanks to you
Thank you! I fixed my system thanks to you! Very helpful!
Thank you for the video clip. It really helped me.
This video helped......also found a bird behind my motor once i tapped the pressure switch and it kicked on..lmao

I was wondering the same!
You save me my friend. Thanks
Thanks so much, this was really helpful and worked for me!!!
Worked, thank you!
Thx for info! The funny background music sounds like a Benny Hill skit!

Yup. I have been waiting 2 weeks for my part. Meanwhile I can get a $500 power bill since I need heat somehow. Those switches are low grade dog shit.
I might be wrong, usually if there are 2 pressure switches, that means that the furnace is a 2 stage furnace. Also, I disconnected the house from wherever it leads to and I gently sucked and blew on it. You can hear a faint click.

Question I checked the rubber line is clear and replaced the pressure switch still blinking 2 code any suggestions thanks
Thank you! Very nice explanation and fixed my problem.

HVAC mafia. Same thing happened to me. I laughed in his face and told home I will buy parts online. Will never call that business for anything.
Thanks for info... narrowed it down to the little wires on circuit board bad connection.
Thank you sir truly appreciate it !!!
My lennox was throwing pressure codes, i replaced it but am still having the same issue. It starts and runs, then randomly will shut down
Interesting. Could’ve done without the music.
What does it mean if the fan runs after turning the unit off but not while the unit is on, set to Heat. Tried taping and cleaning but still 3 blinks red
I replaced my pressure switch and hose. Still have 3 flashing LED. Switch was 25 hose was 9.
Hi Bro, can i ask question to you, what is the ideal setting pressure for the Low Pressure switch and High Pressure switch to be set in HVAC system for R22. Thanks for your response.
All I did was pinch the black plastic air pressure tube and it started working again....dumbfounded as to why.
At what pressure is the pressure switch closed??
Thank you sir!
I blew out the dust out of my furnace with an air compressor and now my pressure switch is staying open and furnace won't run
What do these cost
Worked, thanks
Thank you!!!!!
Thanks
What about low pressure lockout
Show a draft gauge
Shit worked!!!!! THANKS
I got my pressure switch on Amazon for $18 when they wanted $40 Brand New
Fuck it, bypass that shit and check the pressure every three months.
