    Saying homosexuality _didn't exist_ in the WWI period is not really correct; it did exist - it has existed for millennia - but it was considered a sin/abomination/freak thing/etc., so *it was kept hush-hush* - for fear or retribution.
    I knew I should have gone watch Wonder Woman during its theatrical release. Now I have to wait for the dvd....and it's gonna be a too long wait. xD

      LucienSabre Agreed!
      Homosexuality has existed since biblical times as documented.
      Wonder Woman was amazing and ranks alongside the awesome Man of Steel but just barely below the epic BVS {Ultimate Edition}.
      .

    • @LucienSabre
      @LucienSabre 7 років тому +12

      +bobhu simem Exactly.
      For example Alexander the Great had a whole unit - one of sthe strongest - in his army entirely composed of couples of homosexual lovers, because he thought that aspect would give the soldiers and extra edge and make them never lose a battle; it's a documented fact.
      Based on the clips and trailers (and being a woman, feminism is kinda in my genes :p), Wonder Woman looks better than Man of Steel and Batman vs Superman put together.

      They wanted JL. Snyder needed an MoS 2, to bring Kal_El closer towards becoming Superman. Instead, he still had to do Kal's insecurity of "why should i give 2 f***s about this world?" Only to state to Lois "you are my world". Well... at least he did find smth to fight to the death for. Not a Superman yet, though. They journey would take longer. Maybe a bit too much, but i think he really becomes THE Superman at the end of JL 3, where he fights for the whole world. In JL 1 he fought for his family and his team. The "higher purpose" is still escaping him.

    You know what would have been a good front image on the the Suicide Squad dvd format?! A face cam picture of Deadshot, holding two beretta m9 guns in a cross pose near his face while wearing a mask. But apart from some swear words, the movie was so kid friendly that it’s not even funny. Would have appreciated if they at least had added the Deadpool blood style effect when Deadshot shot his bounty target. Btw, Deathstroke and Deadpool are very similar with their names, Wade Wilson and Slade Wilson and also both of them can use their swords to deflect bullets, and both of them are very hard to kill.

    The musical crossover betwixt The Flash and Supergirl is probably my favourite episode ever. Barring the alternate version of Joe being effeminate (who, thankfully, was never shown kissing another man, and which was anachronistic to the 1940's time period where it looked like Barry's dream world was set in), Duet was a strong Flashpoint for the series, especially with the nods to classic musicals, Kara and Barry singing Super Friend, and Barry singing to Iris and then proposing.

    To be fair, Luthor finding out about Clark is not that surprising since Lois found out about it like 2 minute.
    Speaking of Lois, she is the one who understood that Lex was manipulating Both Bruce and Clark. When Clark said the "SAVE MARTHA" , contrary to what people thought, Bruce actually got mad that's why he screamed "WHY DID YOU SAID THAT NAME?" , He would've killed Clark, so Lois coming in to answer to Bruce actually saved Superman. Yes Lois Lane saved Superman.

    The fact that this “critic” loves the Flash tv show tells you everything you need to about his critical thinking skills.
    Then he states WW is better than 80% of the Marvel movies which clearly indicates his bias since it’s actually only better than a handful of them at best.
    He is right about one thing though. Warner studio’s “infectious” meddling is ruining the DC brand of films.

    I think its too early to say that Wonder Woman saved the DCEU because its so far removed from the main timeline literally Justice League and Aquaman need to get good reviews for the DC films to be course corrected although i am surprised that John Berg admitted that Suicide Squad was a mess narrative wise but yet he still allowed David Ayer to direct Gotham City Sirens

    • @luminaorchis4376
      @luminaorchis4376 7 років тому +1

      tomwood555 LOL!
      Wonder Woman never "needed" to save the DCEU. All the previous films have made more than 3X their production budgets at the box office and each of them rank all-time top-sellers in home video (outselling Captain America: Civil War- the "best" of the MCU- in the process). Suicide Squad (the "worst" of the franchise) made more without a China release than Doctor Strange made with a China release.
      The DCEU is out-of-the-gate and running!!!

    • @tomwood555
      @tomwood555 7 років тому +2

      If BVS box office was enough for the studios to be happy with the DCEU then why did they re shuffle the executives on the DC films order reshoots on SS and everyone involved in JL promising it will be lighter in tone . I know BVS made allot of money but when you consider that the the last 2 solo Batman films both made over a billion it underpeformed. What i meant was is that the Wonder Woman story is essentially a flashback that doesnt affect the current DC stories so the quality of that film isn't going to carry over on to the other films because its missing the creative team and its a totally different time setting I personally wont consider Star Wars course corrected until i see Ep8 because while i had major problems with Ep7 i LOVED Rogue One which is a prequel
      As a fan of movies i only care about the actual quality of the films the box office for me is an indicator how the movie overall is being received

    But being a box office success is the most important part for a movie company. It made over $800 million. At the end of the day that's what its all about. Peoples have different opinions. Some like it, some don't. I actually see Batman v Superman as a success for WB. The gave a sneak peak at Wonder Woman. Then she had her own movie, It did very well. Eric Carter I feel like in the video you've undersold a lot of the things that in my opinion as someone who loves bvs made it great for me. The complex narrative told at a steady pace made the dense story understandable and followable and I appreciated that, the story being told was extremely satisfying if you simply followed it.the glum attitude of the characters I felt matched the material and the situation the characters were thrust into. And I personally had no problem with lex Luther, and It's kind of insulting to say they were trying to copy the Nolan films When they were clearly going for their own lane of realism of thrusting these all powerful characters on different levels i.e. Batman and superman and putting them in real world situations. As for the message You've completely undersold the message from bvs which was far more cerebral than we and interwoven in the narrative of how perspective can lead different people down paths of darkness and how the world reacts to a messiah figure. However there were some completely unneeded scenes especially all the nightmare ones.

    If your confused by his motivation, his ultimate goal is not to just kill superman but also to tarnish his reputation, but he doesn't actually hate superman, he hates that superman has power that he can never have. Lex luthor at his core is someone who wants power but doesn't have it, which makes him the perfect opposition to superman, someone who has power but doesn't want it.
    Doomsday wasn't a deep character by any stretch, but he did his job. Lex wanted him to kill superman and that's what he did, but it didn't go perfectly for lex because superman's sacrifice restored humanity's faith in him, which is not what lex wanted.
    The biggest problem with the villains in wonder woman is that they're completely forgettable, which is bad for any movie antagonist. You can say whatever you want about lex and doomsday but they are not forgettable.

      True. And to be fair, Epicurus's Problem of Evil was smth that i enjoyed a lot, especially in BvS.and i think it is smth not many ppl get. Superman is not portrayed by Snyder as a Jesus figure because it was his own idea. Superman got portrayed as such in the comics long before he made his movies. But probably this hint, of him not being seen as a Man, but rather as a Diety, stuck with him. And i find it interesting. I watched the original Superman movies. The first one bored me to death. Not because of performance, although the acting did not seem all that convincing, but becase of the execution. Superman finds the Fortress of Solitude(or makes it, don't remember), sees a recording of his biological father explaining to him what's what, and the next scene he literally morphs into the suit and starts his Superman career. He cares for ppl, for pets, for everyone, and makes it his goal to convince everyone that he is genuine about it. Well, sure, he is. Because he is Superman. He is MADE to be perfect. But... i don't like a Superman that is perfect. I want a Superman that shows me HOW he became a Superman through his struggles. Moral struggles. If i had superpowers, would i consider saving ppl? Maybe. But why? Because they are ppl i associate with? Or because of a moral idea of those with power should help others without? Pretty sure our mentality does not work that way. Why? Because "power corrupts. And absolute power CAN corrupt absolutely." There's a reason why ppl in charge of governments should not stay in their positions for too long. Ppl tend to get drunk with power, some faster than others. But that is superficial power. Kal-El has REAL power. And he can get away with everything if he wanted to. Till kryptonite was found, there was really nothing that could hurt or stop him. Yet he showed compassion, although at times wondered why should he do it. He did not trust humans, certainly a part of him thinks they are not worth saving. He does love his mother though, and Lois. Through them he learns the beauty that could be in humans. Another thing i liked about MoS was Clark's father. It shows how flawed he is, that he is not that perfect moral code. He literally told him he should have left those kids drown and just protect himself, protect his identity. As a father, i'd probably prioritize my kid over others. Idk, i really don't want to think about this. So i felt more connected with a flawed Jonathan than a perfect God parent. After all, that was how Superman got to be so perfect, because of his education by the Kents, not because of his DNA. His morality was superior to ours. It just never showed why. So if God is omnipotent, He cannot be all good. And if God is all good, He cannot be Omnipotent. And Lex had a real issue with God due to his childhood.

      I did have some issues with BvS tbh. I disagree with this video somewhat, maybe the execution was lacking, but the philosophical idea behind it, Epicurus's nature of God, together with how ppl were sometimes seeing Superman as... i really loved it. Basically, Epicurus was challenging his peers to rethink God's nature, as more of a Force, totally uncaring for Man's suffering, and the movie does that, through Lex, saying "If God is All Powerful, He cannot be All Good. And if He is All Good, then He cannot be All Powerful." while also contemplating humanity's attempt at understanding him and his goals through "power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely" by John Dalberg-Acton, another favorite quote of mine. It really puts much of humanity's fear and paranoia on display, against yet another character that struggles to do good, but does not really know why he should. This Superman was still not Superman. He was still Kal-El.
      One major issue i also had with Lois. Her role in the movie was... from meh to bad. It's like she was meant to save Superman from Batman, BE saved by Superman, and then make him realize she is his world and why he fights, and dies. So she had to be there for these reasons. But that's what the other characters needed her to be at, while her reasons for being there were really poor and simply plot-driven.
      Ppl say Snyder's Superman is just a kryptonian Batman, while Batman is a killer Batman. I only see a Batman that was once also in the comics and did not fear the blood, and i see a kryptonian that is searching for his purpose in this world and is slowly getting there.

      @@ramankurdi-w3e yup. He no longer is THE Batman. But even THAT Batman had a journey in becoming this icon. His original version was pretty brutal. This incarnation is a Batman that is ridden with guilt and anger. He drinks himself to sleep and sees his way of doing things, of protecting, of saving, as flawed. Criminals always get back to being criminals, and Dick suffered the consequences. In some stories, the villains actually confront the heroes by telling them "a hero needs a villain" to justify their existence. Sort of like Batman needs a Joker, Superman a Lex and so on. But this Joker made it personal. And this Batman lost his way. Now, because of Superman, he admits he went literally batshit crazy and wants to make things right again. But yeah... some ppl dislike this idea so... to each his own. The execution could had been better, perhaps. For both heroes. Cavill did not stand up to me as a Superman much. His Gerald role was much better imo. But i think... he was also still learning. He wasn't bad. Zod however was really the star there.

      @ragael1024 2 роки тому

      Oh... one thing, though: the Lex Luthor impersonation did not convince me. It was smth different, true. But i did not find him as what it should be. There are animated version of him that are far worse, tbh. But typically he is very smart, and very self centered. He hates Superman because he craves power. He calls him "a cheat" because his powers were not made, they were simply there. His muscles not the result of pure physical training, but of genetics. And he wants to destroy him because he does not view him as worthy of being a Super "man", man - human. But his flaw comes from his twisted morality. Not his broken psyche. That fits other characters, other villains. Also, Jesse Eisenberg is playing pretty much the same role every time. Always a bit socially awkward. His feud with Superman, being actually a devil and not a God, that part is cool. His personality, his schizophrenic act... that for me was not cool. My fav Lex was the one in Smallville. He was shown how he suffered due to his father, how he got blamed for his brother's death, how he was seen as a failure. That tends to build up over the years. His arc was convincing. He was mostly calm, brilliant, menacing. Did not like Gene Hackman's Lex in Superman either. He felt cheap. A villain that was constantly smiling and trying to be funny. He wasn't.

    I thought that Lois was good in that movie. The thing with the spear was a little off, but I didn't actually notice it until maybe my 4th watch. She slowly uncovers Lex's plan throughout the movie, but by the time she figures it out, it's too late, and it just contributes to the tragic ending. And with "strong woman," she could've been a LOT worse. And Lex Luthor, even in the comics he was a madman. In this, he was more unhinged than his comic book counterpart, and became even more so as he was consumed with his desire to kill Superman. Perhaps for comic fans, or those who wanted a cold, calculating villain, he could be a little jarring, but I thought that he fit quite well. His plan is very intricate; he sets up plan A and B, and even hints that plan A was actually a plan B. With the secret identities, I'd be surprised if he didn't know that Clark Kent was Superman, because Clark Kent is Superman with glasses. He doesn't hide it like Reeves's did, or like in the comics. With Batman's identity, he could've been working on that one for a lot longer than 2 years. He's clearly obsessed with meta-humans, and someone doing what Batman does could be a candidate. As Lex dug, he would've discovered that he was a pathetic billionaire. And just look at how much he knows about the other JS members, some of whom were more reclusive than Batman/Bruce.

    Hey man, I appreciate the time it took to make this video; clearly much effort was expended.
    However now must come the inevitable and pedantic pointing out of where your analysis of Dawn of Justice falls short and how that interferes with your thesis. Not your opinions or feelings mind you; nothing external can alter those. I am talking about observational errors that, in all fairness, are not errors that you alone have made. I'll try to go as much in order as I can:
    Firstly, and unfortunately right off the bean, you make two observations about Lex Luthor that are countered by information in the film. Firstly, your observation about the timeline he gives is gravely off. Your statement is that he claims two years while the film takes place, "just over a year" after the end of Man of Steel. What you may have missed, or just failed to mention, is that the finding of the Kryptonite in the Indian Ocean takes place 18 months after MoS ends. Later in the film, when Bruce is revealing his intentions to Alfred, he mentions that the Kryptontie had , "turned up in the Indian Ocean three months ago". (ua-cam.com/video/EcG2fNYJgH0/v-deo.html) This pushes the time line to at least 21 months, give or take. This makes Lex's claim of a two year period to be more or less correct if we allow him to round that number up to the closest year. More than that; I don't think anyone would consider 18 months to be, "just over a year".
    Next you point out, as many have, that Lex has found out the identities of our protagonists/ antagonists off screen. This is absolutely correct. However it is not done without some manner of information to back it up and it's one that is constantly pointed out yet no one seems to take for what it is. And it's incredibly simple. Lex found out Clark and Bruce's identities the same way he found Barry, Diana, Arthur and Victors; by accessing multiple pieces of video and photographic evidence from private companies, military drones, ATM and convenience store security cameras. If he was able to dig deep enough to not only discover who Diana is but to actually have a century old glass plate photograph stolen from her is it so difficult to believe that he has the intent and wherewithal to find Batman and Superman's identities as well? Doesn't seem like a stretch to me. Now why they are not in the file, as much as we saw, I don't know. That I cannot account for. But the files existence and the fact that he was able to amass that information speaks volumes to his capabilities to me.
    Next a base factual error. You attribute the screenplay to David S. Goyer, likely in an attempt to point out the script was bad because Goyer is a bad writer. However Goyer is only credited with the story. The screen play was written by Chris Terrio, who won the Oscar for Best Screenplay for Ben Afflecks Argo. As just a little tid bit of data, the film was edited by David Brenner, who won an Oscar for the Tom Cruise film Born on the 4th of July. Just an FYI.
    And just a nit pick; how can something be one note and inconsistent? Being of only a single note would be the very definition of consistency, would it not?
    Next two more factual observations, these having to do with your section on Lois Lane. Many commenters have touched on how silly or stupid it would be for Lois to dump the Kryptonite spear underwater but this seems to neglect two points. Firstly, she's just trying to get rid of the thing that almost killed Superman. Secondly, and most importantly but less immediately known, i that water has the ability to block high frequency radiation. Putting the Kryptontie in the water was a way of further protecting Superman from it's effects.
    Now the reason she knew to go back to get it is because, even in the clip you posted from the scene, the abilities whatever was out there was using and she already knew it had come from the Kryptonian scout ship. She was the one that pointed out to Batman and Superman that the ship was drawing power from the city and that Lex had to be involved. (ua-cam.com/video/Oufremzw7d8/v-deo.htmlm48s) So having a pretty good idea that whatever was being faced was Kryptonian in nature she understood that the Kryptonite would be needed to stop it; just as Batman and Superman did, which is wy they both came back. I think the only reason people thought the first part of her adventure with the spear was strange was because the second part happened at all. Either way it's minor observational errors on the part of the viewers that made that confusing. Understandable and forgivable, but I feel it should be pointed out. As far her being, "pointlessly written into situations" she spends the majority of her screen time away from the rest of the film. The reason she shows up at the end is because she is the only one of those characters who actually knows the whole story about what's happening. At some point it made sense to have her share this information with the other two. Aside from that she isn't exactly just popping up everywhere. She and Clark live together and work together. She shows up at the Capital building because she was already in Washington D.C. doing her own thing. Superman comes to her later because she's his person. Lex kidnaps her to get to Superman, again. And she shows up at the end for the reasons I mentioned. She has no interaction with Batman or Wonder Woman and only comes upon Lex when he nabs her. So claiming that she has been shoehorned all over the film for no reason is just a spurious claim.
    Look, I know that this is all unnecessary bits of pointing out trivial little things that don't, and shouldn't, change your emotional reaction to the film. However they do establish a pattern that I have seen over and over again; and that's a lack of attention to detail that seems to give birth to criticisms and questions that one should be able to resolve by watching the movie. It begins to beg the question; how many of these minor over sights in details should be allowed before one starts to question the overall observations and interpretations being made? If critiques are made of the storytelling, and the storytelling is made up of the details, how many details can someone miss before the storytelling loses coherence? And how does that effect ones ability to correctly interpret the film as a whole?
    In my opinion Wonder Woman is not a better film; it's an easier film. I'm not saying this because I think that's a bad thing but there is a danger in equating easy with better when it comes to an examination of a complex piece of work like a film.
    Wonder Woman is also a more easily likable film and I think that's the key here. Dawn of Justice is a harder film to come to terms with. it's more of a challenge on a number of levels and I completely understand why many would choose not to take on that challenge. For those that have, and I am one, we have found a film with a great amount of depth and intelligence. There is a cleverness and subtlety to the storytelling that reveals itself. As I said, it's more challenging, and if people wan't easier there is nothing wrong with that.
    But like Jim Jeffries says, "I think we can all do better."
    Thanks again for the video!

    For god's sake mate, in Batman vs. Superman it's ALEXANDER Luthor, NOT LEX, it's supposed too be his son! Other than that, spot on!

      I know EXACTLY how smart Lex Luthor is. And NONE of the stories in the previous movies, TV shows or the comics would have him figure out the identity of Batman and Superman off-screen.
      The fact that he knows in Batman Vs Superman is just a clear example of bad storytelling.

    To be honest I prefer Agents of shield to the flash since now in my opinion the flash is going down in quality and agents of shield just get better by each season and I even love season 1 and 2 but that’s my opinion Eric great video 😀

    I love Batman vs Super Man & Wonder Wonder Movie
    for me
    Wonder woman definitely Wins
    Batman vs Super Man have a better Action Battle , I love Batman fighting combat more than Super man , sad B vs S movie story bad I think the movie creator never take time to done everything very well i'm pretty sure they are rushing to make Batman vs Super Man movie + they don't take no time to make the story perfectly , the movie still fun to watch
