    Dude, I appendix carry, and I think it would have sufficed to just state that taking a leak is not a problem at all, but you went ahead and demonstrated it. That was so funny, I thought you were just going to simulate, and when you actually started taking a piss, I lost the mouth full of coffee I had. That was hilarious, LoL.

    I'm overweight by 30 pounds and appendix carry a M&P Shield. The key is to create a habit even if its slightly uncomfortable. Your body will adapt and in my case, having a quality holster goes a long way in the comfort dept.

    I've been appendix carrying for going on 2yrs with a holster made by Mike. I'm not skinny and not quite tactical muffin top yet...lol. I have no issues at all with appendix carrying. Everything he stated in this video is spot on for appendix carry. The right holster makes a big difference. You have to make sure you have a great quality holster designed for the position. I have a few other appendix holsters like G-code, Raven and they do not have the same comfort as what Mike is making. His holster is my go to for EDC. I highly recommend them and I am planning to get another made. He really knows what he is talking about when it come to appendix carry...great video.

    On the tactical muffin top issue.... appendix is fine for me walking around because the gun rests under my gut, if anything the tummy helps prevent printing. When sitting though it's pretty tough because if you try to pull your pants up to prevent it from digging in your legs or whatever your stomach then pushes everything away from you and bends the muzzle inward. So if I am appendix carrying usually before I sit in the car it either gets moved to the side or comes off completely.

    • @levlev4603
      @levlev4603 8 років тому

      i do same, work good. are you pull you pants little bit down? it is work with regular jeans but not with tactical pants with hight rise (like 511 prolite) if don't pull down - horrible printing. if pull - look like guy from bad neighborhood.
      also , carry exactly on 12:00 , but low. can holster push some viens and I will have some health issues ?
      any advices?

    Great video as always. I have always carried AIWB since I began carrying. I am 6 foot 2 inch and 195 lbs. I use Stealth Gear AIWB holsters for all my EDC pistols. I just find AIWB to be the most comfortable for my body type, and I feel much more in control of the access to my weapon at all times.
    All of the scenarios you covered are also reasons I preferred AIWB carry.

    Morning
    Just want to say I think you’re doing a great job on all your videos!
    I have 27 years of active LE experience and although I’m not comfortable with 12 o’clock carry I did buy one of your excellent holsters and carry it well at 8 o’clock with a Glock 23. I found your work in kydex is equal to Mitch Rosen and Ken Null in leather.
    I use a Striker Control Device. It Makes reholstering a Glock much safer and would recommend using one.
    Congratulations on your new family, best of luck you you in the future!

    I have a tactical muffin and I carry appendix I haven't done it for a long time but I've picked up on some things while doing it. I carry a glock 19 with taran tactical mag extensions also with the beaver tail grip and I don't have much trouble concealing all of it probably just cuz I'm big or what but the main thing with big guys I've found personally would be how sit and bend with it on. I found the easiest and most comfortable for me is to grab my pants at the belt and pull out a lil and then pull up where my grip on top of my muffin when I go to sit in the car or anywhere to me it's the best and most comfortable way if u have a tactical muffin and u appendix carry. Also the holster I use is a t-Rex raptor with raptor claw and is by far the most comfortable holster I own personally. If this helps and body let me know or if u have any other ideas when it comes to tactical muffins and appendix carry. Thanks

      Do you have to adjust between muffin top and fupa or vice versa when you sit? Asking honestly. There are CCW channels that discuss the '300th parallel' where the belt divides the two if you are over 300lbs. So just wondering.

    I'm new to appendix carry. Been doing it in the house trying to get comfortable with it. All my carry guns that I aiwb are similar in size to my g19 .
    I just can't get into sub compact guns beside the g26.
    I just started aiwb public with a hot chamber, and I must say its a better presentation and also better concealment then my usual strong side carry. But it is noticeably less comfortable.
    Advice I would give so far is get a quality gun belt, get a quality holster, and have a quality firearm. Personally I will only da/sa aiwb, and striker fired or sa firearms are strong side carry only.

    I have been appendix carrying since I got my ccw. I have had people asking me how I could even carry like that. These are people I see at the shooting range. I tell them it is really the easiest way for me to carry. Plus it is harder for some to take your gun from you when you appendix carry. I have to say you will go through a lot of holsters till you find the one you like that works for you.

    I recently got my holster from Mike and totally love it. I quit smoking in January and have gained 40 pounds or so. Used to be 5'9"- 135lbs. and now I am up to like 175-180. This is the only holster I have found that works with my "tactical muffin top". I am trying to get back to fighting weight, but having a good holster I can AIWB in the mean-time really helps. Thanks again Mike for the awesome signed holster! Now I just need you to make one for a Beretta 92fs, a Kahr CM40, and a Bond arms derringer.

    Anyways I'm a pretty mobile individual. I work landscaping which means I'm constantly climbing trees and tall bushes, and walk around quite a bit with machines strapped to my back. On my off days I attempt to maintain myself in constant movement whether i'm self defense training, working out, taking long walks on the beach or having candlelight dinner.. lol The question i'm asking is... will appendix carry hinder my ability to do these things or is it amongst the best positions? Keep in mind i am a new weapons owner so I'm a nube to the community.

    The pistol I have found for the skinny to average guy or girl that really balances the 3 "C's" + P is the Taurus Millennium G2 PT111. It is compact with a 12 round magazine of 9mm with 1 in the chamber that is 13. It has a manual safety and the + P is for Price. I picked one up last year for $199.00!

    hey mike been using one your holsters you made for me. I am overweight and it is possible to carry appendix. I found carrying it a little deeper allows for better comfort and concealibility. Also, like Mike said it gives you a motivation to get in shape. Thanks Mike for the great holster.

    I carry a P938 in AIWB. The concern that I have is ride height. I can't get a good/fast grip because my holster rides low. New holster with adjustable ride height is on the way. Since I am fairly overweight (6'4" 235lbs), I can't really get my thumb between the grip and my belly when drawing. So I have been practicing my 3-finger draws in order to retain muscle memory.
    And yes, I am trying to exercise too.

      I got my holster a few days ago and tried it out a couple times. I was a little bummed because it did not feel comfortable at all. I watched your video again last night and made an adjustment accordingly. Originally I was trying it at 1 o'clock but adjusted to how you carry. Also the advice about hiking up your pants before sitting was money too. I've been cruising around the house sitting, lounging on the couch, and it feels great. Thanks again for all your info brotha! Leather or Kydex holsters? I was thinking of getting the Galco Summer Comfort IWB for my M&P9c. But now you've got me seriously considering kydex.

    • @gjhoward

      Leather has the potential to collapse, especially if you are carrying IWB. Not recommended unless it is a leather holster with an internal rigid frame. But that makes the holster wider and not good for IWB either.

    I'm a "new shooter" and trying to think backwards a bit. So, if I had a custom holster like yours with the mag attached I wouldn't be able to get my holster into my glove box in my car and lock it up if I'm needing to go into a gun-free area. I drive a compact car. I do like your system tho.
    In that same vein, thinking backwards ... if I'm a new shooter and still trying to decide on that perfect pistol that fulfills my attempt to balance the 3 C's, for appendix carry, would it help to measure from the top of my belt to that mystical bend when you sit and use that measurement somehow in helping to select that pistol? :-/ I know ... probably a dumb question ... Thanks for the video.

    • @MrZurik007
      @MrZurik007 7 років тому +1

      You probably should carry a spare mag with you regardless of the capacity of the gun. This is primarily to be able to swap the mag out should your primary one malfunction. You can get a separate mag carrier just for the mag and put it on top of your gun in the glove box.
      P.S. If you have to put your gun in the glove box, I would recommend taking it out of your pants together with the holster, so that your trigger guard is always covered by the holster. Also get a non-collapsible holster if you don't yet have one.

    • @MrZurik007
      @MrZurik007 7 років тому +1

      Also on the size of the gun, 11-13 rounds is plenty, so you should be good with something like M&P9c, Also capacity mainly affects the concealability, while the barrel length (or the gun length) affects the comfort. Just something to keep in mind.

    I'm struggling with getting used to having a loaded gun pointed at vital areas. I'm carrying a glock 19 as well. I've seen others use a foam wedge, or g-code clips which appear to help push the muzzle away from the body a little. It also seems to push the grip in tighter to help with printing. I would like to hear your comments on these options.

    Just some constructive criticism, your hand movements made your auto focus go a bit crazy. otherwise the video quality is great.

    Nice setup. I finally got my hands on a G19 MOS, slapped a surefire XC1 on it and ordered a RMR. I can't wait to get the RMR. What MOA dot did you decide on?

    • @LastLineOfDefense
      @LastLineOfDefense  8 років тому

      I have the 6.5MOA on both my RMR'd Glocks. i recently just picked up a Burris Fastfire with the 3.5MOA dot to put on my MOS Glock though. I think for practical/defensive applications, the 6.5MOA dot is a better choice. For distance shooting and precision, the 3.5 would be better.

    Apologies if this is already addressed ... I've noticed a lot of the appendix carry holsters are one big piece crossing 12 o'clock. What is the advantage of that? I just played around with it using my usual 4 o'clock holsters for both g26 and g19 coupled with an IWB mag carrier ... why would I want a bigger bulkier thing? (Acknowledging there may well be an obvious AF reason - I just don't know it). Thx.

      I can't post links here, UA-cam blocks the comment, but Warrior Poet Society the guy there, John Lovell former Army Ranger, addresses appendix carry in a few videos. He is a user of the Tier 1 Agis or Axis Slim holster. A video he posted a few years ago he was stating it was for the dual clip attachments that kept the holster in roughly the same place for your muscle memory. The other benefit is the holster and extra mag right there, or in the case of the T-Rex Arms Side Car Holster you can attach a few other things (handcuffs, tourniquet, AR mag, etc).

    This is probably an old video but I'm just getting around to watching it. How does appendix carry work in an office environment if you're not wearing a suit jacket. Do you find an easy to keep concealed with a tight button up shirt or Polo. I've been pocket carrying an LCP 2 and I really enjoyed that but I also really want a Glock 19.

      Vertx Phantom Airflow. But these are an older model where you could get multicam mesh... - amzn.to/2akAxPf - but that amazon price seems kind of like a ripoff, they can probably be had cheaper elsewhere.

    Great video. Recently, someone brought this to my attention that I never quite thought about before. Regarding your holsters, if the pistol in holstered, can you squeeze the holster in on itself and touch the trigger? Hopefully I explained this in a way you can understand..

    • @LastLineOfDefense
      @LastLineOfDefense  8 років тому

      No, no good holster will allow the trigger to be pulled while holstered in the manner you are describing. That might be an issue with some low quality leather holsters, but no decent leather holster, or pretty much any kydex holster, would allow that.

    • @WebbJam
      @WebbJam 8 років тому

      I would absolutely agree with you. You'd be surprised, it was a fairly major manufacturer. While I have your attention, do you make a holster that accepts an X300U?

    Ive been shooting guns for years. And in the next few months I will be able to get me CCW license. If my goal is to eventually carry a Glock 19. Should I first carry something smaller lik a Glock 26. Or save the money and go straight to carrying a Glock 17. Keep in mind this will be my first concealed carry but I am very familiar with glocks.

    Not sure if you were just tucking your shirt behind your system for demonstration or if you do this regularly while you drive...
    If you don't, what do you think about the people who do?
    and if you do, when you get stopped by LEOs do you pull your shirt back over your gun?

    • @LastLineOfDefense
      @LastLineOfDefense  8 років тому

      I don't always do that, but often times I do - in the video, I did it more to just show that it was possible to sit/drive and carry appendix. I certainly wouldn't recommend it if open carry isn't legal in your state/city though. I can't really recommend what to do if you get pulled over like that, as I don't want to provide any legal advice. I'd want to keep it covered though in the event I was pulled over, though I certainly wouldn't reach for it if the cop was in my presence or even walking up.

    • @SeventhSeal1
      @SeventhSeal1 8 років тому

      +Last Line Of Defense I personally don't uncover it while I drive, I untuck the bottom of my shirt from the lap portion of my seat belt while leaving my weapon concealed. I do this mostly so that if a pedestrian sees it, or I give my kids friends a ride or anything like that I don't have to worry about causing a panic or anything... Even though open carry in Oregon is legal.
      Thanks for the reply

    You have said that you make custom holsters kydex. I am in a wheelchair so I sit all the time. I see that you carry appendix, I would like to have a holster made to carry appendix but out side the pants with the holster turned sideways with right hand cross draw instead of up and down. The gun I carry know is the Glock 36, 45auto. Would also like a separate single clip. Would like to talk a tell you in depth what I need.

    I ran into this video on a google search as I was researching on getting
    a CCW and found this very helpful in choosing a holster (from your other video).
    With that provided with the training, would AIWB be good for a first
    time carrier? I heard from some people on random forums that AIWB is not
    recommended.
