brilliant! i'm about to do this on my 1st foam diorama; was going to use joint compound for streets, then paint & weather. then wondered if i could just faux concrete right on the foam. and now i know i can! thanks guy
Insane! I dabble w/ different arts, and although I don’t need concrete, I do need a lighter product for my pieces. I’ve been hesitant to use foam, but now I’m going to give it a try!! Binging all videos now. 😊
I liked your choice of colors to simulate the concrete finish. I used a different color pallet in my last video. Well done. I just subscribed to your channel. Cheers!
Just fount this video! Great, concise, clear tutorial...thank you for the lesson! One question...where did you purchase the super thin XPS? It's almost as hard to find as unicorn teeth.
Thank you! And I’m glad you like the video! Unfortunately, I don’t know where to buy sheets of thin foam. I only have 1-2” thick pieces where I’m from. I just cut the thickness down with my proxxon hot wire table. You could try looking at eBay, I’ve heard that some people sell thinner sheets that they cut down themselves! Not too sure about how clean and accurate they are though
I use woodland scenics Black pigments for a black wash- just a little blob plus water to thin, and you have a nice water based Black wash, you may need to go over it two or three times once the first coat is dry, or you may be happy with the first one, do it so your'e happy with it. If the first coat is too black, thin with more water directly onto the piece before it dries.
I'm wanting to build small scale houses, as real as possible, complete with teeny pvc pipes in walls, tiny coated wire thru walls, real pieces of carpet on floors. then scale it up using "1 by " lumber🤔
all this is missing is old gum stuck all over and cigarette buds squished in-between the cracks edit: just saw you actually did add the black speckles like gum lol
The best looking concrete from foam I've seen!
Thank you so much!!
Fanastic result and I love how to-the-point you are. Someone else could have easily dragged this on for 20 minutes.
Thank you!! I’m glad you liked the video! Thanks again for watching!

Wow
Did you apply the Deck Tan without mod podge?
Yes I just used the paint, but you could seal it with mod podge to make it more rigid if you’d like to
Brilliantly simple! All you're missing is a wad of chewed up gum.
Thank you!!! And yes that’s a great idea! I’ll definitely add that next time :)
What color specifically did you use.
The concrete color was deck tan by Vallejo!
Really great tips and tricks! A must subscribe for model builders! Thank you very much for the great tips and good luck!🙏👍🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀

Hope you could make asphalt video :(((
I’m not sure when, but I’ll probably come across an asphalt surface at some point!!
What's the name of the paint? "duck tan"? Where can you get it and who makes it? Cheers from UK
The color is called “deck tan” and it is make by a brand called “Vallejo”. I hope this helps!
@@smolworldworkshop Thank you for the reply! Will look into ordering some
dash of dollar store glitter..
