      In the 44 years I have had it, i have only had battery changes and cleanings every other time. I made sure they fully waterproofed the watch every time it was opened. It remains #1 in my various watches.

    I agree Marc, it’s a very cool watch and that lume colour variation is very nice, but for me , I’m still smiling from ear to ear when I wear the Samurai srpb51 I recently bought from you, so I’ll have to pass on the little beauty you’ve got on offer. No doubt it’ll fly out the door in sales. Very nice review too 👍🏻

    A little late to the party but just wanted to say "Great job" as always, Marc. Excellent quality and informative content...think you have this down. Re the watch, sorta back and forth on this one. Haven't quite warmed up to the Samurai (have the orange dial SRPB97) like I did with the Turtle which was an immediate favorite after handling "in the steel". Haven't quite put my finger on it...have multiple SKX, Monsters, Turtles and Sumos. Would put that Samurai last in order of preference but just where I am with it at this moment in time...recall recoiling at the Monster initially and now seeking the SRP313 to round out collection!

    Hi Mark. I bought the same watch as this today and it has all of the same markings, colors and is a PADI. In another one of your videos you stated that on the back of your monster it has an upside-down horseshoe to represent some kind of anti-magnetic which is needed to get the Diver's and PADI certification. But mine and the one shown here in the video doesn't have that marking. Also when looking for my watch I found a website selling the same watches for only 88 Euros, should I be worried I bought a copy? Thanks in advance.

      Where to begin? The ridiculous pins and collars, the stamped clasps, the hollow links. If I can manage to find (in my collection) 1 Swiss and 1 German maker at similar price point, providing a proven automatic Swiss movement AND a bracelet with solid, screw links and machined clasps then Seiko has no excuse. Oh, and 1 Italian....almost forgot the Squale I'm wearing as I type this.

      Chapter ring alignment is always talked about; the crown was lopsided on the first models; they seem to have gotten it right now.

    Heya Mark - an honest question. I myself have imported some Seikos from Japan. Ranging from the Turtle to higher class models such as the SBDC053. Nearly everyone of them had, with one exception, an issue with a misaligned chapter ring. Seiko Japan has stated that they are having problems with the qc, especially on the Sumo and Samurai. I don't want to ruin anyones business and please, don't ever stop making such amazing videos, but can you somewhat confirm that?
    Thank you very much.

      I bought the ray 2 for a friend, and I own the SKX009K myself. I personally like the build quality on the Seiko better. However, the ray 2 is slightly more dressy.

    Mark I just bought the SRPB99J1 but it came in a regular box. I wonder if the dry box is a US thing. I bought it from a legitimate dealer in the Philippines. I have a question, what’s the difference between “special edition” and “limited addition”. Apparently this watch is a “special edition”. BTW I had the dealer put a Double down sapphire crystal on the watch the moment I purchased it. I got to say it added a little something special to a watch that was already gorgeous.

    • @islandwatch
      @islandwatch  6 років тому +2

      I know they said just the first thousand or so units would have the dry box. I'm not sure about what they did in other markets, sorry.
