When I was steeped in my modern evangelical theology I suffered profoundly in aloneness and confusion! Add some honest hearted striving and it felt even more hopeless! This began for me in 84 and I’m 63 now, what changed for me was the Union. The realization that begins with “Jesus are you in me?” I’ve been in a Christ based counseling program for about a year now and have hit what folks refer to as the “hard stuff”. As Paul Young instructs healing occurs in community even if the community is a license therapist. Baxter’s honesty about his feelings is very helpful!
I too was raised from the wound in a fundamental, evangelical (Southern Baptist) church and it wasn't until a week ago, I heard THE Gospel and it's healing me! I was aware of Church History and the Eastern Orthodox, but I couldn't "hear" them because I was lost in my delusional understanding of the Penal Sub Atonement theory via Anslem, Augustine, Luther and especially Calvin. When I watched "The Shack" something began to move and then I watched Ragamuffin and Rich Mullins as well as Brennan Manning lead me back East to the Early Church...

The "Simple Gospel"!!! but the complexity of our rewiring/understanding! So appreciate the "pioneering" of Baxter, Paul Young and the others! Trinity may I(we) get this!
Mat 13:41-43 The Son of Man shall send out His angels, and they shall gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who do iniquity, 42 and shall cast them into a furnace of fire. There shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. 43 Then the righteous shall shine out like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear.
Why is this such a struggle? He is trying to find Catholic faith without being honest about it. Presence if Christ in the Incarnation. Calvin and presbyterians left it and Catholics said they were heretics. It is simple.
Whoever has suffered in the flesh ceases to sin.

Finally! An important emphasis on John 14-17. the Truth sets us a Free! Would that the entire western evangelical church get the priority 🙏❤️
