My husband and I have been watching you for at least four years. This moment was so worth the wait. I'm also happy that you openly share your frustrations and the realities of taking on a project like this along with the victories whether they are big or small. We are so happy to be on this journey with you, Rob. The car sounds so sexy and looks so good! Thank you!
Oh my god Rob actually had some sort of outro for once!! So glad to hear this thing scream. Can't wait for more from this incredible machine. Thank you Rob!
Was super cool seeing you out there Rob. Taking the time to talk to all the fans answering their questions even giving advice on their own rotary projects putting them in the right direction. Car sounded amazing in person.
Absolutely unreal, when that engine opens up I get chills. What an amazing machine you’ve built Rob. Congrats on how far it’s come and I can’t wait to see what the future holds as you get this dialed in further.
I didn't expect it but here we are, it's been 3 years since I started following and he almost has a full car legit ready to race. Congratulations for your day on the track! I bring love frome italy! Also thank you Rob for saving me when I was demoralized because of school, I will have finals next week and I hope i will have time to watch every video like I did until now. You inspired me to start a project car and I'm saving money to get some camera gear to film it all! In Italy we have lots of different laws preventing people to have a real modified car and it can get really expensive so it will be a hard journey!
26:05 you showing us all the small details is what makes your channel so great. Not only is it entertaining, but it is a huge learning experience, and it's always a great story to see all the things you struggle with or succeed with, and seeing it pay off. It's super rewarding to see the car getting better and better with every iteration and upgrade you do.
i absolutely love your videos and the way we are able to hear the 4rotor. no music, no bs, just sound of the machine... and i hate the abrupt endings but it makes me laugh every time. thanks for making these videos and i enjoy how you explain everything. keep up your work man, hope to see the car someday. greetings from germany
Fell in love with the rotary back in 1974 riding 160 miles round trip everyday up Iron Mountain leaving Birmingham, and every back road we could take to cut time back and forth each day in his 1974 RX 3 wagon. Nothing like the pop in-between gears as it accelerated up through the gears. Amazing that we survived those days flying around the mountain back roads curves on the old ancient technology skinny tires it rode on. Especially at the speeds that little wagon was capable if you kept her rpms twisted up tight at upper end of the power band. Never a boring ride back during those days, not even if it was a little damp out. Luckily once over the mountain, the traffic that there was, was going opposite direction so wide open in front of us going, are coming back. Once we headed off the beaten path most took, rpms went to the red line, and let the fun begin. Ever seen a rock retaining wall built by the chain gangs of the 1920's and 30's a foot from your side of the car doing 80 around curves built for model T's, and the likes that had a top speed of maybe 35 on the straight aways. I have, and remember it like yesterday, even though I can't remember what I had for lunch yesterday. Yeah nothing like this RX7's that came later on, but then they weren't station wagons either were they. {;^€)~
I've been watching you for 7+ years and it's amazing to see the progress you've made. Congrats on 1M subs! Hope I get the chance to drive with you some day 🤘🏽
Rob I'm digging this build so much, your r&d throughout the build and explanations on how you figured out the solutions to all these problems that arise is my favorite part.
I hope you see this comment rob. I know this isn’t the usual comment you get but I just wanna say thank you. On top of you just being a huge role model and mentor to me in the car world, you’ve also been a wonderful avenue for me to get away from everything bringing me down in life. Any time I’m feeling unbearably anxious or depressed or even ready to end it all, I come to your channel and start binging old videos. Your videos offer me a distraction and a place to come back down to earth and feel okay for a little while longer and I’m so grateful for that. I feel silly leaving a comment in the sea of thousands to someone who has no idea who I am but I just felt like letting you know that you do more than just provide me entertainment, you give me a reason to stay ❤️ so thank you
I feel that this video is a huge middle finger 🤘 to the people who said that this car isn't possible. Here it is. 1 million people believe in it. Huge congrats, from the early begginings, to SEMA and now the track. Can't wait to see this beast unleashed at 100%
The car isnt a car. Just a lot of noise in a straight line. A POS that is not elegible for any form of motorsport. It doesnt handle, doesnt stop and is a death trap!! As for the noise most venues have noise limits. Meaning is needs mufflers.
Just to see this car in the track, only with the two who helped it become a dream answered is amazing. There are people who have less complicated and cutting edge cars who have entire teams out there wrenching. We go to rob and Isaiah and that’s all you guys will ever need aside from valvoline and other sponsors. Let’s this beast loose on the world you guys!!!!!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Let me just say you’re the most genuine and humble UA-camr I have ever met. I went up to get a picture with you on the last day (Sunday) while you were walking back from the pits. You were more then happy too and also engaged in conversation (unlike almost every other UA-camr). You talked to my friend and I as if we weren’t your fans, but as if we were your friends. You went very deep into detail on how the car had improved over the weekend, which was really cool and not something you usually get from famous people. Not to mention your mood, I swear you were smiling and upbeat the whole entire weekend. Really an amazing car to see in person, video does it absolutely zero justice, it is ear piercing, and those pops between shifts rattle your entire chest. Thanks for being such a cool guy!
i mean. this must be one of youtubes coolest cars and also considering its not built by a racing team its just so cool, its not just a regular rx7 with a 4 rotor either.
Rob, I had COVID a few months ago, right when you guys were bringing the FC back to life and I totally binged everything about any of the rotaries. It feels like a fever dream watching the 4 rotor rip (just like when I was sick🤣)
Dude, I'll be honest, when I first saw your videos I thought I'd never see this project completed. You're crazy man. The fact that you have documented the entire process of this build, both good and bad, is inspiring and super cool. Keep it up, I wish you all the best, and I can't wait to see you smoke everyone (looking at you Hoonicorn) 🤘
I feel the same way and it’s been awesome watching someone self taught and passionate pull this off. I’m happy for Rob and team. They deserve all the successes moving forward
OMG Rob did a normal ending!! But really I love how dedicated you are to the whole process, all the ups and downs of designing a race car. And you chose to do it with a 4 rotor and some high tech setups. Seriously impressive. I can't wait to see it all finished, but don't want to miss anything on the way to completion. Keep the vids coming. I love to learn with you through every discovery and mistake.
Rob has to be one of the most enthusiastic, optimistic, Zen tubers ever. He completely accepts the journey for what it is, learns from what works and what doesn't, never cries or complains... Really easy to get behind a good person like him. I had a '79 rx7 automatic trans and was getting ready to do a manual swap but ended up selling it. What a mistake. Much Love.
You already know that the vision you have of your perfect FD is alive. But what's so much better is that you know she's better then you are still... not cocky.. but honest. There are a million of us watching 👀 but that's because of your vision brother. I watch a lot of automotive content and you have from day one always said you want us along for the whole ride.. it's been one and it just keeps getting better. Much love to all of you!!
Hey Rob, Is it just me or was there a water bottle flying around your rear diff at 23:10 . Hahaha Love the build. Been following it since day one. Great Job.
looks like youre hitting the bumpstops, so going with stiffer springs or a "stiffer" exchange ratio on the suspension arms would help with going around corners and not tearing the jack points down. also, its a bit hard to tell but it looks like theres positive camber in the rear which i dont recommend unless youre exclusively drifting.
He also mentioned in recent videos that the suspension is currently "falling rate", meaning the more it compresses, the softer it gets. Not ideal! I imagine that's on the list to revise.
i respect you givin the people a show in the rain man. mad props bro. think i've been subbed for abot 5-7 years now... man... what a blessing dude. keep it up man.
You know Rob, I’ve been following this build for a long time and I’ve gotta say that I think the coolest part about this build and there are many cool parts, but by far the best part about it is seeing how much you absolutely love this car. This isn’t just a car build, this is something you love. It’s a huge credit to your hard work mate. Now it’s “done” haha I can’t wait to see how far you take this incredible work of art and engineering! Keep up the good work mate!
I’ve said many times and I’ll continue to say it; this is one of the most impressive cars I’ve ever seen, and it’s all built (mostly) by two people. Unbelievable build in every sense of the word unbelievable. Beyond impressed by you and Isaiah. I absolutely eat up every second of content with this car wearing a massive grin the entire time.
Also, phosphoric acid on the surface rust will convert it to black oxide coating that's ready for paint or just lightly protect it. It will not eat bare metal unlike muratic acid which will continue to eat until neutralized.
I know there are probably thousands of comments here and my comment will probably go unnoticed but thank you Rob for giving rotary a chance and proving everybody wrong. The 1M subs is just the icing on the cake, but nevertheless its crazy to see your journey with the 4 rotor from being stolen right up till now. I know I might never have the chance to build or drive a rotary like you do, but in the off chance I could I wanna build a 4 rotor just like yours and follow in your footsteps. I don't think there are any 4 rotors yet in Malaysia (could be wrong) but I wanna be the first and enjoy driving an F1 sounding car on the street! Looking forward to your future endeavours and maybe one day I'll get to see you in person somehow, I honestly think you are the most realest UA-camr and have the best car content on UA-cam second to none. 🙏
It’s really cool to see Rob finally getting to enjoy all the hard work he put in to build this car and for having to deal with all the trolls over the years that said it couldn’t be done and he would never finish it. Yeah I know it’s technically still not finished but at this point it’s not gonna take to much to get it finished and besides that, anyone that’s ever built a custom car like this will tell you that it’s never finished and will always be a work in progress.
To see this thing going around a track shows how far it has come! It is so good to see you shaking it down and I cannot wait to see it progress even more
The amount of time and effort that has went into this car, it's awesome to see it finally ripping around a track 👌 can't wait to see it fully dialed in!
1985 Audi Sport Quattro, still my favorite sounding piston engine and AutoTopNL has a good video on one if you're curious but yeah as far as pure, raw sound, Robs 4 rotor is up there. Ken Block also has a vid out on the Audi.
Your motivation and dedication are key to why this project hasn't failed. Alot of ups and downs through this. ALOT. So happy to see you actually enjoy this car, I saw alot of success in this video!
Just insane! Knowing how far you've come with the car to see it finally start to get pushed hard on a track has got to be an incredible feeling. I'll definitely be there next year if you come back! Huge congrats on 1 Million also!
No one can convince me otherwise that this car is a Decepticon and Rob is the only person brave enough, or crazy enough, to tame it. Keep turning corners Rob love the progress
Man it was so awesome to see this process, and HEAR this car in person. Thank you and your team for putting together such an awesome vehicle and being transparent with your process behind it! Good luck on 1 mil!
I'm loving the content of the 4 rotor, finally after so many years of on and off the car finally drives! But that next suggestion may be harsh. The best way to improve your driving skill would be by driving a slow car fast, not adapting yourself to a fast car. Get something like another RX-8 (if you wanna stay rotary. Otherwise... a BRZ like i've got is hard to beat), no more power than this, with tires, suspension and brakes. Learn to push it, learn to lose it. I'm confident you would improve faster than by wrestling 400 to 1000hp cars on the track. (thinking about it, running lower boost on the FC would be fine too. learn to corner and brake before enjoying straight line speed, if you want to be at ease for circuit racing!) Apart from that.. congrats on the million subs daddy Dahm. It's deserved, you've pushed hard to get that 4 roturd running ;)
@@CliffGeerts that would be 👌. I've been wanting to get into some kind of motorsports. But, there's limited tracks around here (wichita ks). There's 2 drag strips close by so if I ever get into something, drag will probably be the way to go. Although, drifting or circuit racing would be a blast!
Holy fucking jesus christ. That's it. Done. This is my favorite build ever. The sound this thing makes is just absolutely otherworldly. I had a massive grin on my face during those straight pulls and during that popping when it was stuck at redline. Also, I'm not surprised you can hear this thing from so far. I used to work at the local airport at an expediting company that was beside the runway. 3 or 4 Kilometers away is our local racetrack and I remember being able to hear the drifting and sprint car racing from over the farmers fields. The only difference is that I could just faintly hear the echo, but your RX7 sounded like it was literally on the other side of those houses from the filmer. The fact you could pick out the minute details of the shifting from so far is absolutely nutty. I wonder what kind of dB that thing produces, it actually might be unsafely loud.
Even through the helmet I can tell you're smiling. Loving it Rob, awesome to see all the progress come down to this after all those years, this is 100% a dream car. Amazing work, guys.
It’s absolutely amazing to see and hear how far you’ve come. I for one can’t wait to see you go back up against the Hoonicorn with full beans and see who really comes out on top!
That smile, excitement, and happiness emanating from you after that first lap brought me to tears man. It's a dream of mine to build a car worthy of passing down and being proud of. This jsut took me back to the days of wrenching with my family and friends and trying to build better. This is the motivation I needed to finally build a k powered beast our of my ek hatch. Keep up the awesome content.
Some peeps saying the 2 miles aways is bs but I believe it. I had a friend that straight piped his 350Z (typical) and late one night with almost no ambient sound we could hear him from over a mile away. We knew it was over a mile based on where we were standing and talking to him on the phone as he drove to the end of the road (roughly 1.4 miles). Anyway this car sounds so amazing I can only imagine experiencing it in person! Love how far the build has come and Pikes Peak would be epic but that's arguably the most difficult automotive race on Earth but dream big!
Easily one of my favorite projects to follow. Thank you for the insight and integrity, and huge shout out to you, Rob, for being so knowledgeable and doing such a good job of sharing your knowledge!
I have been watching you since I was junior in highschool and a kid drove a ratty rx7 to our small country HS, everything was in his motor turbo and 2 step and got kicked off the school property for it I'm 24 now. You have come so far and I have seen everything you put into this car, it's really an amazing job you did.
Dude I'm so proud of you guys. I've watched every single video on this car!! Sorry I'm not a patron but it's just not in my budget!! Thank you for all you do and to see it climb pikes peak with big huge aero would be so awesome
Looks like you learned a lot at grid life. Things on paper are never what they seem once you meet the track. I hope to see more track days like this. The problems, then the solutions are what makes it interesting to watch. By the way, what happened to the air filter? And, did you notice the water bottle spinning around the driveshaft?
This is easily my favourite build on UA-cam. I'd look at getting a pro driver to help you with sorting out the chassis and giving you tips on both setup and track driving. Also if you can tune the Haltech to rev match on downshift or get comfortable "heel-toeing," it will make a huge improvement to stability under brakes and into corners. Keep doing what you're doing Rob! Much love from Sydney, Australia ❤️
Man I have been away for so long and UA-cam sent me this banger of a video to my feed. It is so cool to see how far it has come and how much work has been put into it! I'm hooked again!
You can definitely see how crazy this car is already and how much crazier it’s gonna get. Rob just needs to get to the point where his driving is at the level of the car now. Takes time and there’s nothing but praise for building the car and having the balls to drive it. Learning how to drive the way the car needs is the next goal
Now that you have your own mill, you definitely should look at increasing your motion ratio at the rear. You wont bottom out and can keep the same coilover spring to achieve a higher "overall spring rate". Increasing MR will decrease shock travel, and can provide more spring rate options. Definitely need to invest in some linear potentiometers for shock travel and tuning.
Oh mate that shot from inside looking at how the rear reacts is such a cool shot. Please do a clear floor so you can retain that look and place a camera like you did more often. Great job mate
Damn Rob. I've been watching you on and off for YEARS. Since way before you even got this car. Let me say, for all the struggles you've endured along the way, congratufuckinglations for seeing this moment. And job well done sticking to the dream. I know it's not done, but damn what a satisfying moment. Happy for you man. Great work so far.
I will miss the 787b at this year's Le Mans Classic, but just seeing your 4 rotor here on youtube makes it almost Ok! incredible job, and congrats on 1M!
I love this car and please figure out the downshift, that would sound so dope down shifting into turns I can't wait for the future of this car and your driving abilities
Serious question: Rob this car is amazing and thank you for sharing it with us. You put everything and more into your projects, so .. What’s your policy for letting your team try and drive this car? Will you wait until you feel comfortable/satisfied with your own experience with it or have someone else already tried it? I know this might be a touchy subject and cause for controvery. I totally back you if the policy is strict and no-one drives it until you’re finnished having your time with it and ready to move on. Again thank you for sparking my interest in cars again.
he probably won't want anyone to drive it ever. it's his baby, friends that ask to drive your car are annoying AF. if you wanna drive it then buy it or give me the cash to hold on to in case you break it.
@@whackaify Yeah that’s exactly how I believe the absolute majority would feel, also Rob. But as another tinkerer, not of cars though, once a project is done and the objectives has been reached the novelty wears of pretty fast and I loose the love for my creations. That’s why I thought it was a good question, like .. when will you be “over” the cradling phase and feel ready to let go and take a risk by allowing others to bear the responsibility of such a valuable car, now typing this out, come to think about, he would have to be absolutely insane to allow this in any near future and probably a multitude of instances have directed him to not do it.
@@matthewhall1068 actually, no. They don’t because at this stage no money can replace this car. If this goes belly up there’s very little change we will ever see a replica. The amount of work, which in youtube context, would be redundant, is soo high and very little, probably no, new content coming. Thus tons of hours of work, and yet nearly no new content would arise, until the car would come to this stage again. What is that? Years probably, even with the experience and know-how they’ve gained. Not profitable one bit. Doing this thread it’s very clear to me now, how insane of a request that would be to ask to try it out lol
Just want to take a moment to appreciate, whats undoubtedly the world's most badass RX-7 🔥🔥 absolutely crazy man, i always love seeing the car, progress and just how far you push it

I'm going to be honest, I REALLY like seeing ALL of the process Rob. This is my favorite build of all time ever and every detail is like candy for me.
A true gearheads wet dream this channel is
Absolutely love it man, can’t wait until i can experience your car in person one of these days! Here’s to 1 mil subs 🍻 congrats!
Be quick, its likely to get banned at every track on the planet for noise.
I feel like rob and the team should literally just live on a track so they can rapidly prototype/tune the vehicle. seeing it get so close is amazing.
Like a golf country club lol
Maybe if they ask Cleetus nicely
Do what koenigsegg did and move the shop to a aircraft hangar and have access to the takeoff strip
MSR Houston Villas. Resort/Villas are track-side.
Off to Freedom Factory i guess!
I'm following your build 2-3 years now haha and i can say that you've nailed it.
0:49 It comes like an F1.
That camera angle on the suspension is probably one of the coolest things I've ever seen lol
No doubt killing it with suspension cam angle !!!!
Man as a man going through my own build struggles with my car this makes me emotional to see the results this car is reaping
I find myself tearing up a lot mostly at how proud of them I am and how honest Rob and the guys are.
The burning door reminds me of how the space shuttle looks when it comes back from a mission. I love it. And the car sounds so good.
yeah he needs like some heat tile for his door lol.
i absolutely love your videos and the way we are able to hear the 4rotor. no music, no bs, just sound of the machine... and i hate the abrupt endings but it makes me laugh every time. thanks for making these videos and i enjoy how you explain everything. keep up your work man, hope to see the car someday. greetings from germany
That's amazing Rob 👏 So exciting to see that actually get out there and rip it up! Did anyone else see that water bottle getting eaten up around 23:15

I've been watching you for 7+ years and it's amazing to see the progress you've made. Congrats on 1M subs! Hope I get the chance to drive with you some day 🤘🏽
When are we gonna see some more videos from you man?

So freaking happy for sticking around on this awesome project. Impressive and overall amazing work from everyone!
i mean. this must be one of youtubes coolest cars and also considering its not built by a racing team its just so cool, its not just a regular rx7 with a 4 rotor either.
Rob, I had COVID a few months ago, right when you guys were bringing the FC back to life and I totally binged everything about any of the rotaries. It feels like a fever dream watching the 4 rotor rip (just like when I was sick🤣)
I had the flu once
He needs his own freedom factory
Rob has to be one of the most enthusiastic, optimistic, Zen tubers ever. He completely accepts the journey for what it is, learns from what works and what doesn't, never cries or complains... Really easy to get behind a good person like him. I had a '79 rx7 automatic trans and was getting ready to do a manual swap but ended up selling it. What a mistake. Much Love.
glad to see al the support and honor your getting. This build is amazing and your tenacity is unrivaled. Keep the enthusiasm my man!!

This is legit my favorite car on YT. Nobody else has a project car that brings as much energy as the 4-rotor does.

The fact that was a non issue makes my heart go pitter pat.
@@RobDahm you mean Sutututu ?
looks like youre hitting the bumpstops, so going with stiffer springs or a "stiffer" exchange ratio on the suspension arms would help with going around corners and not tearing the jack points down.
also, its a bit hard to tell but it looks like theres positive camber in the rear which i dont recommend unless youre exclusively drifting.
He also mentioned in recent videos that the suspension is currently "falling rate", meaning the more it compresses, the softer it gets. Not ideal! I imagine that's on the list to revise.
I noticed that too. Looked like he was basically out of shock travel on those turns. maybe instead of stiffer springs, stiffer sway bar?

I’ve said many times and I’ll continue to say it; this is one of the most impressive cars I’ve ever seen, and it’s all built (mostly) by two people. Unbelievable build in every sense of the word unbelievable. Beyond impressed by you and Isaiah. I absolutely eat up every second of content with this car wearing a massive grin the entire time.

*Wow I remember seeing this couple years ago when you first started it...so cool to see how far it has came! Keep up the good work/content!*

(thinking about it, running lower boost on the FC would be fine too. learn to corner and brake before enjoying straight line speed, if you want to be at ease for circuit racing!)
Apart from that.. congrats on the million subs daddy Dahm. It's deserved, you've pushed hard to get that 4 roturd running ;)
A 2-rotor MX-5? 😉❤️
@@CliffGeerts I've always thought a 3 rotor mr2 could be cool
Watching the suspension work was amazing, such an incredible camera angle. That was just really, really cool to see.
Man it was life goals to see this thing at Midwest Fest!!! Thank you so much for bringing it out!!! Hope to see you next year!!!
Didnt think i would ever actually see this car in real life when i started watching the build videos. Big ups Rob and Isaiah!
Thank you for the insight and integrity, and huge shout out to you, Rob, for being so knowledgeable and doing such a good job of sharing your knowledge!
it's always nice to see and hear loud controlled explosions
It straight up sounds like a cannon firing on those pops that peak the mics
That fuel surge tank looks like it's bint to break its mount when you shift at 13:10 in the vid, looks like it needs some reinforcement
I have been watching you since I was junior in highschool and a kid drove a ratty rx7 to our small country HS, everything was in his motor turbo and 2 step and got kicked off the school property for it
I'm 24 now. You have come so far and I have seen everything you put into this car, it's really an amazing job you did.

ALSO the production quality is awesome!
You can definitely see how crazy this car is already and how much crazier it’s gonna get. Rob just needs to get to the point where his driving is at the level of the car now. Takes time and there’s nothing but praise for building the car and having the balls to drive it. Learning how to drive the way the car needs is the next goal
Bro on the last lap there was a water bottle in the engine flopping around 😂😂😂
Now that you have your own mill, you definitely should look at increasing your motion ratio at the rear. You wont bottom out and can keep the same coilover spring to achieve a higher "overall spring rate". Increasing MR will decrease shock travel, and can provide more spring rate options. Definitely need to invest in some linear potentiometers for shock travel and tuning.
Oh mate that shot from inside looking at how the rear reacts is such a cool shot.
Please do a clear floor so you can retain that look and place a camera like you did more often.

But as another tinkerer, not of cars though, once a project is done and the objectives has been reached the novelty wears of pretty fast and I loose the love for my creations. @@matthewhall1068 actually, no. They don’t because at this stage no money can replace this car. If this goes belly up there’s very little change we will ever see a replica.
