This truly made me cry. Prince wore his heart on his sleeve on stage. He lived, breathed and slept his craft. This recording will evoke powerful emotions not just in Princes's most ardent fans but musicians alike like myself. As a jazz/soul singer Prince has been a constant inspiration. He cared about his audience and the man was laid bare I think through his music. This is/was Prince Rogers Nelson. Romantic, visionary, deep, thoughtful, showman, and totally connected to life and love and of his craft and spirituality. He was love.
Let's take a step back and ponder. How could any human being be this good on the piano and simultaneously, be as good or better on the guitar? And, if that's not enough, be damn near as good on the bass, on the drums, and on other instruments? No one could humanly practice that much! Which proves beyond any shadow of doubt, Prince was a gifted gift God gave to the world.

We were late but 1st there was no pot smell wafting but Prince was playing Do me baby on a grand, every person there was in his pocket like no other performer. A few years later I saw the first 2 shows of the Lovesexy tour in Minneapolis, not only was he peeking in popularity, he was musically as well and his beloved hometown. Like Miles Davis said "there's no such thing as a 'bad' note - it all depends on whatever note you play NEXT after it" . I think Prince clearly understood this as well, as his playing is so fluid and if something unexpected happens he explores it ... weaves it along into whatever he's playing

Words can’t express how much I needed to hear this today. Thank you. There are so many influences showing in this work. I hear everything from hints of Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto #2 to Burt Bacharach, Paul Williams (no, I don’t mean John Williams), Georges Bizet’s Carmen, Marvin Hamlisch, Bruce Hornsby, Jerry Goldsmith, George Gershwin...the list goes on and on. All seemlessly put together. Perfection. God, I miss him.
This entire rehearsal is beautiful beyond compare, but I have never made it to the last note of Moonbeam Levels (13:38) without shedding a tear. The second verse is just . . . 💜
Thank you thank you for sharing this gem. I sat back closed my eyes and imagined Prince's expressions as he would have played the piano. You made my life with this unbelievable rare treat. I hope young people or anyone who discovers Prince's music are encouraged to learn to play an instrument! I play the piano and violin. Xo
I would love to hear much more of him just playing the piano. It’s beautiful and I could listen to this all day. Such a brilliant human being and terribly painful to know I will never get to new material from him again.
Music that transports you to places you've been before; EMOTIONAL. Music that transports you to places you've never seen before; HOPEFUL Music he lived, told in every song Music Prince gifted, touched so many souls.
I cannot thank you enough for this vid, and also the people that put this music out. I've been hoping for an album of solo piano by Prince for so long; this is the closest we'll ever get. It brings me sadness and joy in equal amounts.
The Computer Blue Solo was what drawn me into Prince...useless to say when I heard father’s song I was blown away. That melody is still what reminds me of the love I have for this man, even if I did not share the same enthusiasm for other moments of his career.
For Prince to be what he actually was, a Da Vinci-like genius, a colourful wizard who could play his magic on so many paths, he had to be extraordinary in twenty different things (dancing, composing, engineering, playing dozens of instruments, creating coreographies and all the details of his fabulous on/offstage persona...) and I love it this way. But have you ever thought about Prince dedicating all his talents, 24/7 to ONE thing? He might have reached an unconceivable level of greatness. I prefer Prince being what he was, but sometimes I wonder about this...
He might have even been a better pianist than a guitarist and that’s saying something because he blew pretty much everyone out of the water on guitar. Just to hear Moonbeam Levels here is fantastic. Especially seeing as it wouldn’t see an official release until decades later.
prince is amazing but not even close to the greatest pianist on earth. and no, he isn't better at piano than guitar. some of these comments come from a place of love but they are steeped ignorance -- a lacking knowledge of music in a broader sense.
I love Prince and agree he is awesome - and I don't mean to diss you - but I play a little piano and the truth is he isn't the greatest pianist ever. The competition would be Liszt, Rachmaninov, Glenn Gould, Oscar Peterson, Martha Agerich - the list goes on. Modern session musicians like Greg Phillinganes might show him a thing or two. But Prince has his own style and, most importantly, we love to hear him play. And none of those guys could play drums, guitar or slap bass as far as I know.
No words can describe how much I enjoyed listening to this tonight after running across it by accident. after a long, long week. Thank you for posting.

All seemlessly put together.
Perfection.
God, I miss him.
i read somewhere he practiced Rachmaninoff’s pieces allot
@@slyleggs4344 where did you read this? Could you tell me if you remember?
This entire rehearsal is beautiful beyond compare, but I have never made it to the last note of Moonbeam Levels (13:38) without shedding a tear. The second verse is just . . . 💜
Just like this shows how masterful he is on the piano, his song "Solo" showcases the full extent of his voice.
MAGNIFIQUE, MAGIQUE, UNIQUE, FABULEUX ET TROP GÉNIAL.. WHAOU PRINCE ROGER NELSON...EMPEROR OF ALL MUSICS...HAVE SAY STEVIE WONDER
He makes me cry, so beautiful.
He's just an Angel, pure light. He fills my heart 💜 Thank you for posting this.
I'm speechless makes me miss him all over again totally heartbroken 💔 don't think I'll ever recover such a talent still crying purple tears ☔ 😢 💜 🕊
Mozart level genius
Thank you thank you for sharing this gem. I sat back closed my eyes and imagined Prince's expressions as he would have played the piano. You made my life with this unbelievable rare treat. I hope young people or anyone who discovers Prince's music are encouraged to learn to play an instrument! I play the piano and violin. Xo
1984, To think So much MORE music came after this. Yet this engulfs it all. Thank you Skip🙏🏾
I would love to hear much more of him just playing the piano. It’s beautiful and I could listen to this all day. Such a brilliant human being and terribly painful to know I will never get to new material from him again.
He was an angel in disguise
Send to us for a short time and called back to the heavens above
What 15 idiots disliked this video?!?!? They clearly have no concept of the pure genius of Prince, and why his music will FOREVER be played!
Music that transports you to places you've been before; EMOTIONAL.
Music that transports you to places you've never seen before; HOPEFUL
Music he lived, told in every song
Music Prince gifted, touched so many souls.
So entertaining. It's shame we can't see it live. RIP Prince. The world really miss you.
My sweet Prince, how you are missed and even more, how you are loved...by the world and my someone far less significant...me.
Amen
With a lump in my throat - words fail me. ...Miss him
I cannot thank you enough for this vid, and also the people that put this music out. I've been hoping for an album of solo piano by Prince for so long; this is the closest we'll ever get. It brings me sadness and joy in equal amounts.
Brought tears to my eyes ...beautiful... thanks for posting, he accomplished so much in his lifetime
The Computer Blue Solo was what drawn me into Prince...useless to say when I heard father’s song I was blown away. That melody is still what reminds me of the love I have for this man, even if I did not share the same enthusiasm for other moments of his career.
Breathtaking
What a spring of the talent and the imagination !!!!!
No one would be gonna touch him forever
Sixteen minutes of speechless...
Simply Magical....is
💜💜💜
From the inside out..Indeed, he is music. I enjoyed every moment. I love the way that he fills in every space so perfectly.
EPIC.
So beautiful 💜love u Prince.
A MASTERPIECE!!!!
A SYMPHONY OF SOUND , MAGIC AND HARMONY !!!!
Real talent.
I didn't know music before Prince. 🙏
He was a Gemini.
Real Prince fans chill kick back relax have a sip close your eyes and enjoy
I write this with tears in my eyes..n goosebumps on my skin....
Intended 2 make u feel a set of emotions as only he can...
He might have even been a better pianist than a guitarist and that’s saying something because he blew pretty much everyone out of the water on guitar.
Just to hear Moonbeam Levels here is fantastic. Especially seeing as it wouldn’t see an official release until decades later.
He was very gifted all around he was given the gifts of music 🎶
If I could chose only one abilitiy gifted by God., this is it: playing piano like this Minneaolis genius.
Possibly the best pianist on earth. He is actually better on piano than guitar. Physically the greatest musician to ever live.
prince is amazing but not even close to the greatest pianist on earth. and no, he isn't better at piano than guitar. some of these comments come from a place of love but they are steeped ignorance -- a lacking knowledge of music in a broader sense.
@@romulus_ Blah blah blah. Whatever Bro. Depression is treatable. Hang in there.
@@DanFreeman723 "blah blah I'm thin-skinned" [projection] "blah blah I don't know what I'm talking about in several aspects of life..."
@@DanFreeman723 he's right. P was a gifted pianest, but no where near the best, and his piano playing can't touch his ax skills
This is appropriate for today... and it's also snowing where I am (April 2021)... Sometimes, sometimes..
