The washer goes on the other side of the strut bracket. You can also see that the bolt is countersunk to match the bracket provided. Also, you didn't show the emergency pull cable attachment on the latch assembly. Thanks for the video!
It certainly would be nice to have a power frunk from factory but to be fair with Tesla I've never seen any other vehicles (EV or ICE) with a power-operated frunk/hood. Also I rarely use the frunk on my MY (unless on a long trip) so it's def not a priority. Thanks for this.
Had you read the instruction you would have known that the washer went on the other side of the strut bottom bracket and then the counter set screw would have been counter sunk and the bracket would have been straight .
Best install video so far, but I was hoping you'd have more trouble so I can see how you fix it! I just installed a v5 into an identical Model Y as yours, but the hood doesn't want to latch. It just bounces off the latch and the suction motor misses the hook. If I give it a little push right as it makes contact, it works fine and looks flush. I've spent hours fiddling with the latch positions with no luck. Thoughts? Thanks!
Have you tried reaching out to Hansshow directly yet? They have an awesome help line with techs that can help with install issues. Also have you adjusted the latch assembly to the highest position on the frame it can be to help it get more room to grab the hook?
@@LockettTech I contacted Hansshow on WhatsApp and using the contact from on their site, but no response yet. I have tried hours of latch and bracket positions. Both high, both low, one high one low, but the hook just never can get down far enough where the latch can pull it in. Just a light hand pressure on the Tesla logo as it makes contact allows it to work. I spent more time on it today with no luck. It seems like latch spring is too strong, but I’m out of ideas. I’m an engineer and I feel defeated. Haha.
Update: Hansshow has been trying to help me via WhatsApp. Having me move the latch and suction bracket around to no avail. Now they are sending me new struts. Perhaps shorter ones. Fingers crossed.
UPDATE: The new struts Hansshow sent work perfectly! They are about a quarter inch shorter than the ones that came with the kit. So, maybe Tesla made a slight change to some Y's. But now it closes with authority and latches. My hood is also no longer bowed. The new struts did try to open the hood too far causing the struts to pop off. Moving the hood manually to just shy of fully open and long-pressing the inner frunk button sets the max open position and fixes that issue.
How long is your discount code good for? I’m getting my MYLR7 tomorrow and I’m prioritizing protection purchases like mats and PPF before ‘wants’ like this. Buuuutttt I want it 😂
Be careful with these power frunk version! They use to open when driving. Very dangerous! Happened to a car in Germany because the modules were not proper build and had a mass failure.

Thanks for the video!
Looks great! Zero chance I could do that myself!
If I can do it anyone can! It’s really not bad. Just make sure you don’t drop any tools…like a socket…in the abyss.
Same here. I'm so bad at installing anything myself and certainly wouldn't attempt doing this myself. Would definitely hire a shop to do it.
@@LockettTech I'm planning to install it this weekend by myself.. How long does it take?

💯
Does that void your warranty at all?
Whoever came up with the tesla power frunk and kick open is balling right now

Working on mine with the new 12v Li-ion battery. Gonna be fun hahaha
Let us know how you make out.

Nice Video. You can also do voice command to open the Frunk
Anyone have one of these? I'm curious about longevity of the product.
My installation guide says to install the strut with the wired end down. Yours didn't say that?

Congrats on the MY. The code should be good for a month or two. Def do PPF first!
They might not have this because if it pops open on the freeway it would be really bad if it opened all the way.
Dang…. I was fairly pessimistic on getting before I watched the video. Now I want it!🙄
It’s sweet!!!
@20:28 based on your updated video, doesn’t seem the original install was your fault but rather the strut. Is that the side that’s giving you issues?
Yup! Same side and same issue. The strut just keeps twisting when it engages and tries to lift the hood and then twists itself right off the head.
I suck at fixing and building so I’m coming to u lol
Can u do a kick open video

I would rather pay someone to do this.
