As someone who spent an hour trying Heroic Chess before watching this video, watching him lose repeatedly after underestimating how difficult it was going to be was very gratifying.

To be honest the only thing I was confused about is why he didn't he play apprentice to cycle the "spells cost 0" card i mean you draw 3 cards for 2 mana
For the Magic Mirror I recommend Mill Rogue with the addition of Deathrattle boardclear cards like Explosive Sheep. Real easy and fun to play! (Also nice for that deck: Zombie Chow, Eater of Secrets, Doomsayer, Dark Iron Skulker)
That's exactly what I used to bash that mirror into pieces :D
I tried that and it didn't work that well. Whereas I beated him with mill rogue at 30hp.
I personally found it really amusing to go Donate Majordomo Druid. It felt especially dirty to donate darnassus aspirant into duplicate, killing a mana on every token.
i added abomination to mill rogue because the ai doesnt attack abomination for some reason
At first I tried control warrior with elise and a shitload of removal and I almost won on fatigue. Then I actually killed him with murloc shaman on first try. :D

I really need to applaud Blizzard's ability to program AI opponents in this game. That Magic Mirror... holy crap.
The quality ordering from Silverware Golem is incredible.
The silverware golem always plays the attack buffs after attacking on purpose. Otherwise it could easily just OTK you with charging 10/1 plates. If he actually played 'well' it would be no fun at all.

I think they've actually learned how to code it correctly, but they intentionally make the AI misplay to keep up with the joke theme and because that's literally the only advantage you get in heroic.
Sounds like a convenient excuse :') Blizzard have proven themselves incapable of programming A.I in every adventure so far.
Bishops are the most important piece (probably even more-so than the Queen) when it comes to early-mid game. The whole point of this Heroic challenge is to keep your pieces alive as long as possible, and Bishops are necessary for this.
Not in the slightest. Just look at how Trump uses his bishops litteraly as cheat-fodder rather than his PAWNS. The 0 damage makes them really weak.

Trump, seeing you not despair at your first failed attempt with the heroic silverware was oddly inspiring. A good lesson for a budding Hearthstone player. Also, my first sentence in this comment makes me giggle, because I never imagined putting together that particular assemblage of words, even as an autistic person. lol

Cycled is the wrong word there. Cycle is a synonym for cantrip, a card that replaces it's self. While there is a difference between the two words its small/ A cantrip has an effect and draws you one card i.e. your mass dispel/starfire. Vs a cycle which is a card that's only useful effect is card draw i.e. novice engineer/runic egg/purify. The term you're looking for is recycle.

If you want to play the prologue differently, go play it. It's free. He didn't fatigue, who gives a crap if he didn't add 50 cards to his deck, it's almost always better to have the crucial cards in your hand to respond to your opponent rather than wasting them to pad your deck.

The key to win the chess is try to control the board at the beginning, and have a queen to hit the face every turn after 7. I put two knights on the right side, and a bishop between two knights. Try to let knights survive at the end because they can target high hp creatures, and let the pawn/rook to finish them.
The sadness of the chess match wasn't just seeing a few turns ahead of trump, but the fact that the Bishops (Read: Priests) Are easily the worst ;-;.
That said, a 2-3 cost priest drop with that bishop effect could potentially be really interesting, with the right stats.
all I need for the heroic card back is the chess battle but I can't beat it to save my life...

I have been waiting to watch this. I lost twice all the way through and they were all long matches. Pretty fun.
"Chat has no idea how to play Medivh, you gotta save the spells!" except no you don't, using Khadgar you can just copy them back into the deck and burn Maelchazar every turn. The Hero Power is there specifically so you don't have to worry about running out of cards to combo out.
Trump is the worst at playing Medivh... you use the astral communion *when you have an Archmage down* so that it gets put back into the deck.
Eventually, your deck will be nothing but damage spells and mana acceleration, which lets you draw 3 and dump your hand every turn, clearing the board and dealing plenty of damage.
All you want to do when you don't have the Archmage out is get rid of the bad cards. It's just generally really easy.
Easiest way to cheese the silverware is just go Warrior with x2 Unstable Ghoul and whatever you need to survive the early game. Things like Whirlwind, Argent Squire, Annoyotron. When you play Unstable Ghoul, the opponent will not attack it. Once Ghoul is up, armor up every turn and you will win in fatigue. Alex helps too.
Seeing Trump struggle with the chess one makes me try to remember how I did it on my first go. I suppose I was much luckier than I thought.

The issue with the chess match is that not only does black get a coin (therefore equalizing the white goes first dynamic) but also gets a hero power of cheating, so it's able to take the upper hand in every turn

Gadgetzan Auctioneer in Medivh's deck for infinite Pyroblasts. Have it out with Archmage's Apprentice along with an empty deck and play Archmage's Insight.
Wow, I actually killed a heroic boss with a deck of my own. Put Deathlords and only high mana minions into my deck against the mirror. Deathlord pulled out Thermoplugg (which I decided to put in on a whim) on turn 4, that thing proceeded to totally wreck the mirror.

I think the secret to the chess boss is to always keep the number of minions offset so that your minions always hit more than one enemy to maximize damage

Loved the chess event. Almost a completely different strategy game. And always fun to watch a pro player struggle to grasp a unique win condition. (Make sure you always get double damage from your pieces. ALWAYS. And you're going to have to calculate your damage every round.)
Hey did you now there is special text if you play as the Mage alternate hero (who I got on the first possible day no regrets)
It's matches like that magic mirror one which really show how the ai works in this game. It's just a simple decision tree. if trade is favorable, make it. If you have lethal, go for it. If your opponent has a lot of minions out, clear them. Cards effects like sylvanas probably aren't even part of it, so from the ai's perspective, it's 1/1 sylvanas is just a 1/1, so it doesn't trade. It makes sense that the mirror would be the worst of the ai, just based on it's theme.
does your protect the king deck use standard or wild cards? I'd like to make it, but only been playing since old gods meta so don't have all the old wild stuff.
That chess heroic mode took a whole 4 hour of my life. It was so hard ;-;

the chess one is super random. its really down to if the ai makes turn 3 and 4 plays, and how often it uses hero power.
First try, just plan ahead and it's easy.

You should check out the game Eternal Kings. I tried it out at GenCon and it's a blend of chess and deck construction. It's currently in development, but I'm sure if you reached out to them they would love to have you critique their game. They're looking to make it competitive so they're working very hard on balancing their cards.

I beat the Silverware on 1st try with a Druid deck only consisting of mobs that explode (abomination/sheep/ghoul etc), and then regular clears for the bigger minions.
For some reason the boss wont attack into the Abomination because he will lose his board, so just plant that and you can go face while he passes every turn.

Won both the standard and heroic versions of Medivh on my first go.
The answer has always been playing Archmage's Assistant into Archmage's Insight into Spellpower into operation "Destiny Red."
My deck is usually twice its original size before I'm done blasting the shit outta him on heroic on account of there being multiple copies of the assistant all triggering at once. I also frequently possess over 50 HP on heroic by turn nine, after factoring in the initial damage.
Naturally, my friends, despite being almost universally higher on the ladder than me by several stages, can't beat it.
I guess Medivh is just too complicated for more experienced players to get the hang of him, which is why only the most idiotic and unthinking players can grasp the beauty of it all.

Holy crap just beat Malchezaar on my first go on Herioc. Fuck that was awesome!
It thought it was disappointing how easy this wing was. I beat all the bosses on the first try, including the heroic ones! which is something that would have been unthinkable in other adventures! I really hope the difficulty level amps up in the later wings!
Whoever "balanced" the heroic chess ... I don't believe they did their job properly ...

I needed a couple of tries to defeat heroic Malchezaar but I finally did it by becoming Ragnaros (I summoned Majordomo Executus). His heropower isn't to bad either xD
