  • Some Euronymphing action at Tariffville Ct, a mill-village of Simsbury whose rapids and gorge provide great habitat for a variety of fish today while in the 19th Century attracted industrialists with ideas for development. We will catch some trout and talk a little Tariffville History along the way!

Hey that was cool, dude. I've putzed around there a couple times , fished that insane pool below the small Dam with the no swimming sign where people regularly drown in the stopper there. The mexicans fish the other bank. One time I snorkeled in the fast water just below the last Kayak run marker. I saw a HUGE small mouth just chilling , 4 lbs. I'm getting to know the river better now even though I consider the wading to be brutal and dangerous in some areas. I need to go earlier in the season though , by now it's probably bleh.

Very nice footage and story. When you said you were wondering about the first cell phone emergency call I couldn't help but recall a documentary I saw a while back of the first cell phone call in NYC. It makes me think it may have been somebody being mugged or the like, lol.

Euronymphing is bait fishing with a perdigon... if you are not using a fly line to cast, you ain't fly fishing. You can use an 11 foot rod and a spinning reel to do the same, no need for fly fishing equipment. Not sure why this technique is bundled into "fly fishing", it is closer to bait fishing with worms and 15 foot poles, like the europeans were doing 50 years ago.
