Phyllis could charm and mesmerize anyone. She had an air of class, and sophistication. I think of her often, and remember the good times we shared. I pray she found the peace she sought, and can rest well. I miss you more with the passing of time. Your pal forever, Kenny.
Phyllis is dead no peace no war no nothing. So let's treasure what she left behind. She in my opinion was the best female singer ever, and her music will shine always. Hakuna Muhimu
Lindas palavras referida a essa belíssima cantora. Sinto um pouquinho de inveja sua em ter compartilhado momentos com ela. Adoraria ter conhecido ela. Amo *You Know How To Love Me*,. Que costumo também ouvir na voz da doce Lisa Steinfiels. As duas são muito parecidas!.
Who still listen to this great song in 2023 this is one of my favorites from Phyllis Hyman and she have some of the greatest songs of all times it can be a hundred years later and her music will still have that great sound like it was just yesterday that song was recorded Rest in God's 🤲 queen
Phyllis Hyman was breathtaking, talented, hilarious, and truly underrated. She was built like a brickhouse. I mean that in a beautiful way. You forget how tall she was. She was about 6'1 and stunning to look at.
She has a beautiful, smooth sultry voice. She has got a beautiful way about her. She seemed like she was beautiful inside and out. So sorry she did not find more happiness.
Mental Illness makes that hard. Especially when it leads to certain habits. She suffered from Bipolar Depression which later on in her Career led to substance, drug, and food addiction. She went through a lot because of this.
I think for certain female stars that won’t give in to the extra curricular activities of the industry, it causes tremendous problems for them. Leading to the onset of certain maladies. I’ve always believed she fit that mold.
I wish she was still living and someone had found a way to love her back. She is one of the greatest voices forever and always. What a beautiful Queen 💜
Phyllis, Again tomorrow brings the day you decided to transition. 26 years ago my heart was broken. You left so many memories behind, along with a trove of beautiful music. I miss you more now than ever. I pray you reached a higher plane of truth, and peace. Rest well pretty lady. Kenny.
Hey Kenny, I’ve seen a few of your comments on Phyllis videos etc. I just wanted to know what was she really like? Did you date Phyllis? We all miss her more than ever and to me she’ll always the most beautiful woman who ever lived.
She wanted to do 40s style music but should have done more contemporary music. Often record producers know by your voice where you’re best served. Example, Lee Greenwood , originally a rock n roller , he was directed to country music where he thrived . But if you saw him in concert , he’d played xylophones, sax, and keyboards and guitar . He would throw in some jazz , his first love. Listen on UA-cam to Lee playing sax on silver saxophone. Even Mariah Carey admitted later than her producer Tommy Mottola was right making her a big ballad singer so as to grow with your audience as they age too.
Phyllis didn't know how beautiful she was. I always thought she was sexy looking. I noticed a lot of beautiful women, especially in the music industry have low self esteem. Phyllis looks better on here than most of these sisters look today..natural beauty.
A lot of the Ladies back then we're very Natural that's why these Fake women Today in the Music Industry can't hold a candle to these ladies of yesterday. No comparison No competition
She did know how Beautiful she was, her Bipolar disorder is what kept her Depressed. Her self-esteem was very high and she was very confident, but Mental Issue takes over and there's nothing you can do about it on the bad days.
My father loved this beautiful, talented, perfection of a woman. He played her songs constantly. And now they are both in heaven together. I hope she's singing to him and they are both happy❤🥹 Rip Daddy and Ms Phyllis Hyman
Phyllis, It's so hard to believe that 27 years have passed since you left. Your memory will never dim. Know you are loved forever. Rest peacefully my pretty friend. Kenny.
She was so beautiful! She didn’t see her beauty because of her insecurity. She wanted to be loved and appreciated. Instead, she was abandoned and rejected.
I HAVE TO AGREE THAT PHYLLIS HYMAN IS BEAUTIFUL AND THE MOST TALENTED SINGER AND PERSON I HAVE EVER HEARD. THE MIKE DOUGLAS SHOW CAPTURED PNYLLIS HYMAN'S TALENT AS A PERSON I WOULD FALL IN LOVE WITH BECAUSE OF THE KIND OF PERSON SHE IS. ALSO HER BEAUTIFUL VOICE. HER SONG THAT I LOVE "YOU KNOW HOW TO LOVE ME". 1980 I WAS 30 AND NOW OF COURSE I AM 68 WITH M.S. I WISH COULD STILL DANCE THAT SONG IS THE BEST
Medicine has come a long way. I'm a NP 68 with MS wow. Life expectancy with MS used to be much lower 20 yrs ago. God bless you! The singer Tamia is living well with it. I have a chronic illness as well and it takes life style changes but I wish a great quality of life as well !
Her voice is everything. I could feel every bit of emotion behind the words she sang...you can tell she knew love, but also pain as well. She had so much vocal range and control....gorgeous woman.
Loved her so much. I went to a Phillis Hyman concert back in the day, all by myself. She was one of my favorite artists at the time. I went out and bought my ticket, didn’t care anything about having someone to go with me, I just had to see her and if that meant going alone, then that was okay and I’m not sorry that I did. RIP Ms. Hyman.
You know, I feel the exact same way! Glen Jones, Phyllis and the Whispers were to perform at the Beacon Theatre in New York City and I had to go. I went by myself, arriving late, missed Glen Jones, whose single Show Me was on the charts, and in the Middle of Phyllis performing, to which she closed with You Know How To Love Me, and that began my love affair with her, and that particular song. Whenever I hear this play, on my mobile phone, the radio, wherever, it brings me back to the Beacon, and how very fortunate that I saw her live in concert. I miss her terribly!
I lost my mom suddenly some years ago, but prior to her death, she took me to a Phyllis concert in Detroit at the FOX Theater. I was a teen and one of her friends canceled at the last so I went with her reluctantly...... I had no idea how important that time with her would be to me very soon dealing with the loss I would soon face. "Living all Alone", Living in Confusion" has pulled me through some really tough times. I just wish Phyllis didn't have to suffer as much as she did in this "Physical Plane" of existence. Like my mom, she was an enigma. Irreplaceable, incomparable, the epitome of love.
She was so beautiful but you can see she had an addiction problem looking back. I wish she'd had a different life. My brother was engaged to her first cousin. I hope she's resting in peace. Such a lovely person.
The Michael Douglas Show was on my grandmother’s TV regularly! lol ...I looove Phyllis Hyman. I was heartbroken when she transitioned. Last words: Thank you for sharing your gift, Angel!
My wife introduced me to the music of Phyllis Hyman in 1998 and I’m still so grateful to her. Phyllis Hyman is awesome. Her songs always seem to come from a deep place within her. I only wish she could have found what her soul truly desired.
So sad that she left so soon. She had the most beautiful voice ever. She was a true beauty and natural soul. So sad she was depressed and nobody there to help her thru this. I love your music Phyllis. RIP beautiful Lady!
If it was women like phyllis hyman today it would be a lot more class and talent with a clean thought of letting the world know that you don't have to go from negitive to garbage like today ....but the music like back then it was messages that meant for the world to listen and follow and pour your hearts out to what she was really speaking about ....there has to be 220 people today out of this youth that hardly don't know who phyllis hyman is......you never to young to know about this classic icon!!!!
I really like Mike Douglas. A shame his prediction of Phyllis did not come true, she was an exceptional talent. Seeing her perform at the Beacon Theatre in New York City is something I will never forget as she closed with You Know How To Love Me, so seeing her perform this classic is the reason why I will always love her, and miss this terribly talented woman.

AS much as I have followed Phyllis, this is the first time I came across this video. During my time living in NJ/NY area, I would go to each and every Phyllis concert I could. Saw her in Sophisticated ladies twice. I was a Phyllis "addict". While I do miss her live performances, I enjoy her catalog of music that she left for us. I also pay tribute to her in my Ballads by Lamont performances...there are 3 songs that are in my range that I love to do. 1) Somewhere in My Lifetime 2) Old Friend 3) Here's That Rainy Day. She could of easily been a model. Just a class act.
She actually was a model before a singer and an actress and a legal bookeeper/secretary her multitalents is/was limitless!!!
Facts, She was very beautiful and talented.
She was a model and she posed in a few adult magazines. They were very classy and tasteful.
Phyllis Hyman was breathtaking, talented, hilarious, and truly underrated. She was built like a brickhouse. I mean that in a beautiful way. You forget how tall she was. She was about 6'1 and stunning to look at.
I just told somebody she was the embodiment of "Brick House".

I wish she was still living and someone had found a way to love her back. She is one of the greatest voices forever and always. What a beautiful Queen 💜

Big up to Mike Douglas for showcasing so many artists who probably wouldn't have been heard of otherwise.
She had one of the baddest vocal ranges.
