I just love the Grumpy Old Men movies. The 2 Grumpy Old Men movies have a certain, lovely, warm charm to them. For example, I love how the scenery of the state of Minnesota is practically a co-star. In Grumpy Old Men we get to see how nice small town Minnesota looks with all that snow and ice. And in Grumpier Old Men we get to see what it looks like underneath all that snow and ice. Just beautiful. The small hometown feel also really adds to the charm. Makes one want to move there to live and hopefully have Max, John, Pop, Ariel, Maria (and all the others) as neighbors.
@Ken9284 as I understand it, they were planning a third Grumpy Old Men movie called grumpiest old men. The plot had something to do with Maria's divorce from her previous husband in Italy. There was a chance it wasnt finalized and therefore she wouldn't be legally married to Max. So, the whole gang travels to Italy to sort things out. I don't think that would have worked as well because it would have moved the setting of the movies from Minnesota to Italy.
You could tell Max was fixing to fight John about releasing Catfish Hunter before he mentioned Mr Gustafson. Shows how much respect he had for the Old man
"Max, let's get the hell outta here!" "What do ya mean, let's get the hell outta here? We still got more time!'' ''That damn fish'll be halfway to Redwing by now, c'mon let's go!'' "Five more minutes!'' "We'll be late!" "Weddings never start on time! What's the matter with you? What are ya worried about?" ''I'm going!" "All right, you'll have to swim back! Wait a minute! Where are you going? Don't touch my motor!" "Will you just sit down, John, for crying out loud? Five more minutes!" "Just sit there for a minute, and shut up!'' "Moron!'' "Putz!"

That's a good size Flathead catfish. Can't tell if it's real or a perfectly detailed prop. It would have been flopping a lot more if it was real, unless it's been out of the water after a couple minutes for the shot. I know they grow a little bigger than that!
Flathead, I figure it's about a deuce. Roughly the size of my personal best. We got blues and flats out here that could probably eat that fish. Earlier this year, a dude caught a 95lb blue out of the river. Damn thing was the size of a small dolphin
“Maybe it’s not a fish, maybe it’s something from outer space” that line gets me every time.

Shame this series never got a trilogy

Still... John is still "one sick bastard" though. 😆
Two great actors. Two great men.

Little bigger.. ever watch River Monsters? 😆
Pure gold.
Wabasha is good flathead water. Big ones fight like a saltwater fish. Little ones fight like a cruiser class smallmouth. Lots of fun.
"Drop the anchor, Max."
