I love how Luffy's appearance immediately changes the scene. We view One Piece from Luffy's eyes. That's why it looks so cheery and vibrant even if it's depressing. But whenever it's a flashback that's not Luffy's, the colors used aren't as bright. Sure that could just be tone but it also shows how terrible the world is from a rational person's view. But when Luffy appears, he brings you to his world. That's why the sky lit up in his presence. And why in the Fan Letter, when he says Set Sail, the girl's eyes widen like she's being sucked in again and she sees Nami.
Another thing that I noticed is that how the girl sees the Strawhats upside-down. So instead of going to the bottom of the ocean, for the girl, the strawhats are rising up like a dawn for the world

I don't know why people equate being darker = more realistic. One Piece is extremely realistic as far as animes go. 1. Poverty and orphans like Ace and Luffy who have to fend for themselves in a world that can't care for them. 2. A caste system that Oda isn't shy to expand and detail from racism to slavery to human experiments and grape. 3. Patricide, War, Revolutions, Coups, etc 4. After watching the fan letter, I might get motivated again to pick up where I left off. Man, I really can't wait for WIT's adaptation with updated animation and better pacing of the early arcs...
The pacing in the first 100 episodes was some of the best because it adapted around 2-3 chapters per episode. This was partly due to the manga's first saga being around 100 chapters long, so it's not just an anime thing-early on, the manga also had some pacing issues. For example, Romance Dawn spans 3 episodes but only covers 7 chapters in the manga, and Orange Town is around 7-9 episodes while covering 14 chapters in the manga.

@@jayv3n_n I don’t think you do, there’s nothing about this that conflicts with the main story and nothing has officially said it’s non cannon so why is it just automatically non cannon? The broly movie wasn’t made from a manga yet that’s cannon to dbs so what’s your hang up?
let's get this straight, non-canon materials doesnt necessarily conflicts with canon ones. its a misconception that fillers are that way. it can be well written like the G8 arc the novel is written by a different person. not oda. this anime adaptation is loosely based on said novel. a lot of the characters in fan letter adaptation arent even on the novel and a lot of the settings has changed to fit a cohesive story for 20+ mins run time again if its not clicking yet, this adaptation isnt 1:1 to the novel, said novel isnt written by oda himself, therefore this is a filler content. it will only be canon if oda used the events and/or characters on either novel or adaptation or both, to the main story. which doesnt happen yet. or at least, he talked about it being canon to give you a sample of a non-canon that turns into canon, look at uta from film red. she later on appeared as a silhouette in a manga chapter confirming her canon status as part of the main story. another sample is ryuma and the monsters one shot. this ones super obvious no explanation needed final point, i see a lot of people claiming oda approved fan letter anime so it must be canon, i think you guys mistaken it to be the status of the novel. the novel is definitely "official" but still a separate media detached from the main story. i still yet to see anyone give proof that oda does confirm the novel or this adaptation as canon like how he confirmed monsters or uta to be officially linked to the main story. if there is, i stand to be corrected
@@harouin9263 Thank you for helping to clarify my point. Ultimately, if it’s not manga canon or if Oda hasn’t confirmed it as canon, then it isn’t considered canon. At most, it could be regarded as anime canon.
The animation in this episode seems to be much more fluid, and I will always prefer this over overused auras and explosions. But yeah, Egghead has pretty good animation, I just don't like the direction.
One thing that bothered me is the crunchyroll translation downplayed some stuff. A good example is the brother saying he doesn’t like his brother. It ought to be translated as “hate”.
Good comparison, everything is pretty accurate -only issue i have is the marineford timeline. Its clear that that scene was after ace had been rescued because it was already shown that the big brother witnessed ace and luffy break free, emerging from the flames, and that was one of the big reasons why he was even inspired to save his lil bro in the first place.- Overall good video. Edit: nevermind it seems I mis interpreted the chain of events and that the scene fighting at the base of the execution tower was a flash forward of that moment not a flash back.
No, he saves his bro when Luffy first tries to save Ace and then the war happen, and the bros are fighting in the war until Luffy saves Ace. You can even see the bridge that Garp destroyed in the middle of the war montage AFTER he saves his brother.
@@Amar_Indo007 I always thought that was a flashback of before that moment. Since he seemed to suffer a pretty bad injury on his leg but during that moment he seemed to be moving fine. Everything moved so fast during that part lol.
@@Amar_Indo007 ah I see, I mistook the later scenes as a flashback rather than a flashforward of that moment. I never realized when he got the "be smarter" line it was immediately followed by a descending shade, implying that was the moment he got smashed by Oar's foot. He's also missing his sling in that later montage, so that too.
I liked fishman island, i read it ongoing and it was very fun to see their new powers and skills. I dont understand peoples problems with Hody, he embodies the "im just using the conflict to get clout" grifter behavior, plus Fisher Tiger was cool. That Sanji thing is pretty cringe tho and im not even talking about the blood thing, he literally told Jimbei to kys which was so jarring and out of character and people prefer to just forget it happened (me too). Not one of my favorite arcs by a long shot but im currently in Wano and boy oh boy i cant wait for it end already, so i guess im biased

it is non-manga canon so therefore it is not canon. I don't think you guys know the meaning of cannon.
@@jayv3n_n I don’t think you do, there’s nothing about this that conflicts with the main story and nothing has officially said it’s non cannon so why is it just automatically non cannon? The broly movie wasn’t made from a manga yet that’s cannon to dbs so what’s your hang up?
@@jayv3n_n The author decided which one is canon and not, oda approved this, so 💁🏼♀️
let's get this straight, non-canon materials doesnt necessarily conflicts with canon ones. its a misconception that fillers are that way. it can be well written like the G8 arc
the novel is written by a different person. not oda. this anime adaptation is loosely based on said novel. a lot of the characters in fan letter adaptation arent even on the novel and a lot of the settings has changed to fit a cohesive story for 20+ mins run time
again if its not clicking yet, this adaptation isnt 1:1 to the novel, said novel isnt written by oda himself, therefore this is a filler content. it will only be canon if oda used the events and/or characters on either novel or adaptation or both, to the main story. which doesnt happen yet. or at least, he talked about it being canon
to give you a sample of a non-canon that turns into canon, look at uta from film red. she later on appeared as a silhouette in a manga chapter confirming her canon status as part of the main story. another sample is ryuma and the monsters one shot. this ones super obvious no explanation needed
final point, i see a lot of people claiming oda approved fan letter anime so it must be canon, i think you guys mistaken it to be the status of the novel. the novel is definitely "official" but still a separate media detached from the main story. i still yet to see anyone give proof that oda does confirm the novel or this adaptation as canon like how he confirmed monsters or uta to be officially linked to the main story. if there is, i stand to be corrected
@@harouin9263 Thank you for helping to clarify my point. Ultimately, if it’s not manga canon or if Oda hasn’t confirmed it as canon, then it isn’t considered canon. At most, it could be regarded as anime canon.
FAN LETTERに合わせて、魚人島編もちょいちょい変えんのかな

Para mi X Drake no fue una muerte y creo que sí tendrá mas importancia porque es el jefe de Sword
I wish its not just one episode 😞
More Robin
this isn't a comparison
Ive watched fan letter anyone else?
how many episode are there in fan letter?
700th like💪
Omg this is so cool
for those not on egghead that is the animation
The animation in this episode seems to be much more fluid, and I will always prefer this over overused auras and explosions. But yeah, Egghead has pretty good animation, I just don't like the direction.
😆🤩
One thing that bothered me is the crunchyroll translation downplayed some stuff. A good example is the brother saying he doesn’t like his brother. It ought to be translated as “hate”.
Old better
Old absolutely not better
Good comparison, everything is pretty accurate -only issue i have is the marineford timeline. Its clear that that scene was after ace had been rescued because it was already shown that the big brother witnessed ace and luffy break free, emerging from the flames, and that was one of the big reasons why he was even inspired to save his lil bro in the first place.-
Overall good video.
In saobody arc nami hands is down, in fans letter she rise it
@@Amar_Indo007 I always thought that was a flashback of before that moment.

What’s funny about this is immediately afterwards we get one of the worst arcs ever
Fisher Tiger is pretty well written tho. But the anime really sucks, as they extended fight toooooooo long. Hope the remake would fix that.
remaster
Maybe being in the one piece world is not so fun anymore
I still think the previous animation style was better.
Maybe a bit "floaty", but it's pretty darn smooth and works equally well for gag and action scenes.
The difference in the number of frames is staggering 😁
Thanks....
One piece is great, Oda is the GOAT. Ace is just stupid.
