I think one of the biggest reasons aside from comedy, why many people watched Carson is because he's kinda strange and goofy, yet a part of the anxiety and depression that many of us feel, is right at home with ourselves. depending on your age, some people have decades worth of people not liking them, not knowing they exist for other people, living in isolation before a virus made us do so. Watching someone like carson going outside of the comfort zone, meeting someone who seemingly really enjoys being around them, is an incredible breath of fresh air to those who live in an introverted lifestyle or even simply just have some awkwardness to work through, even as a viewer. it let's us see any additional potential in all of us, even if it's subtle. throwing some memes in there is icing on the cake.
but then life has to continue being life, and before we know it, it's back to the cycle of life is shit and then you die mentality. people will continue to be shitty, and that isn't going to change. all you can do is try and not be shitty yourself.
