I have a question no one has answered. You can do the magnet test on 999 silver (the slow slide down the coin), even silver dollars in 90%.
You can do the magnet test on 999 gold, but you can't do the magnet test on pre-33 gold or Krugerrands, as there is no attraction at all. Not sure why the magnet can be used to test 90% silver, but not on 90% gold or Krugerrands.
Have you tried this, or have read why it won't test this way?

Hi, I came across a 1853 half dime while I was opening a roll of dimes I brought off someone site on ebay. Its toned very well but has full detail, has arrows in front and back of the date. Gotta be worth something.
