where do u get the drawing from, is there anything that u trace, so u can carve it. this is my only issue. but I know how to carve. it would help if u showed me/us how u draw

He traces a lot of his designs using carbon paper - large sheets of it. And he traces _half_ the design and then flips the design over so that the two halves match perfectly, if it's a symmetrical design.

One of the things I've found to be tricky as a beginner is realizing how important it is that your curves follow the curves of your sweeps aka gouge chisels. It's difficult to have clean lines when your curves are too big or too small for your tools when outlining with a gouge at 90 degrees. I also have yet to figure out what type of wood that is and what is its moisture content? Even something as soft as yellow cedar is like concrete if it's dried out.
