This sunscreen definitely leaves a cast on my deep skin, but I love it. It doesn’t irritate my skin and is great for the colder months. I wouldn’t recommend it for the summer/spring, as it is very greasy. I’ve been tolerating the cast, since we’re in quarantine and wearing masks. Great review!

What do you use in summer months if I might ask? I’m always on the lookout for good mineral based sunscreens that won’t leave me to look like I’m trying to lighten my skin tone all the while looking crazy while just trying to protect my skin.☺️

Same! It leaves a cast on me too and does not irritate my sensitive skin. It is also very greasy and wears well in the winter. In the summer months I lean more towards chemical.

FYI. The Pipette Baby Ezcema Lotion shares many of the same ingredients as their sister company’s product Biossance Squalane & Omega Repair Cream. If you like Biossance, I suggest reviewing the ingredient’s list of Pipette’s products. I think you will find that they share at least 80% of the same ingredients at a much lower price point.

I've been using the eczema lotion, baby lotion (fragrance free), and mineral sunscreen for a couple months and really enjoy them! I use all of these products on my face and, while everyone is different, these didn't aggravate my acne. For reference, I am an adult female with extremely acne prone, reactive, sensitive, and eczema prone skin. My skin type, especially during winter, is much more dry but in the hotter months it gets more combination. I would say that these are much more suitable for the dryer winter months, especially the sunscreen - this is VERY oily and if you have dryer skin like me, you might love it, but if you have oily skin, I'm not sure if you'd love it. I do think, however, that the baby lotion is light enough to use all year round (this is probably my favorite out of all 3 that I have). Hope this mini review helps someone :)
Thanks for doing a review Dr. Dray! I've been curious about the cream to powder and will definitely give this a try for my underarms and upper thigh areas. Love your content so much!

I've tried both Biossance and Pipette SPF. I decided to continue Pipette over Biossance because Pipette has a higher SPF and is half the price for twice the amount. It's been a great break for my wallet (I slather on sunscreen). It is also one of the few sunscreens that doesn't make my face burn, since I have stupid sensitive skin.

I’m a POC (i have medium brown skin) and have the SLIGHTEST, SLIGHTEST white cast with this sunscreen (it does focus mainly on hair such as eyebrows and takes a few minutes to set in). It does look greasy so if that matters to you, you may not like it. Also, it does dry out my skin (I have dry skin already and every sunscreen dries me out anyway). I REALLY LOVE IT. I purchased the sunscreen a few months ago because it was on sale for $12 and got the baby lotion as a gift with my purchase. I've loved the sunscreen so far because I have dry skin, so the "greasy" feeling doesn't bother me. The cast isn't too bad on me because I have fair skin. What made me buy it was the price, it being vegan and cruelty free, and the misleading ad. I wanted to see it it was true because other mineral sunscreens like the Roche Posay ones leave a heavy cast on my skin. I don't know if there are any studies confirming this, but for some reason this Pipette mineral sunscreen has helped my acne breakouts! I don't know if it's due to the zinc oxide, but it reduces my acne's inflammation after using it for a couple of days.

Very dry, sensitive, acne+eczema prone, and I have repurchased this SPF. I like the "shine" because I prefer that to my regular, arid, desert-face. I'm definitely a F1 skin type, so the cast blends in for me well. The Pipette reminds me of the Cotz non- tinted, but at a better price-per-ounce.
I also love the Pipette baby balm as a lip balm before going to sleep... and I agree the baby lotion is not really great for extra dry body skin. It has worked out the best for me as a facial moisturizer.

Hey Dr. Dray! I’m of deeper skin, makeup companies describe my tone as medium dark. I use to use the Aveeno Baby SPF 50; it’s very thick and the white cast is very difficult to work with. I recently switch to Pipette and I must say I am impressed. In comparison to the Aveeno, the formula is quite lightweight and easy to work with. I do agree that it leave a cast but it’s very manageable and nothing like what I’m use to. It’s nice! I will say, for someone with drier skin who never really shows any oiliness, this leaves me GREASY AF by end of day. But I’d rather be greasy than ashy, so I highly recommend for brown skin!

I'm a very dark guy - Fitzpatrick 6 - and have combination skin. I got my pipette delivery in last week & having used it for about a week now, I can say for skin of my shade:
    1) There *is* a cast, however it is _very, very light_ . Practically unnoticeable. If that still bothers you Dr Alexis Stephens has a video where she advises on how to pigment your own sunscreen to your own preference
    2) Don't slap it all on at once. Apply small amounts and work them into the skin, then when they're adequately absorbed do another blob until you've got adequate coverage. If you put large amounts on all at once you'll get a white cast
    3) A trick I use for the facial hair residue is I use a beard oil after applying the sunscreen and it just disappears 🤷🏿‍♂️

It does leave a cast but I noticed that the cast fades after 10-15 minutes, though you will remain a lil shiny. I’ve mixed it with concealer and it does help reduce the shine. I will likely repurchase! Thanks for the review, and for using the word “Black”!

I finished five bottles of Pipette sunscreen. It made my skin glows. Hydration lasts about several hours in NE winters, a couple times of re-applying are needed. This sunscreen doesn’t work for hot and humid environments. It doesn’t stay on the face. It gets sweat off like mud slide.

Most shiny sunscreens react to foundations. It male them oxidize and look darker, more gray or orange depending on the formulation. An option can be to wait for the sunscreen to dry on the face or powder it really lightly before putting on the foundation, yet again, it might still react.

Thanks for this video Dr. Dre! I loved the sunscreen. It does leave a little bit of a white cast but it’s not very obvious and you can hardly see it after you blend it in really well on my lightly tanned skin. My dry, sensitive rosacea skin loves how moisturizing and calming it feels.

I bought 4 bottles of this sunscreen because it was 2 for $20 on their website . I have dry acne prone very sensitive skin and it's hard to find a mineral sunscreen that works for me. On my light medium skin the white cast goes away after application. It is very dewy and a little greasy which is perfect for my dry skin. If you have oily skin, I wouldn't recommend.
For my sensitivity it did burn a little when I first applied it, but the burning went away. So far this is the best mineral sunscreen for dry skin that you can find at Target.

What a coincidence--I just applied this sunscreen minutes before this video popped up in my feed. I have brown skin ( Fitzgerald IV/V, South Asian/Asian Indian), and it does leave a cast on me. However, a decent amount of that cast fades after 20 minutes. It's still a bit too much for my face. But I'm using it on the backs of my hands and the tops of my feet. The cast fades enough to not be that noticeable. And my hands are so dry (thanks, Covid!) that the cream is soothing. And maybe because it's a mineral sunscreen, the effect lasts longer than my usual hand lotion.

On day one with this sunscreen. I’ve worn it for about 10 hours now and the shine has not gone away. I applied a fair powder all over to reduce the shine a little bit. I have extremely fair skin and still noticed the white cast. The powder on my face after a full day appears slightly patchy now, but I’m also not someone who typically wears face makeup. For the price and the spf, I am happy with this product. I wish it were something more absorbing but I’m satisfied

This sunscreen is a good one, and it does leave a cast, but I’m pretty fair, so that’s not as much of an issue. However, you’re so right: it is so shiny. I’m on the drier side, and I love a dewy look, but it’s even a bit much for me. But omg, as far as spfs that are nice to apply, holy cannoli, this is incredible. It’s maybe my fav of my sunscreens to apply ever? And I have a lot of them! However I I have two concerns: I wonder if that hydrating formula is gonna be something I had when the incredibly humid summers arrive in my area. (Right now it’s the best, though) I also feel like this type of non nano zinc comes off on everything! I see white traces on my sweatshirts etc. Does this happen to anyone else? I wear mineral sunscreen on my face every single day, so I’m no stranger to zinc either.

It does leave a white cast on my skin but is not too noticeable. I'm black and I used this sunscreen. Couple things mmmkay It leaves a slight white cast that goes away and comes back it is strange. As for the feel of it, this is definitely not for hot/humid temps as it will make your face feel disgusting. I have acne-prone skin and when I put it on my skin I was afraid it would cause acne. I just use the biossance right now and I use that on my body.

I think you’ll love it. I have rosacea, so although the I’m not necessarily really dry, with that inherent skin barrier defect as part of rosacea, I lose moisture through the day faster than most - especially in the winter. (Where I live it’s ultra humid in the summer.). At afternoon time, my skin tends to start feeling a bit tight and dry. This fixes that right up. I imagine living in a dry climate would create a similar scenario.

I have light brown skin (that is also sensitive) and this is one of my favorite sunscreens in this price range. My bf has brown skin and he loves it as well. Some of the whitecast goes away after a few minutes, but it may be more challenging for deeper brown and black skin. It may be a heavier formula for some, but i enjoy the more luminous, glowy look. My makeup adheres pretty well to it too! I have already recommended this product to a couple friends :)
