After a long absence, Cory is back in the fish room, giving lessons on how to deal with algae. When travel and sickness interfere with life, tanks that are not balanced will slowly get algae growth. Cory has also been testing some tissue culture plants and planted tank LED lights. Stay tuned to watch him start throwing around some Easy Plant LEDs!

What I like about tissue cultures is that you actually get more individual plants for your money. I also often propagate them from one or perhaps 2 pots before using them in an aquarium. I've got a few tubs and a few smaller plastic containers sitting at the sout-west facing window. They get light all day!

Cory I loved your light commercial/demo. Next time I'm in the market for an aquarium light, I'm buying one from the Co-op.
I am about 75% happy with my current lite fixture, I wish it would dim down to zero % light that would help it and the remote has several color options but it's still basically Red, Green, Blue and some yellows, off white to white. Perset percentages 25, 50, 75 and 100. Which is bright. I do like the day setting that starts off dim and turns brighter throughout the day and dims again. I think it's a 10hr cycle. But the evening dim doesn't last long enough then it goes back to morning light. It really needs a built-in timer to turn it off and back on again the next day. But it only costed$65 on ebay 3yrs ago so I can't complain to much.

Hey I finally ordered plants from aquarium co up the first time. Couple of crypts. In the past I had ordered plants from other places because they were a couple bucks cheaper. But there is no comparison these plants from aquarium co op are easily the most high quality plants I’ve ordered. Best bang for you buck because of how full and healthy the plants and roots are. Will only be ordering plants from aquarium co op from now on. Also got an easy flow filter and love it. Love your company and your channel and your mission.

I see you have lights in the front of the large tank. It reminds me of back in the day when I worked at my local shop. I took a floor model 4 foot strip light and put it across the front of our 155 bow front shop tank that used three double bulb 2 foot strips that sat mid tank behind the hinge. I flipped the light on and was blown away by the difference it made with the tank. The owner noticed one day and wasn't thrilled because he didn't think it was worth the power cost. I said to him that "I very much believe this is worth leaving. It makes the fish you've decided to sell stand out much more and I've already sold two lights for this exact purpose. Allow me to demonstrate my sales pitch..." I then flipped the switch on that light off and he simply said 'carry on'. Particularly on those very large bow front tanks, they look so dull and lifeless with the lighting so far back.

He offered to sell me that tank so incredibly cheaply when he was moving to a new location. I really really wish I had been able to take him up on that offer. It was a gorgeous tank and would have been perfect if he included the crushed coral substrate and rocks. I was really big into African cichlids and that tank was set up perfectly for it.

14:05 just throw a thin layer of pond soil beneath the gravel when you setup the tank. Instant nutrient level and a bag doesn't cost a fortune like aquasoil does. Aquasoil is essentially just regular soil formed into small balls so ... also, you can keep your gravel look. If you are concerned about cloudy water, then add a layer of sand inbetween: Pond soil / sand / gravel.

❤Roofing sealing such as Loctite PL 3 or 8, a polyurethane sealant is stronger than the foam, foam is more for blocking areas, not holding rocks. Pl 8 dries 8 times faster, it’s better for vertical sealing/glueing, you just hold for a couple minutes and the rock will stay. Pl-3 is cheaper but it’s better for horizontal adhesive as it takes longer otherwise you will have to use straps. It is completely fish safe. Built a pond with cinderblocks so learned real quick. Look it up, but keep this in the back of your mind when needed. ❤

Wow that's a crazy good light there. Nice product. I'm watching this video waiting for the Ziss brine shrimp hatchery and brine shrimp eggs I ordered from you to show up today. thanks for getting that order out so fast. I bought a hygger 4 ft. full spectrum light a year ago and had the same thing happen one day. I haven't thrown it against a wall yet or anything like that but it did slip out of my hand one day and the whole thing fell into the water and i reached into the tank and pulled it out. It never stopped working because it's a sealed light. i watch all of your videos and subscribed to your channel quite a while back. I've learned a lot by watching your videos. Great work. have a great day.

I always love your videos. I NEED informati1on so you always deliver that. I do appreciate your hard work and time. The attitude you have and your presentation always makes me feel like I shouldn't give up on this endeavor even though the path is not always an easy fix at times. If I lived near your store I'd be dropping in often; I do order from your site though!
My only UGH! with algae is that it kills or horribly discolors my plants.I do have half of my tanks that have finally balanced after about 2 1/2 years. I think it may have been tinkering with light and just not giving up and I kept adding plants for the ones that died that did it. Finally I can experience enjoying my tanks and I have more faith I can overcome issues with the ones that are struggling. The plan now is to have plants that grow enough in the "good" tanks to add to the "bad" tanks so I don't have to spend so much on plants that might just die.
Anyway thought I'd mention to anyone in San Francisco or general Bay Area..I have 7 unexpected juvenile Foerschi wild bettas that need homes. They are beautiful and endangered in the wild. They have different needs from domestic bettas but they are hardy and eating anything I feed them. I have a pair in a 10 gallon tank. They can live in a specie community tank if there is enough space. I can help you out with their specific needs if you need information. I'm only interested in getting them good homes. I'll just check out the comments if anyone is interested. Thanks.

My aquaneat light & a outlet timer cost me $21 total, and it has grown my plant just fine for 6+ years now. So it hard to stomach 5x price unless i plan on going scuba diving or playing baseball with the lightbar. But if you add the lifetime warranty then it make sense on the price difference.

Wanted to throw my light as well, but realized it was a Fluval 3.0 😂😂 Definitely replacing the rest of my tanks with the coop lights. It is so annoying that the Fluval lights go on after a power glitch. The app doesn’t help if you are not home. Big headache if you have a planted tank with CO2.
