Here’s the thing. Teachers have the power. We’re too afraid to use it. Walk out across the nation and I bet they’ll change. Too much talk and no action
Teaching should NOT be a battle field. By the way that CALLING crap needs to go. It is just an excuse that administration, districts, school boards and politicians use to justify the current abuse of their teacher employees. Teaching is a profession that can be learned and improves with practice and training. Therefore it should be remunerated based on the amount of work teachers do. Taking care of yourself is really difficult when you are asked to do 20 things and given time for 10. And if you don't take the unpaid time out of your own family and personal time you get penalized for it by administration. So this video sounds very Zen but it's more of the same teachers should sacrifice for their students, Hollywood crapola that doesn't support the necessary changes in the system so that teachers are not in an career that feels more like an abusive relationship every year. 🧐
My teacher heart was hurt so much this school year like no other. The lack of the support when it was needed so much was really painful. I think I’m a bit crazy for wanting to start over at a new school in a new district. I love teaching; I’m not sure what I’d do if I were to leave it prior to motherhood. I’m believing in the best for this upcoming school year.
I wish I could have more balance and I still want to teach but smaller class size and belong to an academy that considers the success of the student as a whole. I also like tourism
Take a little inspiration from the UAW and WALK! Teachers from other countries are baffled that y’all continue to put up with all this jazz. I taught in Japan 20 years and can tell you there’s no reason on earth to maintain the status quo here. You’ll benefit, the children will benefit, and the nation will benefit. The administrators might have to adjust their pay a little bit though.
You don't quit your calling. This is why you need to know for certain if you are called to teach. This new trend of "teachers" quitting is simply people who used teaching as a job until they could get something else. They were not called to teach. They just called themselves for a minute, and then when something else came along that was financially better, they left teaching. That doesn't mean that they were supposed to be teachers. However, they now use "leaving teaching" as a badge of honor. Great video. New subscriber.
@@Dallas3212 That means you were never called to it. A calling pulls at you. You can't be called and leaving after less than two years, but you will know for sure in another two years whether you were truly called. When you get another "job," and you stay on it and you feel happy with it and even fulfilled, that will tell you that you were not called to teaching. The opposite will be true if you find that you are in that job, and you can't seem to find your purpose and joy for it, and you MISS TEACHING. You will know for certain that you were called for teaching. Regardless, believe what you want about yourself. You don't abandon your calling. You don't leave your calling. You likely got a job in teaching, and it didn't work out for whatever reason. Now you have left. Just own up to that truth.

Amazing logic. Take it out on the kids because the administration and government don't do enough. Makes sense.
@@Gioskywalker1 it’s babysitting. That’s it. Kids can learn anytime niw
@@Gioskywalker1if admin won’t punish them maybe leaving will is a motivation

Thank you so much for this video. I have to remember to prioritize and not try to just survive.

Teaching is nothing but an abusive relationship. Sticking around is for those that take punches & blame themselves.
How about saying i'm out. Geesh
I think I'd like to teach about life skills like finances and real world application
We need more trade schools and classes like wood shop and home ec. College isn’t for everyone and has become a scam

Lots of words nothing really said. Exactly what’s wrong with education.

Wrong. I'm called to it and I'm ready to leave after 1.5 years. You hear about good teachers leaving all the time. Called teachers are also leaving!!!

The notion that teaching is a “calling” is why the abuse of teachers is tolerated and even encouraged. It’s complete bullshit and needs to stop.
