I know a lot of you in the comments are fans of Berserk, or are at least talking about it. I know this anime doesn’t really have a lot to do with it, and I know I’m just kind of the meme guy who uploaded a video, but I’d like to use the bit of influence I have to say that the creator of Berserk, Kentaro Miura, passed away on the sixth of this month, as has been revealed around five hours ago. For those of us who loved him and his work; Rest In Peace. And thank you for the gifts you gave to the world.
I am completely devastated.. His work got me through so much of my life, and now he’s gone. Man for gods sake I wished these last three years have not been so brutal to us.. All I can say now, is I wish miura to rest in piece, and that his assistants may continue on his potential work in the near future.
I would've love to hear about his reaction to this scene 😢. Poor man never got to see a high quality, modern, adaptation of his work. Please buy the offical manga and support Miura's family
I love how the visor is gold. Astronaut visors have gold in them to filter out infrared light so they don't get burned. Striga's visor must work on similar principles. I love when there's a little science in my fantasy!

That's what I love about Castlevania in general, it's all viewed as science, "Magic is science we don't understand" is what this as seemed to be based on. Hell Dracula was the world's greatest scientist in this.
I like how Striga, despite winning, walks away from this realizing the task of holding the world is likely impossible. She had her day armor this time, but all it would take is one slip up, one oversight, and that would be the end of her. The end of her lover. The end of an empire. And when you live forever, the odds of eventually making a mistake become very high indeed...
Carmella expected the world to roll over and die as soon as the army of Styria marched in. Striga saw the reality that while humans would be no match for a vampire they would fight for every fucking inch.
It's not just that she'd eventually lose. The reality of being at war forever instead of getting to live her unlife is high price to pay. It genuinely looked like they had a pretty good thing going before Carmilla got called by Dracula. Losing that to have an unstable empire was a serious downgrade.

An army that could help her control the regions they had already conquered. But that task would be impossible if mere farmers could do this to their forces. Each region would immediately flip, and they would be running around like headless chickens to control them. The other solution would be Dracula's that would leave them starving. There was no way to win this.

For all of Striga's boasting, her arrogance could very well be her downfall. And if that's not what kills her, attrition would be had she not realised what she was getting her and her lover into. Yes they were just mere farmers, but untrained militia are mere cannon fodder at best. What happens when they come into contact with a professional army the likes the Ottoman's field? What happens when the Vatican has a true enemy to rally those of the faith to form a crusade against the vampires grow in strength? Even presuming they manage to actually get Hector to work day and night to make night creatures for them, humans aren't dumb; they'll adapt and create tactics to circumvent Carmilla's ability to gather corpses to raise new troops. Just like how Sparta fell from their greatest heights due to the rigidness of their doctrine while the Athenian's gave more leeway in creativity for new tactics, humans will adapt and learn. The war could be bloody, but in the end, Carmilla is at risk of losing everything

The fighting aspects? Can be replicated. Doing the characters and storylines well? If it’s an American company Hell to the fuck no. The can’t even adapt children’s books write.
I know Striga is badass, but let’s applaud those farmers! They willingly went into battle, afraid not of death but of failing to protect their loved ones, and went on anyway! Even Striga is impressed, to the point where she calls off the invasion! Those farmers unknowingly saved so many lives doing so, and from the perspective of their families, the men died in battle against the vampires, but also sent them running! Utter legends who deserve a medal for each grave I say! 1:32 Look at this dude! He panics but he doesn’t quit- He fathers himself for his loved ones back home anyway! And he dies grunting no, not in dismay over his death, but at the thought of his family dying afterwards! True selfless courage right there, and it’s interesting to explore the noble fear and despair of those kinds of people.

Yeah but Berserk is more than just visual. I’m not too fond of Western studios adapting Japanese media (Death Note via Netflix and Dragonball:Evolution to name 2)

I honestly don’t think they could do it justice. Being the studio they are I see them being unable to stop themselves from making changes to the overall story. Plus they would completely skip the end of the golden age arc and the reason behind Guts need for revenge. They could very likely animate it well but I don’t see them capable of telling the story with respect and not touching the narrative.
That whole equipment and scene were a literal love letter to Berserk The way she moved and attack was exactly like how Guts(in the Berserker armor)would

I'd say it would be a pretty close match. Thing is, Striga doesn't seem to have the same kind of superspeed that Alucard, Cho, or Carmilla does judging by where they become a literal blur of movement. Had she the same speed as those three, I would say she could probably beat Guts considering agile combatants give Guts a hard time (ie Serpico, Rosine from the Valley of Lost Children, the goat headed psuedoapostle). Going by this scene though, she seems roughly equal to Guts in the Berserker armor speed. Plus if they were fighting in the day, a cut to her armor from the Dragonslayer would allow sunlight to burn her. It would definitely be a vicious fight tho.
I actually think Guts is the superior warrior, he's used to fighting opponents many times stronger than him. Not to mention the vast array of tools at his disposal, as well as the fact that if he manages to crack her armor in day time she'd die from the sun lol
Guts would win cause in reality he just has to shatter the armor to some degree not to mention even taking away sunlight weakness guts it’s just built different and on another level than striga
We're all talking about beserk and how awesome Stirga is, but props to the humans learning to attack during daylight and using tactics to deal with the vampires.
Now imagine how long she'd "be a badass" if the humans she faced weren't just desperate malnourished and untrained farmers, but instead something akin to Legacy of Kain hunter armies?;) Five seconds? Maybe seven?:D

Striga herself points out the most impactful thing here: these farmers weren’t fighting for vengeance, or blood. These farmers weren’t fighting to save their own lives. When they died, the fear in their eyes was fear that they failed- and that is something that *hits* you when you think about it for a minute.

I love the design of Striga’s armor. Both fearsome and efficient. Also I love how her hair hangs out like it’s a decorative piece. Also that sword 🗡 is badass 😁😁
Neat touch was her golden visor. Probably based on how lenses of astronaut helmets/expensive sunglasses have gold in them to protect them from the sun's rays

Now, I don’t know about you, but if I saw an 8 foot tall vampire swinging a 9 foot tall sword with armour that looks like it was tailored by death itself, my first inclination would not be to charge head first towards them with nothing but a pitchfork, but that’s just me.
I mean fear can still be a thing for them, the first reflex is probably to stay in the place that is safe from the sun, and even if a few wanted to go they would be horrible outnumbered, but their leader saying it makes them all go which overrides it, but that is just my theory.
For more dumb it sounds, Vampires in their majority still people who got transformed, they arent absent of fear, they arent absent of being killed, normaly in a situation like this, with low numbers, a surprise attack, no leadership, they gonna be scared ;People oftem die for being scared inside the elevator who shuts down and the power come back during the time that the person is going out. But i have to admit, i feel bad for laughing imagining a vampire screaming ''WE GONNA DIE'' and tryng to run out and various vampires follow him like he knows what hes doing and a music begin ''Yep, thats me...''
Gold visor is a cool detail. Astronauts specifically use gold plated glass to protect them from solar radiation. Perfect for vampires! And it looks baller as fuck
It's still impressive how the humans almost got them. These weren't soldiers or warriors or an army, they were farmers, rallied townspeople that'd rather fight and die on their own terms than be herded like livestock. If they attacked at high-noon, when the sun was at the highest point in the sky, when they'd have nowhere to take shelter in the shade, and also probably when most of the vampires would've been asleep, they probably could've won. They got the drop on them as it was, one arrow was enough to pierce the tent and almost kill both of them. It got Striga scared, something we've never seen anything else do.
If they kept the war going, soon the vampires would be fucked by the human nations. Ottoman janissaries and cannons, HRE professional soldiers and knights, Poland hussars and skirmishers, etc. Carmilla's territory is literally encircled by a fuckton of kingdoms. Issac only accelerated the process, stopping the war escalation to a massive point. Dracula only could took all he did due to the massive, almost industrial production of demons, and even with Hector Carmilla wouldn't be able to produce a massive army of them, instead relying on these pathetic excuses for vampires that any dumbass can easily defeat. And even Dracula I suspect wouldn't be able to win if the humans were a little bit competent, holy church, mages, knights, cannons, etc, he was able to threat only Wallachia and even then he couldn't really conquer the backwards kingdom.

I LOVED this scene!! How often do you see a true female warrior going all out beast mode and it being this believable. Striga is not some waif-like child sized woman miraculously cutting through opponents many times her size. She’s an ABSOLUTE unit with the most guttural war cries ripping through everything in her path. More characters like her please!!!
This was honestly a very nice scene (as well as a testament to their ability to make a Berserk adaptation) but i think it would have been a lot better to have Strigga actually fight something skilled instead of just farmers. Although it did aid in her characterization as she wasn't particularly happy at the fact.
Well, the whole point was that she was unsatisfied fighting them. They were just farmers like you said. It's not meant to be a big epic battle between two powers. They're not even slightly challenging to her and are visibly afraid of her.
I am thoroughly convinced that striga is this world's version of guts. The way she casually wanders out into the battlefield, kills her enemies and then returns to morana pretty much saying "anyway what was I talking about" reminds me of guts for some reason

Castlevania had Konami and good writers and producers like adi and still not as good as other shows on story . Plus they had many people that work on anime helping like madhouse and two Korean studios. And now they have at least five other shows and sequels to do there no way they can do berserk justice especially how most western that do t like SA or graphic massacres it would literally be people whining like how Twitter did so mostly for time and that will cut those scenes .
2:22 I like how not all of the vampires have the same suit of armour. Either that's because the ones with hoods and masks on didn't put all of their armour on, or they're light infantry, as light as a vampire soldier can be anyways. I like the latter better as it makes the army more diverse, not to mention more proper.

To be honest, they were likely preparing to settle for the night. On top of the fact their conquests typically happen at night makes me think that they weren’t expecting what even the GENERALS OF THE INVASION didn’t notice was a sneak attack.
So this is what they mean, by nearly killing off the vampire blacksmith because he wanted melt down armour for shoes because this was their day armour and it’s very important to keep it

Striga herself points out the most impactful thing here: these farmers weren’t fighting for vengeance, or blood. These farmers weren’t fighting to save their own lives. When they died, the fear in their eyes was fear that they failed- and that is something that *hits* you when you think about it for a minute.

Yeah that was dumb. A lot of the plot and dialogue was childish. But the character designs and animation makes up for it.
Well, it was more of a morale cry. They COULD don their armour, but they were outnumbered and flanked on all sides before Stirga showed up.
For more dumb it sounds, Vampires in their majority still people who got transformed, they arent absent of fear, they arent absent of being killed, normaly in a situation like this, with low numbers, a surprise attack, no leadership, they gonna be scared ;People oftem die for being scared inside the elevator who shuts down and the power come back during the time that the person is going out.
But i have to admit, i feel bad for laughing imagining a vampire screaming ''WE GONNA DIE'' and tryng to run out and various vampires follow him like he knows what hes doing and a music begin ''Yep, thats me...''
God I love striga. She just looks so cool, even before she dons the armor. This scene skyrocketed her into top ten characters for me.
Gold visor is a cool detail. Astronauts specifically use gold plated glass to protect them from solar radiation. Perfect for vampires!

It's still impressive how the humans almost got them. These weren't soldiers or warriors or an army, they were farmers, rallied townspeople that'd rather fight and die on their own terms than be herded like livestock. If they attacked at high-noon, when the sun was at the highest point in the sky, when they'd have nowhere to take shelter in the shade, and also probably when most of the vampires would've been asleep, they probably could've won. They got the drop on them as it was, one arrow was enough to pierce the tent and almost kill both of them. It got Striga scared, something we've never seen anything else do.
If they kept the war going, soon the vampires would be fucked by the human nations. Ottoman janissaries and cannons, HRE professional soldiers and knights, Poland hussars and skirmishers, etc. Carmilla's territory is literally encircled by a fuckton of kingdoms.
Issac only accelerated the process, stopping the war escalation to a massive point. Dracula only could took all he did due to the massive, almost industrial production of demons, and even with Hector Carmilla wouldn't be able to produce a massive army of them, instead relying on these pathetic excuses for vampires that any dumbass can easily defeat. And even Dracula I suspect wouldn't be able to win if the humans were a little bit competent, holy church, mages, knights, cannons, etc, he was able to threat only Wallachia and even then he couldn't really conquer the backwards kingdom.

I LOVED this scene!! How often do you see a true female warrior going all out beast mode and it being this believable. Striga is not some waif-like child sized woman miraculously cutting through opponents many times her size.

This was honestly a very nice scene (as well as a testament to their ability to make a Berserk adaptation) but i think it would have been a lot better to have Strigga actually fight something skilled instead of just farmers. Although it did aid in her characterization as she wasn't particularly happy at the fact.
I totally expected her fighting one of the main characters at one point. But yeah... I'll have to settle for a slaughter not a fight.

I am thoroughly convinced that striga is this world's version of guts. The way she casually wanders out into the battlefield, kills her enemies and then returns to morana pretty much saying "anyway what was I talking about" reminds me of guts for some reason

Either that's because the ones with hoods and masks on didn't put all of their armour on, or they're light infantry, as light as a vampire soldier can be anyways. I like the latter better as it makes the army more diverse, not to mention more proper.

To be honest, they were likely preparing to settle for the night. On top of the fact their conquests typically happen at night makes me think that they weren’t expecting what even the GENERALS OF THE INVASION didn’t notice was a sneak attack.
