I seem to have exhausted all the appreciative words in my vocab for Chi. Abhishek Raghuram alone, that I am left with none for expressing my joy at the performance of the Violinist Sow. Akkarai Subbalakshmi, and the Mridangist Chi. Anantha R Krishnan! Stunner of a soul-stirring rendition of Shanmukapriya by this ensemble -- I am listening to it for the third time at a stretch!

To me his, facial expressiions give a whole new character to the performance ..! So much so I yearn to return to these Sankara TV videos of his, every time i watch any of his other performances ...! Shame, people seem to talk less about the excellent support by flamboyant Akkarai Subhalakshmi & Anantha R Krishnan. Not the least, Vaidhyanathan Sir.. with his facial expressions ..!! (Even the 5th guy, that kept you endlessly guessing what he is doing on the dais ...) Their mutual sharing of those little simpers then and there in appreciation of each other excelling each other. Together, its a musical drama or a journey if you will. Treat to the ears.(for eg 38:50 , 50:54) And the eyes ...!@Bommarajugaru.... okatesaariki ekkuvaindhandi meedhi ...!!

Criticisms are offered in good faith. The comments by Mr Srinivasan appear to be valid, though harshly worded e.g. "Self aggrandising". Having said that the slow tempo of music seen in the artists cited is one of their choice. I do prefer that to the faster tempo renditions which appear to be more of gymnastics than capturing the soul of music. But it is my personal choice. I have no right to define what good music is, nor to demand how an artist should interpret music. Art is personal.
We are not at all eligible to criticize the wizard whose performance is impeccable and Akkarai Subbalakshmi in the violin is simply outstanding as usual
This guys effort in making swarabedham between the janya ( melkartha ) ragham Natabhairavi and shanmugapriya is superb. Even any experienced singer would not take risk, wonderfu!
His birgas are par excellence. Long live the legacy of lalgudi Jayaraman and Palghat Raghu. He will be the future genious/ master next only to Sanjay Subramanian and T.M.Krishna ( a bit ecentric and has to come to right path )
If Abhishek's name was Abhishek Gontagetla or something like these very critical Carnatic reviewers would have constructed a temple for Abhishek Raghuram &offered coconut water abhishekam!! Absolutely matchless performance, Abhishek is THE FUTURE
The accompaniments both violin & mrithangam are equally excellent and that has added merugu to the performance. May Goddess Saraswathi bless them also to achieve greater heights in the years to come. Blessings
