  • After a failed attempt of trying to use foam for my last diorama, I got back to the workbench and made sure that I started to get the feel and learn how to use this really easy material to create a small diorama or vignette !
Master Modeler Glenn Bartolotti has created quite a series with his "Step-By-Step Finishing Armor" series. Each of the volumes is a mini-master class in painting and weathering a specific armor kit or diorama. The paints, powders and washes are all clearly identified, along with pre-shading and other painting techniques.

This is Great! I've been using Foam for about 20 years. And if you want deeper seams just use a sharp knife to cut the seam first. Then use the Pencil or a shaped Dowel to press the seams wider and deeper! I also use Acrylic Matt Medium to seal the foam so I can use Enamel Washes or CA Adhesive without worry. You're gonna love this Foam!!!

That gnarly stuff for the tree foliage is rubberized horsehair…it was used as upholstery stuffing…I use it often for great shrubs and undergrowth…beautiful work on the building👍

Glenn , this vignette looks fantastic. You never throw in the towel, you always work through a problem and solve them . I always learn from these step by step lessons. Thank you for sharing your experience with all of us 😊.

Hello Glenn. Hope all is well with you. Enjoyed your video with your step-by-step commentary. Very informative as usual. You basically used the same techniques, more or less that you use with magic sculpt and applied it to the foam. Very clever how you made the tree using magic sculpt. The end result is another successful diorama. I just learned another use for oregano. They really do look like leaves and enhance the overall look of your finished work. And the figure looks great. The completed result all works together showcasing your creativity as always. Thanks again for another inspiring video. Take care and all the best.

Simply great, Glenn. A very nice designed vignette, which has all it needs to be a cool eye catcher on every exhibition.
    Best wishes, Joachim

How were the Miniart figures? I see they have resin heads.

The resin heads are great. The figures themselves are still have that kind of rough plastic That’s not real smooth. That’s the only complaint I really have about them and some flash definitely not Tamaya figures or dragon.
