I remember being at River Track Studio in Louisa, Ky when they were recording. Curly Ray had me in the floor. He was so funny. Thank you all for the wonderful memories and you to Otis.
I was there. Loved it.. naturally !
A fantastic piece of Bluegrass history thanks for posting it :)
Rest in peace Ernie
Yes I agree that this is the best !I I have always loved old Ralf Stanley
The Stanley brothers are the best that's ever played bluegrass music Rip Carter Ralph Stanley and Ernie Thacker IMO if Ernie hadn't had his accident he would've been a great bluegrass out there today
12:33 Ralph is so cool onstage he gets a rebel yell in England!
I was at this concert and it was amazing. To see a genuine American bluegrass band in the back of beyond in the Peak District was just mindblowing. They were so tight and powerful. And between sets, the band were sitting there at the back with their concession stall talking to everyone. I shook Dr Stanley's hand. I bought a Curly Ray Cline keyfob, and he said, "It's got my phone number on it," as if this was a deal clincher, and that I would now be able to phone him.
The downside was that I locked my keys inside my Austin Metro and had to wait hours for the recovery man to get to the campside. And I had a dreadful hangover...
Great!!!!! History Classic!!!!!
If that cut of “Old Richmond Prison” don’t give you chills .... you can’t get em.
the first song is the instrumental "Wildwood Flower" -A.P.Carter song
I was there too. I think the only surviving member of this band is Ralph II.
