I would say that 99% of people don't practice like this. The way he practiced is the way he played. He was just screwing around with this rehearsal. Close to perfection in my humble opinion. The kid from Minnesota rarely dissappointed us on that live stage.
Love this song! That 1999 period, Prince was in a zone. I always wondered how this song, especially with the musical arrangement, came out of his mind. It's one of his most original songs.
@@artelmiller7942 Beautiful! When I heard Soft & Wet at 8, I knew he was special. Met him face-to-face once and saw him several times. He was one-of-a-kind - as you shared.
Dude your absolutely right I’m 27 and I started listening after he passed and god I wish I had known about him before he passed.. I tell everybody about his music dude I also tell them he was one of the Greatest Guitar Players in the world
Prince was the only person I knew, who wrote songs for others, that were hits. But when he performed that same song, he did it better than the artist he wrote it for!! 😂😂My dude. I saw him on the 1999 tour. I saw him before the Rain. His evolution was like no other. He has 3rd musicians that are his musical descendants. Check it. From The Time came Morris Day, Jesse Johnson and Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis. Then Jam & Lewis were fired by Prince, for working with outside artists. But this firing turned into a blessing because, the world was introduced to the SOS Band, as well as the one and only Janet Jackson. Jam & Lewis worked with many others, but I can't name them all here. There will not be another like The Purple One. God bless.
Thanks for reposting! Don't understand why this always is taken down. Two request: When we're dancing close and slow 84 rehearsal and Get Blue (slower speed version)
Because he's a musician's musician, as many as he performed it probably. He is the Minneapolis Genius, an impressario miles beyond the other guys and gals. Was he perfect? No. Was he a musical genius? Oh, yes.
Unadulterated brilliance........sounds purple if you could hear a color........70 point basketball game while carrying a guitar.......pancakes bitches.....lmao
I got this off of napster decades ago and it is still my favorite track from him.
Someone who creates a song like that, can't be from this planet...🙏
ahhhh the fact he turned it into a guitar burner is so insane 😭😭😭😭
This should have been the studio version
Prince was right,
there was something in the water they drank.
💯

Perfectly stated. He was definitely in a zone, in this era.
I think it & many mo, during 1999/PURPLE RAIN, were BLUEZ wit purple on, 4 DENISE MATTHEWS/VANITY.
Agreed 1000%.
There's nothing better than this song being performed live ! I love Prince's voice and his guitar solos !
The one thing that brings me peace about Prince's death is this: now the world knows his genius. So many people finally get it!
He told me he's good. 😁
👁️ recognized his genius when 👁️first saw the 1999 video..

Love these raw rehearsal sessions and their freedom. A special prince track. The mood, the chords the development away from controversy material.
