The only thing I've ever really noticed when using certain hitboxes was height. Too often using Dominus/Breakout I feel the need to do a short jump to hit the ball, causing me to lose a certain degree of control, whereas in an octane hitbox that less often is the case due to the height increase. I can see why people would use Fennec over Octane, it simply has a more clean appearance, which is what I'd assume people mean by "feel". Or, of course, people go with what's popular because it makes them feel good.
People use the fennec usually because it has a more solid hitbox to car model line up on the front of the car. Oppose to this, people often use octane because it’s what they are used to since it is the free car. Along with it being free, it also has a better looking wheel hitbox often making it easier to line up flip resets and get touches with wheels like redirects. These are what I see as the main benefits as a ssl player.
tbf i find fennec easier to flip reset with because it has a flat bottom. maybe thats because i always look at the middle of the underside of the car and not wheels
I really think there should be more discussion around hitbox-model visual accuracy. The fennec being more accurate than the octance is a common argument for its popularity, however the ones that fit the octane the best is both road hogs and the harbinger. Harbinger is boxier and has flatter roof and front, but is slighlty less wide than the hitbox, both road hogs fill out the width. I really think everyone should try the road hog xl (looks better IMO, and has flatter roof than normal road hog). I think the "bulky" feeling it gives off can be worth it for better shooting and especially flicking accuracy.
Great video, as always! I’d love to see a video about freestylers and to different cars that they use (dominus and breakout) and a breakdown of what makes those hitboxes popular for those players.
As a C2 i am not always at the top of my game. Sometimes im late to the ball a little. The octane helps get me hit the ball slightly sooner with its protruding hit box. When i feel super fast and on it the fennec is my main
When I originally began playing a few years ago I struggled alot with the octane. It felt off. I never saw much improvement with it. Recently I began playing on PC and got a fennec. Tried it out and I realized something. The octane is sluggish. It feels like I'm driving through jelly. Now sure this might be good for a beginner who's not great with basic controls but I needed speed. Because of the fennec I've actually got a hang of basic play.
Except this is 100% psychological bias. Both car have the same exact properties. I never liked playing the Octane as well, but just because of how it fits with the hitbox and because of the shape of the car. I prefer cars with as little visual garbage as possible at the front of the hitbox and with squarer shapes to help visualizing angles and air rolls.
@@PlemDon Or you can trade for one. Unpainted body or blueprint are quite affordable. I myself are a huge fan of the Insidio hybrid car. Not for everyone, but really like the hitbox fit. Best of both world between octane and dominus hitboxes.
@@ShiroYukari_Music Dont got any creds rn :/ but question...am i able to trade after purchasing rocket pass premium.....specificially i got it from fortnite crew
Before fennec I didn't really have a "main", never really liked the look of the octane.. Played around with takumi a fair bit. When fennec released I really liked the look of it, the hitbox being octane was a nice thing as well. These days it's fennec or dingo. Maybe the golf for a bit!
I've said this before and have been watching you for a while now. I love your videos and you deserve more subscribers. Every time I watch you, the quality is just as good if not better than other RL youtubers with 1 million+ subcribers.
I've always preferred using it over octane. The same reason is described in the video, as it's easier to visualize the hitbox. That said, I've always gravitated more towards dominus and hybrid hitboxes.
As a new player to rocket league I have to say I love the Fennec over the octane. I like boxy type of vehicles in general but like you said it takes the guess work out of the hit box.
I am a Dominus main but when I am in a slump or want to work on specific things like bounce dribbles I will switch to the Fennec but never the Octane. There is one reason why. I am not sure if the center of rotation is different between octane and fennec. I think its mostly just the visual but the octane just looks like it rotates funky when doing front/back flips and it feels weird. Like its not rotating around where its CG should be.
I played the Fennec for some time when it released, after I dropped a TW plan for it. It was before Chausette made it popular by playing it during tournaments. Then, at the start of F2P (S1), the Insidio hybrid car released and I've been playing it since then, switching from time to time just for fun. I prefer playing cars with the least visual garbage outside the hitbox at the front and Insidio matches the front perfectly. People really should try cars they find cool or fitting the hitbox according to their taste. They don't imagine that other cars have nothing really different except the amount of visual garbage outside the hitbox at the front or the overall hitbox fit, and of course the hitbox properties. Be original, find YOUR car instead of playing one just because everybody plays it. And if Fennec is your fav, that's fine too: at least you know why you're playing it.
fennec has the perfect balance for me, it feels fast but not too fast like the octane, in fennec i feel mechanical but also smart, in octane its just mechanics and go go go
If you're a freestyler, use Dominus (flat cars). If you're a shooter/poor mechanically player, use Octane. But, if you want an all-around experience, use Fennec. (This is subjective, don't cancel me)
So is this technically a Non-Non-Meta episode then?

Fennec also fits the octane hitbox the best, which is why some pros say their aim is better with ti.
for some reason fennec appears more bulky so many people including me have a placebo that the car seems to move around cleaner and is better for 50s

The Fennec not only looks better, it's closer in shape to the actual hitbox. I'm glad it's in the game
everyone is sleeping on dominus smh 😡
Ultimately competitive Rocket League relies so much on psychology and confidence. Any car is good as long as you believe it’s good.

Nothing against Octane users but as Main Dominus I feel slightly satisfied
Dominus is ew

I liked the Fennec so much when it dropped that it’s literally my dogs name 😂

I switch between Dominus and Breakout (mainly dominus), and to me the flicks (especially JZR and Musty/Breezi) feel a world better than Octane.
What is that clean orange color/painting?

As an octane main I have to admit the Fennec just looks much better.

that makes completely no sense since FENNEC HAS THE SAME HITBOX AS OCTANE, also there are more octane freestylers
No matter what I will still main the breakout lol 🤣
Nice video
I have used both but i play better with octane, i get too defensive with fennec. Octane still king for me 👑
Fennec
fennec aint keeping its spot soon breakout gonna be new meta i love the breakout but as for now i havent really tried playing with the fennec much
Tf makes you think breakout is gonna be the new meta? LMAO. It's usage rate is almost as if it doesn't exist in the game
cancel me all you like but i dont like to play with the fennec :)
same, the rc look from octane is really good, i feel way faster with octane than fennec
This guy thinks im a fennec
POGGERS
Cringe asf
Cool
fennec's hitbox is slightly higher than octanes making 50s easier at least,
no it’s not
