Nice point about planting bigger bulbs down far enough to keep them from being top heavy. I just planted a giant size bulb and learned i need to add more potting mix. Thank you!

My bulbs are mostly kept in a dark storage room, covered under a cloth. But I have to shear off the leaf tip every other week to keep it in dormancy for 8 weeks. I live in sunny Malaysia.

The waxed bulbs are kind of a cruel way to grow such a magnificent flower/bulb. The poor bulb is deprived of any water or nutrients for the duration of the flowering period, which requires a great deal of energy, and thus the bulb gets severely shriveled by the time the flowers fade, peeling itself away from the wax covering. Whoever thought of such a horrible marketing gimmick?!

Yes, I've never actually grown any in wax - I like mine in pots personally. 😁🪴
