Seiko Samurai Automatic Dive Watch - New Release for 2017

- In today's video, we will show you three new Seiko Prospex releases for 2017. These three ISO rated divers are 200 meters water resistant and feature the 23 jewel 4R35 movement that hand winds and also hacks (seconds hand stops when the time is set).
There are three Samurai's in the current USA lineup, black dial on steel (SRPB51), Pepsi on rubber (SRPB53) and a cool new gun-metal IP (SRPB55).
These will all surely become best sellers and a welcome addition to any collection.

ive got the pepsi model, best watch ive ever owned, so comfortable, the rubber band is the most comfortable band, the watch fits great, accuracy is 2-3 secs a day so far..im just extremely happy, now i want the black and gold,,
I bought a Seiko Samurai and was very disappointed by the lack of quality control. There was a misalignment of the dial with the chapter ring, the crown was not centered between the shoulders, and the watch kept terrible time. That's too bad, because I think this is a really good-looking watch.
interesting. It may be different year by year, but my 2019 has no issues
I wore an Orient Mako XL for several years. Seiko decided they liked it, too, so they made one a little nicer.

It would be nice if Seiko signed the crown also.
Didn't notice that detail; Orient does it.
The crown dips downward in almost all Samurais. And the bezels does not align exactly with the 12 o'clock marker. However, I intend to get one, when Seiko adjusts the two inaccuracies in their production.

Long Island Watch why is the crown so uncentered to the downside? It’s basically touching the bottom of the lug
They do on other divers ie The Shogun.

Some great new watches from Seiko! But man I have to say, when you put that SKX up next to the Pepsi, the SKX just looks so classic. It just does something for me that the new watches don't. It's such an iconic watch. Love my SKX

I just received my Blumo from LIW 2 days ago. I thought it would be big for my 6.25" wrist but I tried it anyway. I'm glad I took the risk. The Blumo fits perfectly on my wrist. Since the Blumo is about the same size as these Samurai I would definitely get one. Just checked the LIW site. The black one is out of stock. Well just signed up to be notified on the waitlist.
It is a pity they dropped the day complication. I really find it handy, particularly when traveling.

@zaskarclf -- I am sure you are right. To me it is a more of the trend Seiko has been on recently, which is changing something of little consequence, and charging double, like the 2nd vs. 3rd generation Monster. I don't like what I am seeing, I think the great value is slowly evaporating, and I am exploring elsewhere.
I settled on one of these because I don't want it and it doesn't have it. As a second watch for travel, the less stuff there is to set when I wind it up for duty, the better it is.

The Sammy is a beautiful watch. I have the Zimbe version. Whilst the turtle rubber is lovely and supple, it is so soft that you can quite easily disengage the spring bar by moving the strap laterally across the watch lugs. I believe they need a metal or reinforced polymer tube to combat this.

I love that rubber strap, I actually bought it from you! The only thing is it gets really stratched from daily wear. Not a big deal though.

Sorry for asking noob question. Is the Black Steel in the SRPB55K1 anodized, or is it the basic color of the material? I'm worry that scratches would reveal the original color of the material. :D
Why is the crown not centered between the protectors? It's closer to the bottom one

The crown is centred but the geometry of the lugs makes it look strange, if you look at it from the top or back you will see that its perfectly centred.

@@varanid9 Its hard to explain, the best thing would be to see it irl. If you look at the watch on an angel the crown can look as if its too high or to low but if you look at it straight then it will be perfectly centred. Since the guards are higher than the crown and there is an relatively big gap between the guard an the crown it can make it look off centre but trust me it is perfectly okay.
Because Seiko always cuts corners.

As a blue dial fan you must have noticed the "blue lagoon" limited edition. Such a shame the samurai is sold out world wide, it looks amazing. I do like these new samurais. A Hamilton khaki day-date is on my purchase list but might just have to rethink..

Marc, Thanks for putting this out. I've been waiting for these to release since Baselworld. I love the SRPB55, but wish they had made it with a bracelet. I prefer bracelets to straps. With me, the straps fail too quickly. I'm a sucker for a blue face so it looks like it will be the SRPB53, but then getting a turtle bracelet to add to it. Now I will be waiting for the new Cocktail Time's to release.
This is a great strap; not like the other SKX straps; you might be surprised.

I think it's about 12 watches now that I've seen first from you and then had to buy somewhere else. Your growing so fast and becoming so popular you need to stock deeper my friend.

You mention that it’s bigger than the SKX but how does it fit your wrists compared to the SKX? Some watches wears different than the specs and I’m really considering this, but a bit afraid that it’s bigger than the already big SKX I own.

hi there i read somewhere the Seiko SRPB51K1 Prospex Black ... dose not keep time very well compared to the srpc49k1 darth turtle, which is the most accurate one or a gd alternative
Hey Marc, sorry to ask this on an old video, but do you know if these Sammy's have the same magnetic resistance as the PADI turtle? I noticed that the PADI turtle has the mag resist specs listed in the description on the website, but the Sammy's don't. And that's consistent on every website that I've looked at, not just yours, which I assume means that Seiko decided not to specify the resistance in it's description of these watches?

Is this worth getting if u just got a new PADI Turtle 2 weeks ago ? It was this or the Turtle and I went with the PADI Turtle. I love it and all, but this watch is becoming more appealing everyday. Its basically an all steel Shogun for all intensive purposes. I know the diffrences, I don't want titanium, and the 4r is basically just as good as the 6r to me. 8 or 9 more hours of power reserve means nothing to me. 40 + hrs is perfect. Anyways, thanks for the video

How does this wear on the wrist compared to the turtle srps...a lot of people say they wear similar.... the turtle looks passable on my 6.5 flat wrist when i ask for my family and friends
They wear nicely, smaller than their size.

Divers sub-40 are certainly scarce.
I just have to ask, on the black version, are the 0-15 bezel marks gray? They look brown to me in all pictures and videos, but it just doesn't make sense.
The 0-15 track is grey insetad of black, but the ticks are all gold.
Yes, it is a shade of brown; very light brown color. Even the dial it is not black, it's also a shade of brown but not same brown as the 0-15 marks on the bezel. Received the watch from LIW last week and I loved it.

Hey Mark! Those rubber straps look like the one on my Prospex SNE441 which, I believe, has the same IP as the one you show? I love the strap on mine and would love a Samurai if it's the same kind! Thanks!
Different. The SNE441 uses a 20mm strap, and it's PN is R035011N9.
The Sammy's use the Turtle rubber strap, its a 22mm strap.
