Firstly she does 13 the sweater is still a circle though so to make it a square to fit our somewhat of a square torso lol she counts from a certain point 45 stitches in between after closing off her spiral which represent the four corners of her sweater. Now she explains after she closes off her circle that if you’d like to continue the spiral you may keeping the same pattern so instead of ending at 13 keep going until 14 or 15. I think doing this will help in getting the sweater to be wider. But because I was lazy I stopped at 13 with the spiral section. Now when she started marking her corners you’ll slowly see the spiral grow into a rectangular panel, her panel doesn’t need to be that big because she is on the smaller side to me personally. But as you can see after she blocks her panel she adds more rows to achieve a baggier fit so that’s what I’ve decided to do to just keep adding more rows to the square portion rather than the spiral. This is my first time making this so I will post an update on how it came out. You can follow my ig and I’ll post it there when I’m done. I will make an updated comment to tell you what I learned after making it on my larger body. But I hope my explanation helped and if you have any questions I’ll be more than happy to answer. I did mine without blocking (since I don’t own blocking mats 😵💫) and it totally worked out well without blocking! I used 100% acrylic yarn so it’s very soft and didn’t need blocking that badly and it turned out really cute!

work wise, the total days i was working on it was a week and a half. sewing it all together is going to be the longest and hardest part because it has to be very secure.
(If y’all know how to do it)Instead of doing a chain 3 and turn for the sleeves you can do a stacked single crochet and crochet over the cut ends of the yarn so that you don’t have to weave in any ends and you have no side bulk. 👍
Thank you for the great pattern! To avoid the "holes" in the corners I did 6 trembles and three each in the center 2 sts on the following rows. Also, since I can't stand weaving in ends and since I was intrigued by the spiral concept, I did the sleeves top down in spirals. Turned out great.
FYI unless you missed a stitch you should absolutely have a total divisible by 4 before the square part, since every round has a multiple of 12 stitches in total, which is also divisible by 4. :-D math is cool
@@cupcake-td2zk that was my concern in making this but it doesn't seem like the finishing off messes with the total number of stitches, should definitely still be divisible by four after finishing the spiral
I LOVE THIS PATTERN SO MUCHH!!! I made it in brown and red and I wear it whenever it’s cold enough (the struggles of living in Australia lol) it took me a second to get the start, but once I did, I really got the hang of it! I'd love to try this. Although all those ends for the sleeves I'm thinking of doing two rows of single crochets for each colour and just picking up the next colour at the end of the second row each time so that way there are no ends to weave in 💜

Great tutorial!! I modified this slightly to use 3 colors, and for the sleeves I did 2 rows of single crochet per color so I could carry the yarn up the side instead of cutting and weaving in all those ends. It turned out great :)

I just finished spirals, starting to work them to squares and I used one of each colour, and i have still a bit left. So I assume its goint to be about 4 yarns in total.

I don’t have any blocking mats either. I just use a steamer while it’s hanging on a hanger and it works perfectly!
I block on my pin board using pins
i pin my projects to my walls with thumb tacks, after soaking them in warm water/steaming them. gravity helps sometimes

I just finished spirals, starting to work them to squares and I used one of each colour, and i have still a bit left. So I assume its goint to be about 4 yarns in total.

A little tip for anyone making this! Because the main spiral increases by a multiple of 12 each round, it will always be divisible by 4 :)
