    I love the idea of a kid’s craft cart.

    I love the long Alex drawers, too. I stacked a 2nd set of the long drawers on top of the 1st. And of course, stored another set of smaller paper cubes on top of that. 🙃 It has worked perfect for 4 years and have had no issues with stability, bowing or drawer sliding in the lower unit. It is in a corner and I had the tall narrower Alex on the other side that also helped with stability. I put a set of velcro command strips on the corners between the 2 to help keep them from slipping. A strip of carpet grip mat would probably be even easier. You can secure them to the wall for safety since they are stacked. (I did not use the casters on either set and they are on a carpeted floor.)

    Thank you for your tips. I am moving, and will have a new, bigger craft space. I will be heading to ikea to purchase 2 sets of those drawers. And I have 7 grandkids, who are all crafty, so I might need 2 of those rolling carts.

      That’s so fun to set up a new space. I had to live in my new space for a while and eventually reorganize a bit to make my new room more functional. Your grandkids would be thrilled with the rolling carts I bet! I also have the small wood kids table and chair for my daughter and it makes for a great space.

    Thanks for these interesting ideas. Unfortunately, when I started collecting cling and unmounted red rubber stamps, I discarded the plastic sheet they were sticking to in their original packing. So, now I have all sorts of piles of stamps that are really hard to organize. The heavy plastic envelope system doesn’t work because the stamps end up in a pile inside the envelope and don’t lay flat. Ive tried adhering them to every kind of plastic can find, but haven’t come across the right material. Do you have any idea how to get similar hard plastic sheets that will hold cling and unmounted stamps? If I could find that, I’d be able to cut the sheets for each group of stamps and then use the plastic envelopes for storage. But I’m stumped. Thanks for any guidance you can provide.

    • @ChelseyVorosmarty
      @ChelseyVorosmarty  4 місяці тому

      Yes I did make my own tabs for my cardstock storage. I used a retired die set from CTMH called Z3983 Tab Thin Cuts. The total length is 3 3/4". Hope that helps!

  • @louisebrislane6607
    @louisebrislane6607 4 місяці тому

    I have the shelving for card stock so now I think I will slide the colours into plastic sleeves to make it easier to slide them in & out of the shelves as so far I haven't been happy with the system. As far as scraps go, I used to shove them into plastic bags when finished with a project but my daughter gave me her old desk side filing unit that now sits beside me & I was hoping to file the papers in there until I realised that it was only 10 inches high! ☹ So then I came up with the bright idea of using the files to put the different coloured scraps into them & they work great as I find myself looking in there now instead of getting up for another sheet of cardstock first & it has gotten rid of all the bags of scraps I had accumulated. I use the top two narrower drawers for keeping my bits & pieces in one & the other is overflowing with my distress oxide inks & still not enough space!! So I will have to keep thinking about another solution to where to store them. I love the idea of where to store your stencils & so I will go with that idea as mine are all over the place & so don't get used as it takes me ages to locate them all. I put an order in at CM for their new tab cutter a couple of days ago, so I will use it to make the tabs to put on the plastic sleeve tops so I can see the colour of cardstock in the bag before pulling the sheet out!! So I guess I am combining your idea & Julie's idea into one. So thank you to all you ladies for spending this week giving us all new ideas of how we may be able to utilize your idea into our space & to how our brain works (thanks Katy) as that comment really took the pressure off!!

    Did you say you move your thin cuts that match a stamp set to your drawer with all of the other thin cuts?

    • @ChelseyVorosmarty
      @ChelseyVorosmarty  4 місяці тому +1

      Most of those thin cuts in the drawer are stand alone ones. I keep ones that coordinate with stamps in the stamp envelopes. I do combine several sets of thin cuts into one envelope when they’re small enough. Some of the card workshop sets have thin cuts that don’t coordinate with stamps and if it’s something I will grab a lot I’ll move it into my thin cut drawer for easy access. I hope that makes sense.

    • @ChelseyVorosmarty
      @ChelseyVorosmarty  4 місяці тому

      Organization is really a process! I have changed things slowly over time because sometimes you just don't know what will work for you until you try it. When just starting to organize your space try to think about do you need supplies visible so you'll use them or do you prefer things to be out of sight? What do you use the most? Those things should be close to you and easy to access. What types of things are your organizing and what size are they? Before investing in storage units and containers you need to know what the size is of the items you're organizing. The last thing you want is storage that doesn't fit your supplies well. I hope that helps and good luck designing your space!
