Well, I’d add that KB and many of us being minorities is an important element. It’s not just about building CHH. It’s about building the minority community who depend on CHH for voice, career and community. Lets not forget that CHH was once the voice of street Christians and the more mainstream it gets, the more disenfranchised those who depend on it become.
I get it....but I dont... this is the Gospel were talking about. Did he need to join another label give Jesus more limelight? No. The Word of God is so powerful, it doesnt need any platform that man can offer.
My thoughts on this: Lecrae already knew KB was leaving. That's why imo, KB never released a full album after Today We Rebel. It's possible that KB learned how to navigate mainstream spaces from Lecrae's failures, etc. I also think KB is the reason Reach began expanding to include non Reach artists in the 116 fam. Their Summer playlist is the CHH equivalent of an XXL list. I think KB saw the new talent Reach had and said they will be ok without me and decided to leave. If you pay attention, KB was always building his own brand through Reach and so is Andy, and probably in 2-5 years, Andy will be focused on M.L. I feel like nobody gives lecrae props for the leader he's become. He's willing to let people be themselves, and let them go when it's time. Reach is building now for the future, because the original Reach members are older and Lecrae knows he's gonna transition into a mentor role eventually so he's putting the Reach fan base on to artists we may not have otherwise listened to. I really appreciate KB and all he's done for Reach and CHH in general and I hope he can take CHH to an even higher level

I definitely believe CHH should spread itself. It’s so constricted, and almost everyone shares the same fans. It’s like the genre is not growing at all. We need more power within CHH to allow growth within the sphere. Without the growth, eventually CHH may collapse. Many of the pillars that helped create the genre would not be able to survive. Yes, I know many may not agree that it should not be about money. WHICH IT IS NOT! It’s the simple fact that all this stuff COSTS MONEY. Everything costs money: the shows, the merchandise, the studio, the platforms to post on, the engineers, the editing, the music videos. Every little thing that the audience takes for granted is costly. Even the simple stuff. I totally agree with KB. 🖤
You're right, it's not about the money - but in the Bible Luke 10:2, 7 and 1 Timothy 5:18 make it clear that you can't ignore or act as if the money is evil in the process. You're right, all of those things and efforts involved do cost. We can't act like talking about the money in the process makes it less spiritual. Let the laborers get paid!

A huge problem with the marketing of chh is that we are all marketing to the same fans. I know so many friends who can rap every lyric when I play a song from Jon Keith, aha gazelle, or lecrae in the car but they would never find these songs on their own because they don’t subscribe to the chh genre. The solution is just like KB said, we need to rebuild the middle class to the chh genre. With more music and promotion for different audiences, it will be much easier to expand.
Facts- I love his passion. There is a time to leave and grow and share the Gospel. Beautiful. Ruslan don't stop. Spread out and make more labels. Open more doors, more critiques, more collabs!

he's so well spoken yet his music sounds so full of energy. it's an amazing balance but I gotta be real, I didnt expect his speaking voice to sound like that.
My man wanted to say a little bit more however KB you spoke on it perfect... I have witnessed a lack of unity for the right reasons and only unity for gaining purposes for years now. I have no doubt including myself if we all did everything for God's glory that this genre of music and the ministry would reach masses that we can't imagine as well as support all of our families in ways most are not. Wow! Although I create what would be considered CHH, I’ve never really been a huge follower of it & often feel like an outsider in the genre even though I’m recognized as a pioneer by many. KB is just a great artist regarding being Christian or not but the fact that he is, its a major plus. Been a fan since weight and glory and can really understand why he needed to leave Reach. Reach gave him a start and push and he "Reached" to the fans but now needs to reach the masses. I first was shocked but understand and rooting for you brother.

here is the truth, there's tons of artist that are doing numbers and making money who aren't in the cool guy circles. think joey vantes, tobe, nic d. all indie. all popping. all christian. NONE gotta co sign from reach or lecrae or andy or kb on their come up. and IMO could all become bigger then them.
chh isn't a meritocracy. but if you're dope and have ur business in order (meaning something to monetize besides just music) the fans will find you and crown you chief of a tribe.

KB dropped some gems! I’ve been telling this to people about CHH for years when it comes to the different media/promo outlets that have disappeared. There is one major media outlet telling consumers of CHH that what they promote is what should be consumed. There’s no diversity in CHH because of that.
What outlets were they using previously?
Travis Stase I meant that there were more CHH media outlets overall for artists to interact/promote with. Now it’s just Rapzilla and a few others.

It sounds to me it’s the same thing lecrae was doing. Lecrae knew he wasn’t going to reach more people thru being on his own label, so he makes a deal with Columbia so he could reach more collabs, labels, have connections, all for him to be reaching more people, and yes he wants to present the gospel. People go ballistic. kB signs to Sony and his reason is to reach more people, spread the gospel, get connected with more artists and labels. It’s kinda frustrating to hear they both explained the same thing and CHH fans are totally cool with KB doing this, but With crae they started burning his music in bon fires and sent him nasty messages...also it sounds like KB to break it all down and get passed the insert words and dancing around. Is KB felt lecrae was the only one person that got focused on, and was looked at, and he felt less noticed. So he decided to leave to get more recognition and as that happens he can reach more people for the gospel. I totally understand what he’s doing and it’s a good thing but maaaaan it pisses me off so much to see how hypocritical Christian culture is. Crae talked about black lives matter, social injustice, stones got thrown KB creates a podcast that lately has been talking about just that. Everybody celebrates him. So abnoxious this culture is.

Its the way he went about doin it though.. Saying "hes not a Christian rapper"(which btw I have no big issue on), the way he botched interviews at times.. Even Lecrae admitted his approach couldve been better. It came off as him wanting to distance himself from what made him who he was.. But that wasnt the case at all. I dont think the backlash wouldve been as strong if he approached certain situations differently.

CHH definitely needs to reach more people but the reality of the situation is this...
Our message in our music is not the same as the message in the songs you hear on the charts today. So for that very reason, there are going to be alot of people who already won't understand or want to accept it.
Calling it CHH in one way kinda isolates it because it's implying its only for Christians as opposed to just being (clean) hip hop music. And hip hop is already a niche genre, now CHH makes it even more niche.
We must spread our wings as much as possible but the masses generally like filthy music loool, we've all been told "sex sells" and that's why almost every rap song you hear makes reference to something sexual (even when its completely irrelevant, they just throw it in).
Anyways, i personally don't like some of the funny comments I'm seeing about Lecrae. If KB decided to leave Reach then good for him. Stop trying to shade Lecrae or make it seem like there's some beef. Ya'll love to come for Crae lol, not today.
I hear u, i think what you said is 100% true 5-10 years ago but the world is so much broader now a days. hip hop is pop music. and there's millions of people who love God and love hip hop that would be open to something like chh if marketed correctly.
So what do u call it?? JESUS rap? Or just denounce the title of Christian all together?? Being a Christian isolates u from the world period. Ur supposed to be doing it to glorify God, and he'll bring u the ears to hear so they can be moved towards the Lord. But if u conform just for more ppl to listen, u lose.

"Christian UA-camrs" sound like only Christians can watch them. These are very niche categories so in one sense, one might say since these isolate more it may be just better to have a "rapper" instead of "Christian rapper" or "UA-camr" instead of "Christian UA-camr". Do you get me?? Lol I'm not necessarily suggesting we change it but its just another way to look at it since we're having this discussion about REACHING a wider audience.
My church is predominantly African but my pastor hates when we say its an "African church" because we exclude other backgrounds.

It's not to convert ppl to Christianity nor will it have any effect on a depraved mind. Everybody doesn't have the Spirit so u not saying Christian won't reach more ppl. As soon as they hear Jesus, they'll turn u off. Which is why more chh artist are bending over backwards not to say His name. Thank God for the Jesus is King album because chh is really terrible right now with the acception of a few unknowns.
