Millennium Force X and Dragster will always be my favorite child hood memories. They made my child hood fun. Millennium Force was my first tall coaster as I skipped a hyper and blew my mind then Dragster and X come out in 2002-2003 I begged my parents to take me to Magic Mountain in 2005 and I was able to get X in 2005 and finally had the balls to do Dragster in 2006. Those 3 will always be my most iconic coasters.
Absolutely agree. I'm more about the ride experience than record breaking stats. FYI, hybrid coasters have always existed. RMC is just recently putting them on the map.
@@XscreamThrills They were always considered hybrids, RMC just popularized the style. For instance, white lightning at fun spot is a hybrid, but most people just considered it a wooden coaster with steel track.
XscreamThrills I think it should be an important record if that’s what the coaster is designed for, like trying to knock the smiler for not having diamondback level airtime, I chose these too because even tho they have very different specialties I think they are similar in entertainment value
Anything with more than steel Vengeance would mean it would have far too much of a focus on airtime, Vengeance is that upper limit where there is a ridiculous focus on airtime but not one that completely throws off the balance of a good ride
Hybrid coasters have been around long before RMC. Arrow and Gravity Group were both doing them, just not on the same scale as RMC. Even the Coney Island Cyclone is technically a hybrid (wood tracks, steel supports)
We always considered them Steel or wood, but then RMC had to spice things up and start calling a roller coaster a "hybrid" coaster so it would stand out.
dang i was hopeing you would mention twisted cyclone at over georgia its the shortest rmc and has not so good stats but OMG the airtime and the inversions make up for it also the drop is amazing.
I think record breakers have the potential to push the limits on what can be done and what can be experienced. I think that TTD is a good example. No one really cares that Kingda Ka took its records because TTD is the better coaster. It isn't necessarily the fact of the record that makes TTD great but the fact that such incredible height requires such incredible speed. And Intamin made that speed happen in a relatively short period of time making the launch on TTD one of the best launches on earth to this day. Furthermore, by building a tower that tall you get a drop that is unlike anything else (other than Kingda Ka.) So pushing the boundaries can result in impressive results depending on what you do with the record. If you just build a coaster that technically breaks a record but doesn't offer anything fundamentally new then the record is just a marketing gimmick (e.g. the TMNT Shellraiser drop angle.) But if you use the space that comes with breaking a record in order to accomplish something truly interesting then records can matter.
I know everyone is saying it including you but imma say it also because why not- 🤷♂️ I don’t think stats matter, I mean take Golaith at SFGAm, it has all the stats to back it up yet it’s kinda a weak and short ride! I think the other RMCs look to be better! Also take Zippin Pippin at Bay Beach for example (it’s only 60+ feet tall) yet it packs in an inane ride with relentless airtime! Nice video by the way 👍 love the video idea!
The coaster war ended because parks realized they were spending a lot of money on huge coasters only to get the record taken by a slightly bigger coaster in another park a few years later.
I don’t understand why everyone was so upset about Orion being 287 feet tall and being a giga. Apollo’s Chariot is 170 feet tall and is considered a hyper. Therefore it makes sense for Orion to be a giga.
@@XscreamThrills To be classified as a hyper or a giga, I’ve always known that you need to have a height OR drop between 200-299 feet (300-399 ft for giga). Magnum is the first ever hyper and only meets the height requirement and Phantom’s Revenge only meets the drop requirement. I don’t know why people think Orion is a hyper and not a giga.
Anyone who has ridden Orion knows its a giga the drop feels bigger than Millennium Forces does. The rest of the layout is on lower ground so when it comes over the hill the drop seems endless.
RMC hybrids are steel coasters, the track is all steel, they have steel coaster elements and they feel and run like steel coasters, there is no such thing as a hybrid coaster, its either wood or steel, and some are more in the middle, but its still pretty clear
I know you said NTG created the "Hybrid" category when it opened, but if we're counting that as steel track on wooden supports, wouldn't Arrow Mine Trains count as the first "Hybrids"?
Six flags Great Adventure probably won’t be that far from you in Jackson New Jersey, it has the worlds tallest coaster and it’s the fastest on the continent, also el Toro gives record breaking intensity for airtime in my opinion but nothing official
I know it’s cheesy but pantheon will actually be taking the record of fastest multi-launch coaster in the world from taron. I know it doesn’t matter but it was funny because the original stats didn’t have it breaking the record then they decided I guess to increase the launch just barely and now it will break the record. Funny enough I think they did this because they cancelled the shuttle giga. The shuttle giga would have taken the record in 2021 or 2022 or whenever it would have opened so the marketability of saying you have one record then the next year breaking your own record doesn’t make particular sense exactly to me but that’s just my take.
Records don't matter. Technically G-forces can be counted as stats though, and these do matter to a degree. That being said Orion to me looks (I haven't ridden it, but have seen reviews of it) slightly disappointing, good but wasting it's potential, not because it is shorter in height than Fury (which I have ridden) but because it is shorter in length than Fury. Well, maybe I should just say "shorter in length" in general rather than comparing it. It looks like it needs an additional 2 elements to really feel complete, and maybe replacing that not-a-wave-turn (which I was suspecting would lack airtime and be a bit of a dead-spot) with something which pulls a bit more negative Gs. Like if B&M built an outward-banked camelback or something, that would work better there. It still looks like a solid ride, but it still could've easily been better. It also sounds like Candymonium has a similar problem of needing an additional element or two to feel complete. Maybe we're beginning to enter the age of the shorter roller coaster, although I do suppose they've always been there.
>shortest giga coaster to date Red Force: Am I a joke to you? XD Nah, jk. But for real though Im of the opinion that records don't matter. Who care if the the "tallest, fastest, longest, ect" in the "park, state, country world, ect." I just care if its a good ride, I honestly couldn't careless about records.
Are we still on the "Orion isn't a giga" debate? Look up the definition: Height or drop of 300 ft. If you think that Orion is not a giga.. Apollo's Chariot at BGW is not a hyper, and Jackrabbit at Kennywood is about 25 ft. You drop 300 feet on Orion, enjoy the drop that is just inches shorter than Millennium Force. The debate is pointless. And I'm waiting for that 500 ft. record breaker ;-)
Hers's the short version or what I meant to say yesterday: I don't mean to be sarcastic; stats aren't everything but they aren't necessarily unimportant. But yeah, Steel Vengeance gives Millennium Force a run for its money, in most people's opinion by beating it in overall quality. But in doing so it broke many records of its own. So to to say "stats don't matter" as a bold full stop answer is just a little flakey, no?
ORION IS NOT A GIGA. If we are basing things off drop now then Magnum XL200 is NOT the worlds first hyper (195 foot drop), which it always has been universally agreed as the first hyper b/c of its 200 foot height. Orion is a beefed up hyper! No cap!
I realize that for anyone sitting behind a computer and never riding coasters but wanting to: stats take on more meaning than they ought to. I also realize that when anyone goes out and rides any coaster themselves, they're surprised at what they discover they like and or dislike. The only way to discover that is to ride these roller coasters oneself. Whilst I'd agree that stats aren't as important as you once thought they were: you're now overcompensating by telling us that "Stats don't matter". I get that stats aren't as important to you now as you used to think they were, but that doesn't mean that "stats don't matter". How many stats did Steel Vengeance win? None at all? What if RMC proposed a T rex roller coaster with a one foot drop and no launches: would you be happy with that? IF so: I'll sell you the Brooklyn Bridge and a RMC T rex coaster coaster with no launches and a 1' drop for only $1,000,000,000. After all: Stats don't matter. ;)
Thanks for using my footage! 🙌
You're welcome! Thanks for taking great video 👍

For non RMC’s, Monster @Adventureland and Maverick are the best two examples I could think of for phenomenal rides without the stats.
Great examples! 👍
Absolutely agree. I'm more about the ride experience than record breaking stats. FYI, hybrid coasters have always existed. RMC is just recently putting them on the map.
Are you referring to a mine train coaster
No, I mean all the GCI/GG hybrid woodies out there, Gemini at cedar point, etc.
They are technically now a hybrid, but they never were considered that until RMC
@@XscreamThrills They were always considered hybrids, RMC just popularized the style. For instance, white lightning at fun spot is a hybrid, but most people just considered it a wooden coaster with steel track.
No one called them a hybrid before rmc. A wooden coaster with steel supports has and is still considered a wooden coaster
Records Don't Matter.
Having A Good Ride No Matter How Old , New , Rough Or Smooth Is What Really Matters.
The only records that matter are “most airtime”, “most sustained positive gs”, and “most inversions.”
Not sure if I agree on inversions, but definitely airtime 👍
XscreamThrills I think it should be an important record if that’s what the coaster is designed for, like trying to knock the smiler for not having diamondback level airtime, I chose these too because even tho they have very different specialties I think they are similar in entertainment value

Anything with more than steel Vengeance would mean it would have far too much of a focus on airtime, Vengeance is that upper limit where there is a ridiculous focus on airtime but not one that completely throws off the balance of a good ride
Disagree. The only thing that matters is how fun a coaster is. If airtime is what you want, then that matters for determining fun.

Very solid topic for coasters. Great introduction to it.🥃
What coaster do you think will win the “Florida Coaster War”™️?
Iron Gwazi, Ice Breaker, Tron or Jurassic World Velocicoaster?
Most riders will go to Tron, but I think VelociCoaster will be the best
I doubt we won’t see records being broken

But speed and length might be awhile
