      It amazes me too. That people will buy a car that is very unreliable with a very high chance of theft, when they could for about half the price buy a competitor's vehicle. I know the Range Rover will be the nicer car to drive, but is it twice as good as the competition??

    Great video showing the enormous depreciation the JLR products have faced due to various issues.I don’t see anything getting better with JLR, would still avoid even if the prices have tanked. Insurance is still an ongoing issue and there’s no guarantee that will change anytime soon.

    Owned a Land Rover a few years back, it was the worst car I ever owned. It had to go back to the dealership on a monthly basis for warranty issues, the last straw was when it broke down on me in France and was without it for 10 days. Once it had been repaired and I got back to the UK it was gone, I would never ever buy another one.

    I had just about worked out the 'man maths' to replace our 2016 D4 with a brand new Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 which were about £93K basic in 2019 if I remember correctly. Then they came out with the new model, put the price way over £100K and I just didn't like the way they looked, and I went totally went off them. In my opinion the last shape was still very smart and probably the pinnacle in RR design. Did they need to change it? I don't think so. And the price increase? So I will keep our 2016 D4 and pay the LR monthly warranty, it's ULEZ exempt and I still love it to bits👍. I payed £47K new back in 2016 which was quite a big chunk for me and now there is nothing in LR range I would swap it for.

    Having had a Discovery 4, I would love another Land Rover car - but I got rid of mine after 18 months due to unresolved problems, so I won't be buying another until they pick up on the reliability issues! 😢

    • @scottyfive4319

      I have had several Land Rovers since 2004 when I bought my Discovery 2. It was a 1998 one of the first demonstrators, when it ran it was brilliant great car. I had 3 issues with it all expensive for that time. I have also had 3 defenders they were much more reliable than the discovery and cheaper and much easier to fix, except the rust issues, these were no too bad on the 110 but had to replace the chassis on the 90 , but got most of my money back when I sold it after 4 years. I now have an L322 apart from the window wiper motor/control module I have only had ware and tare issues which since it had done 68K miles when I acquired it and now on 92K had needed quite a lot. I also tow with it 50% of the time, a 27ft 2 ton caravan and a 2.5 ton trailer with comp car on. So after 4 years of ownership I can say the L322 has been the most reliable. It was a 90K car new so it have 90K car parts costs and running costs, most folks think that an old "90K" car acquired for 15K at 8 - 10 years old will be cheap to run it is not.

    Whether you're thinking of buying, or thinking of selling a JLR product, I'd just do nothing for now and wait to see what happens over the next couple or three months. A spokesman for JLR has responded to a letter from Challenge The Road channel, stating that they're reintroducing their own insurance and arranging recalls to beef up security. It's worth giving that a chance at least.

    JLR may have killed their brand. Terrible reliability, parts availability and service levels, but most of all they just do not care about their customers. In particular they have left many of their customers stranded with the problematic SD4 2.0 engines! Their s!strategy seems to be let’s build new cars and leave our history behind us….but it has now caught up with them. It will take at least a decade for them to course correct!

    Thats great content and some very good advice. When it comes to JLR they just have their priorities wrong. They seem to prioritise bringing out new models and pricy upgrades of existing ones over concentrating on the reliability and spares supply. Its not a new problem although matters have seriously esculated in the last 18 Months. There is no excuse acceptable for how clients are being treated. There is no doubt JLR make some very desirable models that have been over priced and hopefully the market is now teaching them a belated lesson.
    One has to feel sorry for people like yourself who have been so badly let down. Lets hope management get a grip and restore faith in what they make and represent the once great name LANDROVER even if JLR dont want to call them that.

I cannot wait until the finance is in a position that I can give it back to them. You should consider buying a very clean L322. It has key entry and starting, very comfortable and harder to nick unlike the newer models. Also in my opinion the last Range Rover that looks like a Land Rover. Everything after the L322 looks rounded and more like a large sports car rather than a Land Rover. I still drive a P38 every day that I've owned for 12 years now and couldn't ever part with it. Super comfortable, Simple to maintain yourself, and with preventative maintenance extremely reliable. The old Land Rovers are far superior to the new ones, but that's just my opinion. Good luck in your search for your next LR or something else 👍 Enjoying your Channel 👍

    It's not just JLR products it's across the board on vehicles. Dealers overheads are huge now and they need to buy in cars at rock bottom prices and sell them at top dollar money just to cover their costs and make a profit, that prices are dropping on car's on forecourts is irrelevant because the price of your trade in vehicle drops the same so customers don't gain anything.

    Yes great research, thanks. This is mere market reflecting the angst of buyers now dealing with new electronics and maybe the prices should fall another 50%. While robot assembly is better the electronics complexity is near ridiculous where e.g. the new Discovery auto shuts down when doors are opened too often during Ign Off. This is a normal camping overnight sequence but your Off-Road vehicle won't start after a while. There's no easy reset for owners so tow to dealer. Any warranty issues owners find themselves on an India call centre -> Tata now owns J-RR and likely doing the best quality control ever but you can buy Mahindra for a fraction of price and get the same dealer experience. I ask what is a J-RR really? It's very cool looks wrapped in frustration

My current X3 LCI I took delivery on 03/22 & traded in a 03/19 21K mileage same spec car ( just changed the colour ). They gave a great trade-in deal..........................so great, and I kid you not, all I had to lay out was £63, YES £63 ( which I paid using my Debit Card!! and just sat back and waited for the factory-ordered car to turn up, which was 3 months.) It was such a good deal I treated myself to a set of brand-new mats. In fact what it boiled down to was they gave me £3K more for my 21-plate car than I paid for it, plus they lobbed a massive chunk on the table as a discount off the new car. The finance payment stayed the same. Overall I was well pleased.

    I’m going to buy an INEOS Grenadier. Yes, some early releases have had a few teething issues, but as a totally new car manufacturer, they have done very well. Well worth looking into Dr, especially as you are selling your Defender.

      Dr, if the INEOS Grenadier is a tad too utilitarian for you, I highly recommend waiting to see what the new 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser is like.

    I love the price tracker but let’s look at it from the poor dealers point of view the cost of a dealer package for 100 cars is 10k a month plus vat so it’s the dealers that are making autotrader there millions I personally think this information shouldn’t be on view

    • @bradgate
      @bradgate 6 місяців тому

      @@thedoctorsgarage it’s very clever indeed but I wonder what the autotrader will do about it as it’s effecting the dealers that make the company.The autotrader should be buying the system off the maker and shutting it down in my opinion if they let it run I can see a lot of dealers pulling the plug with autotrader.As you said in the video the amount of buyers that will be using this for further discounts will be really making the job harder for the sellers.

    • @hmallett
      @hmallett 6 місяців тому

      @@thedoctorsgarageI believe that the extension gets the price history by sending them the price when you view a car. Then they’re building up a database of prices, which they can then display back to any user of the extension.
      I’m sure dealers won’t like it, but it’s the same as if you viewed the adverts yourself, and wrote down the prices.

      90 a day from London alone. Manchester isn’t far behind. Are we to believe those figures though, because assuming only 10 a day from Manchester to make a nice round figure, that’s over 3000 Range Rovers a month being stolen from a relatively small area of the UK. I call bullshit on that. I mean, over just four months that would add up to 12,000 Range Rovers stolen. Have you any idea of the scale of that compared to annual sales across the UK, never mind just London? It is beyond credulity. Where the heck do they all end up? Even if they were broken for parts, this would be a massive industrial project that would rival many major industries in scale.
